Patriots waived OG Tre' Jackson. The No. 111 overall pick of the 2015 draft, Jackson was a nine-game starter as a rookie, but started experiencing knee issues that eventually sidelined him for all of 2016. Evidently he's still not 100 percent. Jackson turned 24 in December.

Hernandez was a fool. He had signed a lucrative, long term contract with the Patriots and ended up being convicted of murder.

Hernandez was a good enough player that, if he had stayed out of trouble, the Patriots might have won one or two more Super Bowls.

Instead he ends up in prison and now dead.

Yeah, he was recently acquitted of the murder of two other people. The scum was likely a mass murderer, a complete waste of tax dollars to warehouse in a prison for another 40 or 50 years. Good riddance!

7 years ago at age 20, he was an All American at Florida with Saint Tebow, today he's dead at 27. Pretty crazy this guy played with All time greats at Coach and QB and threw it all away. From what I hear he's a psychopath and the PCP definitely didn't do him any favors upstairs. This story is going to stick around for awhile. REALLY bad PR for NFL right now!!

Some positive news a week before the draft. Hopefully Jace is able to secure a roster spot and make an impact. Many of our guys who go undrafted next week are going to have to take the same route - UDFA - perform well in the preseason, get stashed on a practice squad, have positive "buzz" during the season but never get a chance and do it all again in year two.

Golden Tate singled out second-year WR Jace Billingsley as a player who could earn more playing time this season.

Tate obviously isn't making personnel decisions in Detroit, but this isn't the first time Billingsley's name has come up this offseason. Dubbed "White Thunder" by Tate, Billingsley is a small, shifty slot receiver at 5'8/189. "He reminds me a lot of a younger me," Tate said. "Just very, very shifty. I think he’s got some running back in him. ... I hope to see him out there. I trust him. I think he’s a heck of a player." The slot job is open with Anquan Boldin still a free agent.

Hernandez had it all. He showed obvious traits of being a great player. He was raised in a middle class hood and parents that cared. His father died in 2006 and he succumbed to the glamourise gangsta life. What a mistake. He was able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

As is the tradition the Pats visited the white House yesterday. Typically these are rather frivolous ceremonial events that offer a touch of amusement and makes for a brief news interlude. The champs get to bask in the glory and then we move on. But the general media treated this event as some meaningful political crossroads test and dissected who declined to go and even had interviews with players like Alan Branch who skipped the event because he was offended by the lewd comments Trump made in the trailer back when. You mean at Michigan or wherever he has played he has not heard some crude language in the locker rooms in all these years? He does not have to like it fine but the guy acted like he went to Seminary school. But to me the media and their race bating was too much to bear as they tried to make this event into a major story. Malcolm Mitchell was being interviewed and he was saying all the proper stuff and was honored to be there and be mentioned by the Prez by name. Then the ******* reporter(s) asked two offensive questions. One about Hernandez, who he never played with and another about the guys who declined to go. They couldn't let the guy bask in the fun and had to soil it up with such idiotic race bating questions.

Jake Long was one of the best tackles in the league even as a rookie until injuries took a toll.

Free agent OT Jake Long announced his retirement after nine seasons. As we head into draft week, Long, the No. 1 overall pick in 2008, hangs up his cleats. As soon as he stepped on the field, Long was one of the premier left tackles in the sport. He made the Pro Bowl each of his first four seasons and was named a first-team All Pro in 2010. In 2011, injuries started to ruin Long's career. He suffered a back injury, snapping a 61-game starting streak, then tore his biceps later in the year. Long signed a four-year deal with the Rams in 2013 and suffered his second torn ACL in 2014. He made pit stops with the Falcons and Vikings in 2015 and 2016 and suffered a torn Achilles' last year with Minnesota, effectively ending his career.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones says LB Jaylon Smith (knee, nerve issue) is regaining feeling in his toes. The injury Smith suffered in his final college game was catastrophic, leaving behind nerve damage. One year after the Cowboys made him the No. 34 overall pick, Smith is finally making real progress. He's expected to participate in the offseason program, but probably won't be full-go.

Lets hope so he'll be competing with Barclay for a Guard spot. Anxious to see what they do. I've seen several draftniks out there linking Mixon to GB as well.. I'd like to see them go either Lamp, Watt, or Gerry with 29th pick depending how things work out. Mixon shouldn't be on any sane teams radar. We all know he'll get picked way too soon based off his upside and potential. Let's just hope it's to a thug ridden team like Black Jack's Raiders and not Green Bay!

The got Fackrell last year - Watt doesn't play safety or cb which is the big need for the packers - their secondary sucks.

Just saw that tall and fast former BYU wide receiver Mitch Matthews is with the Vikings now. They have at least 3, maybe 4, White WRs at the moment! The reason this even crossed my radar was that his mother passed from cancer and new teammate Stefan Diggs sent him a heartfelt message. Seems like a good guy.
