A new league is being proposed that would be in effect a purely NFL developmental league. It would be a four-team league based in California and only for players in lieu of college. In other words, players are only eligible for the first four years after high school.

The way that it's being proposed is as an alternative to college ball, for those players who don't have an interest in being a "student athlete". My thoughts are mixed on this. At worst, it would just be filled with thugs who couldn't get into a college no matter how much academic exception was made for them and would not help white players at all. Or it could open up D1 possibilities to whites who would take the spots vacated by affletes who "dont's play student only plays football". I fear it would be more of the former, but you never know.

Interesting concept and I feel Shannahan, McCaffery and the others behind it have the right idea in mind. They have identified a major issue outside of the myth of "student athletes" at the college game which is the proliferation of the spread offense. I appreciate that the league is dedicated to running pro style offenses. I don't know how successful it will be but it may certainly free up scholarships for deserving white student athletes at the college level.

This site has discussed this in the past but star college players are getting ripped off because they can't earn endorsement money while their star power is at it's zenith. I'm not sure this league will ever get anything but long shot prospects or guys that flunk out or get kicked out of school. Plus the broadcasting powers that own the rights to college football wouldn't want college football to lose fan interest and devolve to the Ivy League or Patriot League.

Congress should have forced the NFL to form their own minor league years ago.

My opinion, this is the perfect approach to addressing primary issues within college football.
I think the league will struggle, but it's model will eventually succeed. It would be a valve for guys who don't want to be forced in to the charade of 'student-athlete'. And it will alleviate the growing pressure on schools to pay college football players. Also expands the job & consumer marketplace.. which is typically, universally good.

One article I read stated they're considering fall & spring seasons. I think it would be suicidal to go head-to-head against the NFL initially. A spring season would give hardcore fans an off-season watch. That was part of the USFL's initial success, their non-traditional season. Like I said, not optimistic in the short run, but this will (& should) be the future for farm league football. I like it.

I predict this league will be 95% black. Forgoing a free degree for a chance at a quick payday is almost entirely a black thang. To most Whites this concept won't even be considered.

Do you guys remember when the NBA allowed guys to enter the draft straight out of HS? 99% of the guys jumping straight to the pros were black. In fact, the only White I can remember doing it was Robert Swift and he was a mega bust. Even worse, he ended up a tattooed drug addict. In addition to valuing education, Whites don't receive as much hype so there is less early opportunity.

In football it'll be no different. The only Whites that will draw interest would be 5 star QBs and O linemen but why would those guys turn down being a star at a top ranked power conference school? College stardom and all the goodies that come with it is a blast. 3 or 4 years of fun and a degree to boot is smart when you don't need the money to "feed yo family".

These Pacific teams will resemble the Raiders at best and Grambling at worst. I wonder if they'll have a hard time finding punters, kickers and long snappers?

If it'll whiten up the college squads I'm all for it. That could end up being the best case scenario. The black players can get their easy gibs-me-dat, while the White men can go to college, get a degree, play football, and be true student-athletes. The alumni and other super-loyal fans will devote their energy to cheering for the much-whitened college teams, while the new minor league can end up like a clone of the NBA's D-League, which, like the WNBA, no one really cares about.

I would be willing to bet that Mexican punters and kickers will make a comeback in this league. At one time when virtually no Americans played competitive soccer the soccer style kickers were all virtually imports from Europe, Africa or Latin America. I kick the ball jokes might make a comeback.....

Ps. Steve Largent could have been one of these guys joining this league as he stated his mother fled her middle class household because his step father beat her up and his family was suddenly on welfare while he was in high school. He also has talked about supporting his siblings when he was a Seahawk for the first few years in the league.

The value of a college athlete is vastly overstated by the people who advocate paying them. Look at the CFL, many of its players were top notch college athletes but now make ~$90k/yr. While that type of salary is nothing to scoff at it also comes with the responsibility of paying for everything yourself. Whereas college athletes, irrespective of how good they are, get room and board, food allowances, priority tutoring and college degrees for their efforts. I'm willing to bet that the average CFL player wishes they were still in college.

That's actually a really legal gray area. Depending on how the minor league were set up, an NFL minor league could be an illegal monopoly. The Supreme Court gave Baseball a special exception to this law way back when. The NFL has been accused of trying to monopolize football before, but no one has really cared too much. That's definitely changed in the past 24 hours though because the loudest critic of the NFL's monopoly over football is now in the Oval Office.

Ha, good point. Trump was a USFL owner, the most prominent one, and led the USFL's effort to sue the NFL as a monopoly in violation of anti-trust laws. The USFL won a jury trial, but was awarded $3 in damages by that same jury, effectively putting it out of business. Let's hope President Trump's long memory for his enemies extends to the league that has caused so much damage to American society as an enthusiastic agent of Cultural Communism for the past half century.

This league would be almost all black. It would create more room for white players in college. I think it would be a good thing, it would get rid of all the wannabe thugs. It's supposed to be coming in the summer of 2018, so i'm a little optimistic. I wish they would make it like minor league baseball, in which anybody is eligible no matter your age.

Yes, this league will be almost entirely black, and yes, that will open up more slots for white players in CFB... which inevitably means that the media will start promoting the afroleague as where all of the superior talent goes(Pro ready right out of highschool! UPSIDE!).

Actually, come to think of it, there's a fairly good chance it wouldn't open up any slots at all for white kids. There's certainly more than 4 rosters worth of black criminals and semi-functional retards, who couldn't handle even the coddled version of college their handlers set up for them, to fill up the prison-league without needing to poach an ounce of talent from college ball.

I'm only talking about college superstars ie award winners and finalists. You are right the average scholarship starter, quality back up is probably getting about what he deserves less a few hundred here or there. But a Heisman, Davey O'brien, Maxwell, Walter Camp( etc) winner could make upwards of a few million bucks through endorsements. How many of these winners or finalists haven't even made an NFL roster and had to play in the CFL or bounced out of the NFL quickly after being a late round pick and barely made anything in the NFL.
