I thought Janikowski scored low because it wasn't in his native language? He might be a meathead but I doubt he is in the 9 range for the wonderlic, probably would have scored in the teens.

it's not his native language, no, so at least he has an excuse.

but then again, English is not a native language of most of these black prospects

Hey Backrow, where did you meet Janikowski? I saw him play once at Giants Stadium when Florida State played there back in 1999 I think it was. I really don't think he's as unintelligent as his Wonderlic score but who knows. I know he loves to get into bar fights, or at least he did.

Rob Rang of CBS Sports has Jared Crick ranked 30th on his "big board."

30. Jared Crick, DE, Nebraska: Crick missed the final eight games of the Huskers' season -- including the Capitol One Bowl -- and the Senior Bowl with a torn pectoral, but that won't keep scouts from grading the 2010 All-American as a first-round talent based on his potential to line up inside or out depending on the defensive scheme of the team that drafts him come April.

Just saw this blurb on Draft Daddy: "Despite running a 5.7/40 at the Combine, Missouri's Dominique Hamilton listed among Top 10 3-4 Defensive Ends Prospects by NFP Draft tracker."

Rich Eisen ran a 6.08 40 this year at the Combine, as part of an annual comedic ritual making fun of how slow he is. In another year or two Eisen may be running faster than some of the World's Greatest Athletes at the Combine projected to be first and second round draft choices.

At least Cleveland didn't trade up for him. Of course I only care about the Browns if they re-sign Hillis. If they don't, I want the Caste Walrus's third year to be even worse than the past two.

I wonder if Shanahan had any say in this. He doesn't seem the type of coach to want to have a quarterback like Griffin and he was known to trade down for more picks. I think this is all Snyder. The funny thing is, Luck isn't locked in at number 1. The Redskins have a ton of other holes to fill besides qb either way.

I knew Snyder would win out in this absurd sweepstakes. He has to be the most idiotic owner in the history of pro sports. No way Shanahan approved of this. I'm betting he and his son are livid about throwing away more draft picks on this wildly overhyped afflete.

The move, not surprisingly, is very popular in the D.C. area. However, if Irsay caves into pressure and makes RGIII the first pick, I'm betting public sentiment will not be quite as favorable.

Under Shanahan, the Redskins had actually undergone a gradual whitening the past few years. Forget about all that now- rooting for them at this point would be like cheering Tiger Woods on.

Get ready for the Jason Campbell experience times a zillion.

Gentlemen,

As you know, I don't own a tv, so I pretty much have to listen to you guys about these black players. But, this "RGIII" must have some ability. Where would you put him as far as the existing nfl qbs go? Do you think he's as good as vick, tavaras Jackson and the guy in Tampa, etc? Do you think he's at least as good as any of the White starting qbs arounds. What about Sanchez with the Jets? Is he as good or better than him do you think?

RGIII has great athletic ability, he is fast and has a strong arm. From what I understand, he has zero experience at "reading" a defense during his college career. You can get away with this at the college level if you are fast enough, however that has not translated at the pro-level. I predict his career will mirror that of Michael Vick. The redskins will win an additional 2-3 games a year based on his ability to run, until he reaches the age of 26. After a couple of lower leg injuries, he will realize he needs to modify his game, and will try to become more of pocket passer. That is a best case scenario. As far as the trade goes, that was absolute stupidity on the part of Dan Snyder and the redskins. The rams can really build on this draft, especially when you consider the rams in all likelihood will be able to get players like Jared Crick and Harrison Smith with their two 2nd round picks.

Thats the thing, its really hard to evaluate him in that offense that he was in.

He has the 2nd ranked receiver in this years draft and the number 2 guy is rated number 2 at wr in next year's draft. The other guys aren't too bad as well.

He really only ran on zone read plays, thats where his big run plays came from. He didn't get much yardage when the pocket collapsed on him. He didn't show much awareness when there was pressure but the offense was so wide open that didn't happen much

He never had to fit he ball into tight windows, his receivers were usually open by several yards, and he never really had to throw a guy open and anticipate a route like a pro qb will have to do.

Basically he has the tools to be a successful qb but there is no telling whether it will actually translate into being an NFL qb. There have been plenty of qbs with the tools to be qb that have failed. He has adequate height at 6'2, although a little thin, even though he is listed at 220 he looks skinny.

He has a very strong arm and everyone raves about his deep ball, but the ones I have seen have a little too much air time. He doesn't have much touch on shorter throws. A common theme among those "rocket arm black quarterbacks"

He is supposedly a genius (funny how that seems to be a negative for a White qb, if he is "too smart") since he is getting his masters.... I believe it is in communications. He did finish undergraduate school in 3 years or less, but having attended multiple universities I don't believe this is an indicator of superior intelligence. The stuff they teach you is not that hard.
However, it does indicate hard work, at least imo. I would like to see his wonderlic to see how fast he actually processes information. Students do get accommodations if they prove they have trouble in certain areas. I know a guy who is now working on his masters and had a 3.7 gpa, but spent hours getting help from tutors (which is free for athletes) and got extended time on all of his tests.

