Same here Freethinker. Back in 2017 it was Trout, Kole Calhoun, and a young 1B prospect named CJ Cron. Cron, I believe, had to split time with the aging Albert Puljols. The Angels finally traded Cron and now Cron is leading the league for Colorado in HR's, 7 and RBI's, 18. A mistake on the Angels part.

Yes! They were tied into that terrible contract for a washed up Puljols and he accordingly stole at bats. At least now they have Walsh, who’s a pretty good young player in his own right. With Cron thriving elsewhere it’s a win win.

After going 2-2 in his first two at bats including his 6th HR, Mike Trout was walked three straight times. That's ok. His OBP just soared to a league leading .481. He leads in slugging and OBP and OPS+ as well.
Keep putting Trout on base. It looks like the Angels have the fire power now to get him across the plate and score runs. He scored 3 times today. The Angels are in first place in the AL West.

The Angels have always been watchable because of Mike Trout who most consider to be the best player in all of MLB. I don't see how he isn't and it's not even close in my
honest opinion. Now they finally have surrounded him with some talent. Like you said if teams continue to walk him the Angels will make the opposing team pay more often
than not. It's a win/win situation. Of course I would much rather see teams pitch to him though as I want him to continue rising on all of the offensive categories.

To Carolina Speed. If you had to make a guess right now on Trouts career home run total what would it be. I see 600 minimum. He has to stay healthy though and also teams
need to pitch to him. Like I said before Bonds and many other all time greats were not walked nearly as much as Trout. For his all time hitting categories it may keep him from
reaching the milestones we had hoped for. I will await your response. Thanks.

WL, it's interesting you asked about where I thought Trout would end up home run wise. I was just comparing Trout's career to Hank Aaron because he is the all-time home run leader pre steroid era at 755. I was trying to figure where Trout would be in what amounts to him missing two full seasons of his career right smack in the middle of his prime. Ages 28 and 29 seasons. It's a shame. He would probably be at the 400 home run total already, however, there's nothing we can do about that now. He hit his 316th career HR today. Trout had 310 after age 29 season, Aaron had 343, again Trout has missed two full seasons games wise. Aaron only hit 24 HR's during his year 30 season giving him 367 career home runs after his age 30 season. That put Trout 57 homeruns behind. Trout is on pace to hit 49 home runs this season. If he goes on to hit 49, he will only be 8 home runs off of Aaron's pace. Incredible considering the time Trout has missed.
With all that said, it's so difficult to predict how many home runs Trout will hit. Will he stay healthy? How long will he play? Remember to, there was a lockout which almost cost him part of this season as well. However, I will say barring any more of the calamities I just mentioned, Trout should easily reach 600. I would say between 600-650 conservatively. He could very well hit 700 if he plays long enough. When you break down all the intricate stats the nerds keep up with, Trout is actually getting better with time. We've never seen anything like him. I truly believe, again barring any more catastrophes, Trout will go down as the GOAT.
BTW. Bonds is the all time leader in walks. He lead the league 12 times as well. Trout has led the league 3 times, but probably would have lead at least 5-6 had he not been injured for the better part of two seasons.

Angels win 8-0 last night at Fenway. Ohtani pitches 7 scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts and goes 2-4 at the plate. Mike Trout did not play. Apparently it was just a day of rest to keep him fresh. Last night was the Angels’ 14th out of a 20 consecutive game stretch without a day off. You can’t rest Trout by letting him DH, without sitting Ohtani. They’ve gone 10-4 on this stretch, and Joe Maddon’s a great manager. So, I guess it makes sense.

now has 6 home runs on the year. The game is still going and he is 2-3 so far. His average had been dipping alot lately with more strikeouts than I'm used to
seeing him get. I think because they walk him so much he has been trying to swing at too many bad pitches. He is back on track and maybe he can add to these
numbers as the game is still going with the Angels winning 11-3.

Right. Bench him while he's hot and can help the Angels keep winning. He's already missed five games including sitting out a game just last week. Amazing how Cal Ripken Jr. played in 2,632 straight games. A record that will never be broken! The local cable station had the game on, but no Trout. I was looking forward to watching him play.

The official story is he is “still feeling sick after a stomach illness last week. He’s available off the bench.” But he had a great game last night. It looks like they are going to waste another great Ohtani start.

An interesting early development in the MLB season is a quintet of speedy White goys amongst the league leaders in steals. Tied for 3rd with 8 a piece is Kyle Tucker, Harrison Bader, Myles Straw, Tommy Edman and Eli White. The leaders have 10.

I’d like to highlight White, who’s been recently getting more playing time for the Rangers. He’s only had 43 ABs this year, whereas the average player right now has around 120 or so. So the fact he’s got 8 steals is incredible. I’d like to see if he can build on that and get more consistent starts.

Edit to add: Bader and Edman each picked up their 9th steal today.

Good post Freethinker…..and Whit Merrifield, last years AL leader 42 stolen bases only has 5. His batting average is below .200 and his OBP is below.300. Hopefully he’ll start heating up and challenge for the league lead again

Mike Trout with 3 hits and a monster home run tonight. Good to see that power. He gets alot of hits as we all know he is a great hitter. With all of the time lost I really want
him to have a monster season with the home runs! I think from ages 30-34 he needs to really pick up the pace with the long ball. I want him to at least do what Jim Thome did making the 600 home run club. It's rare territory there. Yes it's years away but I'm already excited to watch the chase for 600 and hopefully eventually 700 home runs!

I always enjoy seeing our guys steal bases. Successful base stealing is as much mental as it is about speed - it's a brain game knowing when to go and when to stay. A lot of White players are pretty damn good at both. You'll occasionally see one of our guys caught stealing but when someone is out by a mile it's almost never one of ours.

Right on cue! Did you read my post yesterday? Glad to see Trout showing that massive power and athletecism. This guy could have been a great football player and Trout
could have probably played just about any sport he wanted. I'm just happy he chose Baseball. He is a Natural and a 5 Tool Player.

Yes WL. In addition to the home runs Trout got off to a fast start scoring runs. Early on he was way ahead of Rickey Henderson record pace, but the last two years have derailed that record. He scored his 999th career run with that Home Run. He would have been at 1199 if not for missing 2 full seasons due to injuries. I hope he plays long enough to score 2,000 runs.
