Yes another slow weekend with two club fight cards. The British card has some White prospects on it and Parker is in tough against Buatsi but if Parker is the goods he should beat Buatsi who is a level below Bivol or Beterbiev.

The US card has Afro Cuban Lenier Pero headlining the card he and his brother were compared to the K brothers but aside from the sibling storyline they don't have the talent nor size of either K brother.

Pat Brown looks a beast at Cruiserweight. Seriously heavy handed.

I forgot Brown was a Brit when I saw the name I assumed he was a American Black or Mulatto prospect.

On to more important things he has potential to get to the top if he can knock out a very good gatekeeper for a now 5 and 0 prospect his opponent in the recent past fought elite fighters in the light heavyweight division, he even took Mulatto prospect Tristan Kalkreuth the distance but Kalkreuth isn't nearly the puncher Brown is.

PS Pero labored to a decision over Jordan Thompson and Hearn told media members that Pero needs to take his job more seriously if he wants to make it to the top of the division as he clearly had a paunch and couldn't dominate Thompson who was destroyed by Opetaia. This seems to be a pattern among Afro-Cuban heavyweights who while under tight raps with minders in Cuba look trim but when they have freedom to eat what they want they blow up to waddling butterballs and sabotage their careers.

https://www.boxingscene.com/article...nk-davis-is-officially-off-promoter-announcesPS2 The Paul vs Davis circus fight is off and with 2 weeks before the fight was to be fought it looks like this will stick. Davis' domestic violence issues seem to have derailed the bout.

The boxing schedule for this weekend. Ortiz Jr. vs Lubin is the headliner. Otto Wallin is fighting on YouTube Friday night.
Ortiz vs Lubin is the blue ribbon bout of the weekend. Wallin vs Thomas should be a walkover bout if Wallin is anything close to his prime as Thomas is a blown up cruiserweight who has been a B side foil to prospects. On the Ortiz card two Swedish nationals fight on the card but neither are native Swedes. I have noticed that aside from the rare ethnic Swede most have been ethnic Balkan, Mulattos or full blooded Africans types. Sweden banned professional combat sports and further stigmatized combat sports so this is probably the end result of that.

https://www.boxingscene.com/article...s-ready-for-huge-step-up-against-agit-kabayelUpdating non weekend news and Agit Kabayel is fighting Polish prospect/fringe contender Damian Knyba for the WBC interim belt in January. I don't like this one for the Polish fighter as it's huge step up from human target Joey Dawejko to probably the number 1 contender in the world. I would think an interim step of a Chisora type would be mandatory for the Pole to have a realistic shot of beating the peaking Kurd based out of Germany.

Updating the weekend fight results as I speculated Wallin had no problems with the blown up Thomas who he dispatched of in less than 2 rounds. It was the boxing equivalent of a walk off homerun.

Also Ortiz destroyed the probably chin cracked Lubin the tough Castizo destroyed his opponent who was trapped on the ropes similar to Tommy Morrison against Ray Mercer, the one difference was the referee recognized the out on his feet Lubin and jumped in very quickly or we could have had a tragedy in the ring.

Picking up the slack for reporting on the weeks televised cards the big card of week is the rematch of Eubank Jr. vs Benn Jr. The two half caste sons fought a modern classic in their first fight. I didn't expect the action I saw in the fight as Jr. Eubank has had weight making issues for years and made weight and had no energy issues. I have no predictions of the rematch but the history of rematches are usually the return bout isn't as compelling as the first fight.

Jack Catteral has the chief support bout of the PPV card, once again a loss would be huge setback if Catteral wants to get a third bite at the championship apple. Unbeaten but untested Tommy Welch is the B side in a cross roads bout against the more proven Richard Riakporhe. I don't know who Welch has beaten who could be a good stepping stone to Riakporthe but most likely this is a mission to nowhere.

On Saturday evening White Mexican Rafael Espinoza defends his WBO featherweight title against Ukrainian national but ethnic East Asian Arnold Khegai. I forget the back story behind why Khegai is based out of Ukraine but when the Soviet Union was a nation many East Asians from Korea and China emigrated to the country and this could be the back story behind his family being from the Ukraine.

This fight is broadcast on the obscure site of Top Rank Classics, this might be a website or a Youtube substation as Top Rank no long has an over the air deal with a US network.

Also the biggest outside the ring news is Joseph Parker failing a post fight drug screen for cocaine so even if he had won the bout last week he would have been disqualified. This is a strange one as Parker has never shown the erratic behaviour of past cocaine users like Aaron Pryor or Hector Camacho.

https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_...arker-failed-drug-test-day-fabio-wardley-lossA long suspension could be in the works and his career momentum could be in a free fall similar to the saga of Big Idiot Miller in the last few years...

I missed the Gilley vs Davis fight and Gilley might have gotten the short end of the stick in this one as the announcing team seemed to favor Gilley.

As I speculated Welch was in over his head against Riakporhe but the stoppage might have been a bit too early as hit the deck three times but was never wobbly but seemed to bowled over by single power shots from the former cruiserweight. I forgot that Welch was the son of former WBO title challenger Scott Welch. It seems like his pops had a better chin than his son as I recall him going the distance in his title fight with Henry Akinwande.