Football is complicated but its not rocket science. The main thing is processing information quickly. Running the zone read is basic. If the defender is coming at you then hand it off or pitch, if not then run. The passing stuff gets more complicated in the NFL, the stuff he was running in college wasn't.

The only thing is that last year we have seen a team change its offense to accomodate a player, Cam Newton, who never got any flak for it. Tebow runs the basic zone read with little variation and no creativity of making the passing game dangerous with it, and he got a ton of crap for it.

Since he didn't have to make hard throws in college, it would have been nice to see him actually throw at the combine, but he refused. Luck did as well but we have seen him throw in an NFL style offense. Throwing at his pro day will be more scripted and more to suit his strengths and not expose his flaws.

His speed is pretty much all straight line, he isn't as elusive as you would like, for instance Big Ben doesn't have elite speed in a straight line but great at being elusive in the pocket.

People will cite his high completion rate but if you saw the throws you will see that the stats don't mean much in terms of accuracy in the NFL. Even if they do suit the offense around him the windows will be smaller and the pocket will collapse much quicker and he will have to process things faster. He won't have two top tight ends, two 1k rushers and a pro bowl wide receiver to work with in Washington.

To sum up the very long post I have just made, the hype around him is basically around his upside/potential. I would put him more in the Vick range than Tavaris Jackson. Basically a wide receiver that has the ability to throw playing quarterback. I don't think he will be awful like Tavaris, but he will be a project and hard to tell if he will be a top qb. It will be very hard to live up to 3 first round picks and a 2nd but Im sure if he becomes just an average qb they won't list him as a bust. This is another desperate attempt to "Revolutionize the qb position". He'll probably make a few highlight reel plays with his feet and they will replay it constantly.

Really disappointed/angry to see that the Redskins did this but I should of expected it. A poorly run organization - I hope this is the nail in the coffin of Shanahan's career. Reminds me of 7 years ago when Gibbs traded for his black savior Jason Campbell in the draft and that fizzled out but not without the constant excuses. I will expect the same number of excuses for Griffin when he fails. Off the top of my head I think the Redskins are the only team to have spent two first round picks on Quoatbacks.

All the black and DWFs are probably so happy they get their second great black hope at QB in under a decade.

I laughed out loud when I heard about this trade. Congratulations to the Rams for fleecing Dan Snyder. This trade will set the Redskins back another 5-10 years.

The Titans have been the pioneers in black quarterbacks, taking Steve McNair and Vince Young among the first five picks in their respective draft years.

We shouldn't be worried about Griffin. Even if he's good it really doesn't change anything for black quarterbacks. Very few of them are any good and I expect Newton to regress this year just like Freeman.

We should instead focus on Andrew Luck. Here is a statement from Charley Casserly from NFL Network.

The Stanford star is quite possibly the most NFL-ready quarterback I've ever scouted.

Luck has the potential to be as good as Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Drew Brees, maybe even better. Reggie Wayne is on his way out and will probably play for whatever team Manning signs with. Maybe, just maybe Collie becomes a starter and a Luck to Collie combination would be awesome.

It would awesome if they got Peyton Hillis. A strong running game helps a rookie ease into the NFL, the Colts haven't had that in a while. He can make due without one but he is going to have to do extremely well to be considered worthy of drafted number 1 and quarterbacks are no longer given a few years to develop. I hope they use Collie correctly, they have insisted on using him in the slot, where he has gotten multiple concussions, instead of on the outside where he is better suited for.

Yes, having Collie and Hillis with Luck would certainly be an offense to root for. We can dream can't we? The Colts aren't stupid and will use the first pick on Luck.

Sadly, Chris Galippo had a poor Pro Day.

Chris Galippo, LB (6-1 3/8, 239) — He ran 4.8 and 4.81 in the 40. He was at the combine.

Purdue OLB ran an unofficial 40 of 4.47 I think they moved it to a 4.56 but that's still outstanding speed for this guy!

Post-Pro Day Videos: Linebacker Joe Holland was among the former Purdue Boilermakers who had great showings at Pro Day.

**
NIU LB Pat Schiller has NFL potential!

Green Bay, Seattle and Indianapolis among the teams impressed with linebacker Pat Schiller at Northern Illinois' Pro Day.

**OSU Linebacker Andrew Sweat runs 4.5!

Related Item: More info from Ohio State's Pro Day, with a focus on ex-Buckeye linebacker Andrew Sweat.

Thank you for this information! He is an incredible athlete, and a very instinctive linebacker.

Hey, if you're a Blackskins fan, it still could turn out great. If the hype train continues rolling down the track at full throttle, maybe the Colts will grab all of that "upside" and then the 'Skins will end up with Andrew Luck, which will probably make all of those draft picks a bargain.
