PS the biggest news of the week are the plans of the crown prince of Saudi Arabia. Yes I thought this was a distance fight the whole way considering Lopez couldn't finish Kambosos when he stunned him. It was a smart decision by Kambosos' father to stop the fight as he would have either had to run for the 12th round or have been stopped in the 12th if he stood his ground and traded. Loma looked like a reasonable copy of his prime. Also Loma has a path to three of the belts as Top Rank promoted fighters will have these belts and the announcing team mentioned that the winner of the Top Rank side could have Tank Davis as a prize waiting for them.

Two problems for Loma are he will be pushing 40 when he and Tank could step in the ring and the boxing business could sabotage him in a tight fight with Tank similar to the Haney fight. I hope Saudi benefactors step in and make the fight happen sooner than the normal marinating date...

PS Jason Moloney lost a tight split decision to a game Mestizo Mexican national and announced his retirement to reporters but seemed to walk back that statement after cooling off. I didn't closely watch the fight but it appeared to be a tight fight but in this instance "the tie" didn't go to the hometown fighter.

Finally Lucas Browne announced his retirement after being blown out in a round by a non descript Polynesian opponent. He said he would retire to his gym to train Aussie prospects.

Yeah and hopefully Denys Berinchyk wins next week for the WBO title vs Navarette, and there's Oleksandr Gvozdyk vs Benavidez- he can cause an upset there.

I think Denys should be able to win that, Navarette is kind of weak especially after his draw with Conceicao

I think Oleksander has this, Caleb was able to win against Benavidez for the first few rounds and I think Gvozdyk is better

Looks like Sergey Kovalev had a fight today, losing by decision to an obscure, but undefeated, opponent from Sweden. Sad to see he’s still fighting as he’s one of my all time favorites.

Seems like Kovalev gassed badly. Kovalev is certainly on the physical decline even none of his power was there Vs. Pulev.

He looked totally shot beyond his heart and knowledge. The Kovalev that easily handled Pulev's kid brother would at worst been nip and tuck with the Swedish national who isn't anything close to world level. He's further slipped from that level, hopefully he hangs up the gloves and pursues other activities as boxing has a history of former contenders and champions becoming punching bags for rising prospects.

Berinchyk seemed to easily out box Navarette who couldn't do his unorthodox techniques on a naturally larger man. The tough Indian was lucky he was in with a light puncher or he could have been ko'd as he was there to be countered all night.

It should be easy work to unify the lightweight titles between Loma and his fellow countryman with Arum having a business relationship with the crown prince of Saudi Arabia both fighters could get a nice pension if the fight suits the fancy of the Saudi benefactor.

If North American posters can make time around 5pm EST on Friday in Poland Lukasz Rozanski fights spoiler Lawrence Okolie in a Bridgerweight title bout on PPV on Triller.

Normally Okolie bouts could be a cure for insomnia but the Pole will force him to fight or be overwhelmed as he is a larger Juan Roldan clone who swings for the fences.

Updating the Bridgerweight title fight and the Pole was there to be hit and Okolie the Octopus turned into a counter puncher and scored a three knockdown tko win.

PS Arslanbek Makhmudov has a comeback fight on a Quebec based card on Saturday night his original opponent withdrew due to retirement. He now has Miljan Rovcanin as an opponent I suspect this will be a showcase bout until an inevitable cross roads bout that will probably determine where the hard punching contender's career is heading...

Yes and he probably could have gotten a fight with Crawford which would have paid more than his lineal defense against Lopez. His career while not in tatters is spiraling in the wrong direction. I don't see the controversy in the judging like Arum asserts as it looked like a clear Catteral win from what I saw of the bout.

Also Makhmudov blasted out his chinny opponent in 2 rounds. Every time Rovcanin stepped up in class he has been flattened but he has gotten B side work because he still has a glossy record.

PS I found a pirate copy of the Mak fight and it has the main event which is a similar blast out by possible future Alvarez opponent Christian Mbilli

Good match-ups. I think Zhang is a sitting duck for Wilder if the Bronze Bummer has anything left. Dubois is still dangerous but damaged goods so I expect him to fold again mid to late rounds.

There are two cards on simultaneously on the DAZN with Gurgen Hovhannisyan in the semifinal bout on the competing card. He's been matched aggressively for a prospect as a few fights ago he fought Coffie who while faded was a stiff opponent for a prospect with a few pro bouts under his belt.

Concerning tomorrow Hrgovic has dealt with adversity better than Dubois. He was walking on egg shells against Zhang at points in their bout but never quit or went into a defensive shell, Dubois has taken a knee twice when there should have been fight still left in the dog so to speak.

Unless Hrgovic gets poleaxed with a shot he doesn't see he should be able to grind down Dubois.

Wilder vs Zhang is a toss up because if Wilder was still Wilder, Zhang would be made for Wilder as he doesn't have any movement and at some point Wilder would catch him but Wilder looked timid and shot against Parker. I would avoid this fight for betting purposes unless I could bet a ko for either fighter.

I could report on the fights if I watch them live but I have no clue if my Saturday afternoon will be free to watch much of the card.
