That leads the AL. Hopefully he can maintain it the rest of the season. He also got career SB # 100, which should be more like 120 or 130, but he has only attempted 16 times. 14 of 16 attempts this season.

He also leads the AL in total bases.

He now has career season highs in HR's and RBI's. 31/100.

Trout has a real shot at some all-time great numbers. He has all these stats and he's only 22 years old!!! The standard procedure is to let white kids wither on the vine in the minor leagues until they're 24 -26 years old and they don't have a chance to rack up any lifetime stats. They start out 5 years behind. Meanwhile the Hispanics and ******** start out early and get a head start on building up stats. It'd be nice to see Trout get to 20 SBs, but I don't think their is enough time left.

My guess is that Pujols has barked orders at Trout that he' doesn't want him running when he's at bat b/c it might distract him or force him to protect the runner and that would hurt Pujols stats. Pujols is a bully and was given virtual free reign by the Angels. And this is why I think Trouts SB totals are down this year.

It's pretty amazing to lead the AL in
RBIs when Trout is batting 2nd in the lineup.

Runs Batted In s c a p y
1.Trout (LAA)100
2.Abreu (CHW)99
3.Ortiz (BOS)98
4.Cabrera (DET)94
5.Martinez (DET)93
Cruz (BAL)93
Cespedes (2TM)93
8.Donaldson (OAK)89
9.Brantley (CLE)87
10.Bautista (TOR)86
Seager (SEA)86

Only 8 players in MLB history have hit 100 or more RBI's from the no. 2 spot, including Robin Yount, Ryne Sandberg, and Dwight Evans.

Trout became the youngest player in Angels history to hit 100 RBI's and is 2 RBI from becoming only the 9th player in history to get 100 from the 2 spot. Officially he's hit 98 from the 2 spot this season.

It's ridiculous to have Trout hitting 2nd if he is transitioning to a power hitter from a speed guy. He should have people in front of him on base so he can drive them in. I don't even understand the Angels line-up. Yesterday they have a cleanup hitter with 5 HR on the year and behind him a guy with 6? After Trout and Pujols the next guy with any power is Calhoun and he's leading off? I guess you can't argue with success but it's one of the most ass backwards line-ups I've see.

It looks like the Angels have 21 more games to play in the reg. season.

Trout needs 6 more runs for 100 on the year, 4 more doubles to get to 40, and 6 SBs to get to 20.

These nice round numbers will really solidify his MVP chances, with 100 runs being the most important milestone left IMO.

He still leads the league in RBIs and total bases.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia says Trout is batting 2nd because he doesn't have another guy that gets on base as often as Trout. Leadoff hitter Calhoun does a good job leading off. He can't put Pujols or Josh Hamilton, 2nd, no speed, and doesn't get on as much as Trout. For now, it's probably the best spot team wise with what the Angels have.

If they had another good speed/ OB guy, Trout would probably be 3rd or 4th, putting Pujols 4th or 5th and or Josh Hamilton 4th or 5th. Maybe this is a problem they need to remedy by next season.

Hamilton usually bats cleanup, 10 HR's 44 RBI's in 80 games, but was scratched due to a sore shoulder and he's been scratched again today.

Trout with his 32nd HR and 2 more RBI's, officially becoming only the 9th MLB player ever to drive in 100 runs from the number 2 spot in the batting order. He also scored 2 runs, edging ever closer to scoring 100 runs!

32 HR's/ 102 RBI/ 96 runs/298 TB's/ 36 doubles!

At only 22 years of age, Mike Trout continues to set records!

Trout goes 2-5 with a Triple and an RBI. This puts him in the RBI lead by 2, and he remains tied for first in the AL in runs with 99.

Mike Trout has joined yet another elite club! He has become only the 6th MLB player to notch triple digit runs 3 times before the age of 23! Trout scored his 101st run last evening. He scored 109 last season and 129 the year before.

He leads the league in runs, (101), RBI's, (103), and total bases, (306).

With 17 games remaining, Trout has established career highs in HR's, (32) and RBI's, (103).

Congrats to Mike Trout, a truly tremendous beginning to his career.

Mike Trout's increase in power and drop in speed is a common phenomenon that I have observed over the years watching baseball. Every once in a while a guy will come along that plays the speed game at the start of his career but then finds out he can hit the long ball and over the years morphs from a speedy lead-off hitter into a clean-up power hitter. Trout seems to have accelerated the pace.

It used to be understood that home run hitters drove Cadillac's and high batting average guys drove Chevy's, so that was the reason players drifted from speed to power. There have been some truly amazing "morphs" in this regard in MLB history. I once thought it was a black thing but I'm sure it's more of a green (as in money) thing.

Some recent players who followed this path were Curtis Granderson, a speedy base stealing lead off guy who developed power and switched to a middle of the order HR hitter. Shawn Kemp was another, Brett Gardner appears headed in that direction. Perhaps the prototypical player of this type was Barry Bonds who stole more bases then hit home runs the first 7 years of his career.

I don't mean to include guys like Mantle and Mays, fast guys that were power hitters from the get go, but lead off guys that ended up as clean up hitters. The only guy I can think of that stuck with the speed game even though he had power was Rickey Henderson.

I'm sure there have been others.

You're gonna have to add to those totals KS5000! Trout is 2 for 2, 2 HR's tonight, already, just in the 3rd inning!

Trout continues to AMAZE!

Trout with HR number 36 last night!

Although Trout seemed to slump after the All-Star game, he leads the league in RBI, (111), Runs,(115) Total Bases, (338), and WAR, (7.96), and unfortunately strikeouts, (182).

I hope he works on cutting down on the strike outs next season. Could mean the difference in being a HOF and top 5 player or possibly the best player of all time!

I don't think a lot of strike outs is a big deal. Although a guy like him should put the ball in play as much as possible with his speed. Here's a list of the top 20 All time strikeout leaders. 5 Hall of Famers and some more who will be in the HOF and a lot that would be in the Hall if not for steroids. I can't believe Jim Thome and Adam Dunn are 2 and 3. Dunn should play another year to get the all time lead.

1.Reggie Jackson+ (21)2597L
2.Jim Thome (22)2548L
3.Adam Dunn (14, 34)2376L

I guess I'm looking at it from a missed opportunity and stats perspective. If you average out what Trout could have stat wise had he maintain his .300 avg./HR/RBI, through his career 487 strike outs, he would have over 700 hits already instead of 572. I believe only Ty Cobb had over 700 hits by age 22.. He would already have 123 HR's instead of 98 and 384 RBI's instead of 307 as well as numerous other improvements on his stat line. I guess I'm wanting him to be better than the A Rod, Bonds and the like.

The truly great hitters rarely struck out. Guys like Cobb, Rose and Brett.

Career Strikeouts:

Mike Trout: 457 already! 3 years 152/yr.

Ty Cobb: 681/24 years or 28/yr.

George Brett: 908/21 years or 43/yr.

Pete Rose: 1143/24 years or 47/yr.

How much better could Mike Trout be if he could just cut his K's in half. If he doesn't cut it back some, he's on pace to strike over 3,000 times, if he plays 20 years!

Mike Trout becomes the first player in MLB history to lead the league in runs, 115 this season, in his first 3 full major league seasons!

Hopefully he'll win his first MVP in the coming days.

Mike Trout unanimous winner of the MVP!
Hopefully the first of many!

I think Trout's last 2 seasons were equally impressive and worthy of an MVP. However, those Angles teams were not in the playoffs and he faced stiff competition from Cabrera. Cabrera should be fading from his prime while Trout is entering his. For the next 8-10 years, Trout should be a threat to win the award every year. He's that good.
