Russel Wilson has the skill and talent level of a decent, journeyman second string quarterback.
However since he's Black and it's a fact that most Black quarterbacks absolutely suck, and Wilson does not suck, his middling talent is glorified to insane levels, and he is given not only opportunities to make mistakes and succeed, but also to be an instant starter.
He also has the good fortune, since he's Black, to be supported by the media and the mass of idiot fans who don't know any better. It must be easier to succeed when everyone is pulling for you when you do well, and says, "that's okay," or deflects blame onto others if you make errors.
Wilson is also fortunate to have a good supporting team around him to mask his merely average abilities vis-a-vis leadership, skill, and raw talent.
If he were placed in a horrifying position of being one of the few talented people (not that he's talented at all) on a team and relied upon to make a silk purse out of a bunch of Black imbeciles, as is the plight of many White quarterbacks, the story will be far, far different.
Contrast Wilson's story to that of Johnny Manziel, who is in every conceivable way a superior athlete and person, and you have the NFL in a nutshell.
