Maybe his attention seeking personality is all a cry for help. He probably has abandonment issues. Alot of doctors are going to get work off this guy....

The cops say he said that he took the pills with the intention to harm himself (they asked the question) he said he misunderstood the question. I am going to wait to see what the report says, but noone mistakenly takes 35 sleeping pills or painkillers or whatever. More than likey TO needs to step down and get his life in order if this attempted suicide is indeed true.

I wouldn't trust Owens as far as I could throw him. More likely than not he's addicted to pain pills and simply took too many. If he wanted to -off - himself he could have gone somewhere by himself without the possibiity of someone coming to his rescue. He's a publicity hound and drama queen, isn't he? But most white people are now holding hands, singing Kumbaya and lighting candles for him.

On ESPN radio they are talking about nothing but Owens. There are some strange anomalies already that don't make it sound like a suicide attempt. But whether it was or wasn't, if you were already fed up with the media's infatuation with this child, you ain't seen nothin' yet. . .

Popping sleeping pills isn't exactly a sign of machismo, either, if you really do want to kill yourself. Most men use a firearm.

If this is true, I hope he gets better and gets back on the field soon. But I don't really think Owens would go this far for publicity.

This is likely an authentic suicide-attempt-as-attention-ploy routine, and now NFL industry-types are doing damage control of the highest order...

excerpt:
SEPTEMBER 27--Controversial football star Terrell Owens attempted suicide last night by taking an overdose of prescription pain pills, according to a Dallas Police Department report. A copy of the report can be found below. The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, 32, was depressed and told cops that he was trying to harm himself, the report states. A female companion of the athlete told officers that Owens last week filled a prescription for 40 pain pills, but had only taken five of the pills up to yesterday. Owens told police that he had taken the balance of the pills last night. The woman, who has been identified as Kim Etheredge, Owens's publicist, also told responding officers (RO/S) that she observed Owens (identified in the report as "comp," or complainant) put two pills in his mouth, which she tried to retrieve by placing her fingers in his mouth. He was treated at Baylor University Medical Center for a drug overdose. While the police document does not name Owens, Dallas media reports (including one from WFAA-TV, which broke the Owens story) have identified him as the "victim" referred to in the report. Early this morning, ESPN reported that Owens had been taken to a hospital emergency room after suffering an adverse reaction to painkillers, which had been prescribed as a result of broken hand suffered during a September 17 game against the Washington Redskins.

The press conference was revealing...his "publicist", Kim Etheredge, seemed genuinely rattled...I doubt she's Meryl Streep or something.

Her last quote before Owens took to the mic were priceless:

"Terrell has 25 million reasons to live!"

...if that doesn't just sum it up, I don't know what does.

Tonight I am going to do something I haven't done in 35 years. Gonna go out andthrow down quartsof rum and cokesto get smashed out of my mind. Most white people are hopelessly naive and altruistic. We as a race are like Golden Retrievers in a world ofrabid pitbulls.

It's not like Owens has killed anyone, I don't feel much (well, none) pity for him, but that doesn't mean I wish death upon him.

Maybe we can all pitch in and buy him a ticket to Africa =P

I don't like Owens' antics, but I do respect his ability and work ethic. He is an A+ player, if only a D- teammate.

Terrell Owens committing siucide simply makes no sense. People who off themselves are usually complicated and introspective. T.O. is a narcissistic simpleton. He is self-amused like a baby who spots his reflection in a mirror. I don't get "deep and introspective" from Terrell Owens. He is an all-too-normal product of the cult of self esteem.

Rule #1 in the Caste Football System: Never cross a civil rights hero like Donovan McNabb. This is payback for breaking the rules.

It certainly does. If it was all about the money, no rich or famous celebrity would ever kill themselves. The fact is there are plenty of celebrities and athletes who are on drugs, strung out, alcoholics, in ruinous relationships. Money can't buy you love, as the old song goes, and people like T.O. prove it every day.

Do you really think T.O. is happy with his life? I don't think so. Of course his life is what it is because of the decisions he has made, but his life looks a mess on the outside; its not surprising that his life is a mess on the inside, too. There is more to life than possessions and women. Cf. Michael Irvin, et al.

I have mixed feelings about this whole ordeal. I really don't think he tried to off himself. I do, however, think he might have a problem with prescription painkillers, and just took a few too many.

However, if he did in fact try to kill himself, I can't think of one reason why he would. He's loaded, and millions of idiotic White fans buy into his crap every season. The only reason I can think of for him going to that extreme, is if he's refusing to come to terms with a harsh reality. I'm not making a joke here, but if he DID try to end it all, maybe it was because he discovered he was gay. Think about it, he went out of his way, his entire career, fighting with everyone in his path (McNabb, for example). Basically trying to be the biggest macho jerk imaginable. Maybe he was hiding something. Its just a theory.

that's reaching, Ground Fighter... he might have some off the field problems that he can't cope with... plus it's not exactly honeymoon in Dallas for him either...
maybe he should just retire.

Yeah, I know, it is a stretch, but I can't come to any other reason for it. I mean, yeah, he's having problems in Dallas, but I doubt that they are serious enough to cause something like this. His problems are definitely of a personal nature, and my first theory was the first thing that entered me head.

I don't like Owens. Idiot has got some issues in a big way. But whatever race the guy is, he is at the top of his craft.

Personnally, I don't think it was an attention getter or a suicide attempt. I think he just got loaded up on Pain Killers and was "running his neck" to the witnesses. An ego like that does not want to kill itself.

I read a comment from another message board and was amazed at the utter lack of compassion. A prime candidate for sensitivity training to be sure!

IF at first you don't succeed, try try again. Too bad Nicollette Sherdian from Desparate Whores wasn't with him. A double suicide is so much more romantic.

This whole fiasco was perfect theater for the morons who can't get enough of Don King's America. Anyone who accepts this "incident" as anything other than a WWF-style spectacle is very naive, imho. First of all, egotistical monsters with extremely low intelligence, like "T.O.," are the least likely people to commit suicide. They simply love themselves too much. Second, no matter what the truth is behind this supposed "incident," there is no way that any self-respecting hospital would release a patient who may have attempted suicide without waiting at least 24 hours. Even if they believed his ridiculous story, that is standard medical procedure everywhere in the U.S. And even if they somehow did release him, are you going to tell me that the Cowboys are going to let him PRACTICE that afternoon? Come on! What a joke.

The NFL is becoming more and more like pro rassling every day. This "storyline" could have been written by Vince McMahon, right down to absurd "advisors" Michael Irvin and Deion Sanders standing by the troubled, depressed "T.O." These kinds of wildly overpublicized stories just provide me with further reason to think that pro football is a show, with bogus competition, drama queens everywhere and games that are contrived and fixed.

Compassion? What for? Do you honestly think that if the races were reversed, black people would really care if a White athlete went through this? In fact, say for example, a certain White reciever (think dyed blonde hair, currently inactive) did the same thing. Could you imagine the verbal abuse that player would fall victim to, from the likes of such people as Stephen A. Smith? White people don't get support from blacks in incidents like this, they get further abused instead.

I've heard posters on this site say that blacks want White people to suffer, any which way they can. I am one of those posters, and I firmly believe that. I'm not wishing death on this man, but I'm not feeling sorry for a person who wouldn't feel the same for me or anyone else of my race.

This is a perfect example of White guilt, with all these people pitying him. Imagine, this whole time the public thought he was this strong, macho, supa-bad black man. Well, his was revealed to be a weak, empty shell in front of millions.

As more and more information come out it appears that this incident was an accidental overdose.
So Owens is not suicidal just a dumbass like we've all long suspected.
