BTW, John Gruden was so impressed with Blount's 4.1 yards per carry and no TDs that he just said he is running "like a man possessed" and that he doesn't see guys like "Peyton Hillis" and Brandon Jacobs do what Blount is doing. And then Tampa punted again.

The media programming has to be stepped up in cases like that, or else the brainwashing starts to lose its effect. The Colts defense, which hasn't really been good since Peyton Manning arrived, is looking atrocious once again.

Peyton wasn't getting any younger, and Indy's management simply dropped the ball. I figured that he would struggle to stay healthy into his late 30's (for example, d-linemen are heavier these days).

Their management is not "as brilliant" as proclaimed. The ball was also dropped on the defensive side for many years. "Geniuses?" OK..

Chucky just said that "we used to give Alstott the ball like that." Hah! Is that guy delusional? Gruden never let Alstott carry the ball - he pretty much ended his career more than the neck injury did.

I recall one game under Gruden's reign that Alstott was fed the ball due to the starting and backup tailbacks being injured. Gruden is such a hack it's not even funny....:thumbdown:

Your theory sounds very plausible. Given Hillis' measured response of "ask the coach" after the game, which clearly reflected his unhappiness with his role in Shurmur's offense, I can easily envision such a scenario.

The good news here is that Hillis is really showing a lot more gumption than any other white NFL player in recent memory. I fully expected him to hang his head and declare, "I'm happy just to be here- if they want me to play fullback and concentrate on blocking, then I'll do that." Instead, it appears that behind the scenes he is alienating the coaching staff and probably a number of black and pathetic white teammates with his awareness of the situation. Note that even Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that a number of the Browns players feel that Hillis could have played last week, but allowed his contract issues to interfere. The other bright spot here is the guts Evan Moore is showing in advocating for himself, and the fact so many DWFs recognize his skills and are questioning his glaring lack of usage as well. Some even noted that Shurmur was playing the horrific Alex Smith far more often than Moore. This is really something new- a backup with so much to risk like Moore publicly questioning why his coach isn't playing him more. I love it!

Also congrats to the two black Browns players who did issue public statements supporting Hillis. No white players, though. Instead, we had C Alex Mack talk nonsensically about having "two good backs" that both need to play, etc. What crap. Combined with McCoy's ridiculous words of love last week for Hardesty, this probably shows that outside of probably the equally disgrunted Moore, Hillis may not have the support of other white players.

First off, Bigunreal, a kudos to you, as your recent series of posts on Peyton Hillis has been outstanding, so I appreciate your insight.

I encourage everyone to check out the various articles and message boards on cleveland.com, inluding the latest one posted by Bigunreal. You'll find that there's near unanimous support for Hillis (and also Evan Moore), so the CLE fans are winning me over. They appear to be a different breed of DWF. It's probably true that this support for Hillis may be in part due to the absolutely dismal play of that bum Hardesty, but there's no denying that Hillis has connected with the fan base, just like in Denver. And it's not because he's some token White player, he's actually damn good.

So, Walrus & Schurmur have bet on the wrong horse to try and marginalize Hillis because Hardesty stinks. He cannot catch the ball, and he does not have anywhere near Hillis's overall skills as a RB. He doesn''t belong out there in a committee approach, he just needs to see maybe 20% of the overall touches/snaps, and Hillis should be the main man. I bet they are surprised at the backlash they are receiving by the fans and the media.

Of course, it also doesn't help that Schurmur has proven to be an incapable play-caller. Some of the running plays we've seen thus far are so ridiculous, that you have to almost wonder if they are designed to make Hillis fail on purpose. No running back in the league can gain any yards with that sort of play-calling, not to mention the dismal play of the offensive line.

In any event, it's too bad we have a bye week and have to wait two weeks to find out how things will play out. Anything short of Hillis getting a minimum of 20 carries and at least 5 receptions is unacceptable for the next game and going forward.

I think this guy Josh Freeman might be the best black QB in the game today. But the point is, he's on an all black team with a black head coach. At some point, they'll screw up somehow. The only unkown factor is just what it is they'll do to louse themselves up.

Pierre Garcon took both of his two catches to the house in Monday's loss to the Bucs, finishing with 146 yards.

Garcon is going to get a ton of attention for his effort, but let's be the first to rain on his parade. CB Aqib Talib put himself in no man's land in a deep zone assignment on Garcon's first 87-yard strike, and Garcon's second 59-yard strike on a screen pass should be used as an instructional video on how not to tackle or cover. In other words he had very little to do with the outcome, and Curtis Painter's 26-of-69 (37.7%) career passing mark is a bit more important. Yes, we called him intriguing in deeper leagues heading into tonight, but if there was ever a 146-yard performance that didn't raise somebody's stock -- it is this.

I watched some of the game and was shocked at that first drop Garcon had. A pee wee football player could have made that catch. The announcers did mention that he has a problem with drops but since he's black he won't be demoted or suffer any repercussions from the coaching staff especially after the two gift touchdowns he was given last night.

and when they mentioned his drop problem they also said he was second to Wes Welker, however, thing to keep in mind is that while Welker makes tough catches in traffic on a lot of short routes and has 100000 targets, the other one plays flanker and simply can't catch. biiig difference.

So there is no doubting he is Black, it's not a more ridiculous case of being Black like many first Black cases in golf or swimming he clearly looks mulatto looking.

Brothers, we've seen this all before with JAX trotting out MJD, giving him ample carries, and having Garrard simply "manage the game." Even though LeGarrette Blount is much-easier to tackle than MJD, this is still the "NFL" we are talking about.

In week 2's Tampa/Minnesota game, I recall Minnesota having a similar strategy of heavy use of AP (and he got a bunch of yards) and McNabb the game-manager. Naturally, "McNabb and AP" should be able to defeat Freeman/Blount, but i see a couple of reasons that didn't happen..

Not only is McNabb fading fast, but Minnesota has built leads, only to show the world that something major is LACKING with the players/coaches... KILLER INSTINCT. I've never been high on McNabb, but it's like Minnesota picked up their "veteran QB" and put him on a leash. That's dumb, and the 0-4 record is a reflection of that (they should be around 2-2 now). Remember, it wasn't long ago that Favre was with Minnesota and he was GUNNING IT downfield..

Much of Freeman's yardage came from repeated dumpoffs in the middle of the field that the Colts amazingly couldn't figure out how counteract; the Colts LBs would keep backing way off the line of scrimmage and Freeman would throw it time and again to the man in the undefended middle of the field. Let's hear again about those "complicated" NFL defenses.

Even Littlejon Gruden was repeatedly saying something about the Colts needing to change their coverage to stop the Blackaneers. The NFL game is really a parody of its former (pre-Caste) self. Sad.

Jackson is very inconsistent and probably a career game from him, I wouldn't expect it again. Cutler is in a bad situation playing for Chicago with his oline and receivers. They gave his best receiving threat to Carolina (they rarely used him while he was there).

The only good ones I would say are Freeman, who is having a down year and was outplayed by Painter who was drafted as a project and Vick, who is in decline. Painter doesn't have a running game, and should probably learn not to target Garcon so much, yes he can make 1 or 2 big plays but only if you target him 8 to 10 times. Thats exactly what happened 2 catches out of 8 targets.

Why would you go to the trouble of making this comparative chart with the misleading analysis that most of the black quarterbacks outplayed their counterparts? The truth is most of them LOST and most of them had lower passer ratings then their White opponent.
