Here's a very good article by an Atlanta writer on how the Thrashers' ownership concentrated on pandering to the city's black hockey fans (are there any?) by signing 5 black players, or a quarter of the NHL's blacks, and promoting them instead of trying to build a winning team. As he notes, "That whole 'winning' concept has eluded ASG (Atlanta Spirit Group, the franchise's corporate owners) at almost every level. Per the 2000 Census, the city of Detroit was 81.6 percent black (at the time Atlanta was 55.8 percent), yet the stability of the Red Wings' future never hinged on developing a black fan base then or now. That's possibly because the Wings could fall back on a state of hockey-playing whites, or decades of history in their franchise, or maybe the 11 Stanley Cups."

This was written right before the team's move to Winnepeg was made official.

Nothing more clearly shows the fault of the Atlanta Spirit Group in the Thrashers' mismanagement than their trip down racial lines.

Most of the DWFs commenting on this very good article were "insulted" by it. They saw nothing wrong with bringing in black players for racial reasons.

I just learned that O'ree once got into a fight with Eric Nesterenko of the Chicago Blackhawks. Elbows flattened O'Ree leaving him with a broken nose and two less front teeth, and even called him the N word that rappers like to use.
This is unusual because Elbows was one on the best educated and cultured players in the league at that time.
O'Ree was also blind in one eye. That is dangerous. The NHL was so desperate for their Jackie Robinson, that the endagered this man's life by letting him play.

hockey night in canada has begun, and wasted no time gushing over simmons' first goal where he just planted himself in front of the net and hacked at the goalie until the puck went in.

the jets still have a few blacks left over from the atlanta experiment and the camera couldn't keep their lens off of them. good thing too. oduja got smooooked on the first two goals. the commentators lightly acknowledged that the montreal forwards 'beat' him. i doubt that if he weren't of the privileged caste that he would have been sent to the minors that night.

rom the above link on whether the NHL can take advantage of the NBA strike a commenter (Samuel Lount at 10.52am Oct 31) writes:

The sport you enjoy as an adult is the one that gripped you when you were ten years old.

The NHL might make inroads with a few people due to the NBA strike, but where we may see a "bump" in U.S. fans might be ten or fifteen years from now, at best.

As stated below, basketball fans will just turn to college ball. And I bet even the NBA doesn't really take off until after the Super Bowl; people won't turn to hockey because "nothing else is on."

If the NHL wants to make inroads into the U.S. market, it has to highlight it's black players. African Americans are the trend setters in the U.S. market-- the ones who decide what is cool and what isn't, and where the rest of the population takes it's cultural cues.

I wouldn't say it is blacks who set the trends. I'd say it is those who control the media who choose the trends. They just happen to use blacks as a battering ram for their own purposes.

Hockey is a totally different sport. The antics of black basketball players and football players would not translate well into hockey. In hockey the players govern themselves at a certain level ie. if a player acts stupid they will be targeted on the ice and be subject to justice from an enforcer repeatedly punching him in the face :) In basketball and football all players do is talk **** to each other, in hockey physical repercussions take place.

I think Calgary will actually make the postseason this year. They are only a few points out of the #8 spot, and it makes perfect sense for them to make the postseason in the year that Iginla reached 500 goals.

Just perfect for the MSM if it comes to be.. The above talking points will likely be repeated frequently by the postseason announcers.

******** Flunking Out of European Pro Hockey

An excellent CasteFootball prime article assures us that "Black Football Players Suck" and the mainstream press now reminds us that assuredly, "Black Hockey Players Suck" as well.

Not ten days ago, good ol' Wayne Simmonds and Chris Stewart were tersely ushered out of Czech Hockey for their ineffective play, and a dash of Boo Hoo Hoo White Europeans don't love us so much.

Heartbreaking, no?

But it gets better. None other than trash-talking, named after pugilist Evander Kane has been thrown out of the Minsk Hockey program. He was minus-8 and dead-last on a depth chart, and his effervescent charm and room-brightening smile were not endearing to teammates (mainstream median can't come out and say that the surly, profane, foul-mouthed Kane piszed-off Minsk management and they nearly physically pitched him out of the rink).
So here's an excerpt from Yahoo-Sports describing the exploits of future Hall-of-Famer evander kane:

"That was the word from Dinamo Minsk after Kane, the first Canadian NHLer to head overseas, only saw 11 minutes in his third game with the club. Coach Alexander Andrievsky was blunt in his explanation of the fourth-line icetime for, presumably, a first-line winger: Kane's in bad shape and not ready yet to play at the KHL level.
Apparently he never got that sorted out. After 12 games, Kane and the team have decided to part ways, according to a press release on the Dinamo Minsk website. We'll turn to CP for the translation:

Kane had one goal, no assists and was a minus-8 in his 12 games since joining the team following the start of the NHL lockout.

"Unfortunately, Evander Kane could not adapt to hockey in the KHL," athletic director Igor Matushkin said on the team's website as Kane's departure was announced.

He suggested it was a mutual decision and the team and Kane parted on good terms."

So let's re-state it again for emphasis: Black Hockey Players S*ck.

Lockout Note: Many news sources describe a very angry Philadelphia Flyers owner Ed Snider is about to crash the Bettman lockout. He already kiboshed the 2-week "moratorium" that Bettman tried to engineer, and both sides go back to negotiating immediately! Snider himself says (paraphrasing) that we "listened" to Bettman and he didn't deliver. We got an extended stike, and no sign of getting major revenue concessions.

I've maintained from the start that this NHL lockout is all about humiliating White players and fans and hopeful about killing the sport altogether -- it's too hideously White. But owners and Yid-man didn't count on the KHL, European and North American other leagues happily scooping up the good NHL players and getting on with business.

It's good to see that the NHL is yet to fully surrender to the Congo. A lot has to do with the negro puck playas being terrible. In my opinion more players of Amerindian, Hispanic or West Indian descent would not besmirch the traditions, culture and identity of the NHL as opposed to having a fuxation of puck playas who would completely change the culture of the NHL just like they have every other sport. The NHL really is the last white man created league and last line of defense.

Tack On Two Extra Suspension Games

Caps Defenseman John Erskine elbowed Flyers Forward Wayne Simmonds in Friday night's evening game in the District of Corruption.

Erskine "caught him with an elbow" to prevent a breakaway or "odd-man rush." Not terribly evil, this hit, would have provoked a one-game suspension from the NHL brass. I watched it about ten times.

Only problem: The fellow that Erskine hit was a Negro. Cha-chingg!! Three game suspension instead of one. :tape:
