Gentlemen, gentlemen....you are all missing the obvious point. We
don't have a "two-party monopoly," ans Mr. Wassall suggests. We
have a one-party dictatorship, no different from the Soviet
Union. (Remember, there were "elections" in the USSR, where the
people had their choice of 2 or 3 Communist Party members). Our
system is no different; we have the choice of choosing between 2 or 3
members of the Federal Party (regardless of whether they are of the
Democrat or Republican FACTION of the Federal Party).
Don't believe me? Consider this: Dems and Reps -- who publicly
profess to despise each other -- ALWAYS work hand-in-glove to keep
third party and independent candidates off of state and national
ballots. Gee, I wonder why? Is it because they don't want
anyone crashing the Federal Party?
Additional proof that we have a one-party system --- Neither "party",
when rising to power, dismantles ANY of the bureaucratic apparatus
installed by the other "party." Take the federal Department of
Education, for example: it was created by Jimmy Carter. It has no
constitutional basis to support its existence. Yet the Republican
Bushes didn't dissolve it -- in fact, W. has doubled the size of this
monstrosity.
And one more thing --- George H.W. Bush is the "prototypical" Rep and
Bill Clinton is the "prototypical" Dem. You'd think they couldn't
stand the sight of each other. But now they're buddy-buddy,
criss-crossing the country with their "unified" plan to save
America. Just another example of the One-World, One-Party
government the Bushies have envisioned for the planet.
TRUE conservative Joe Sobran (former editor of National Review)
recently wrote that elections serve a very important function in
today's America; they support the blatant fiction that we have a
two-party system. So true, so true.
