Measureables?

Guys, where are these numbers that some high school football players have posted on rivals, scout, and or other profiles they have out there, coming from? I've seen some numbers put out there such as, 40 times, broad jump, height weight etc., that don't match up when you see them live. I saw one kid have a 4.6-4.7: 40 posted and ran a 5.14/5.21 at a D-1 top prospect camp I attended! I know kids can have a bad day, but this isn't close is it? Another kid was listed at 6'2 196, butwhen measured at a recent camp he was 5'11, maybe?,176lbs. I could go and on, but I think you get the point. One parent at a camp I attended looked me straight in the face and said his son runs a 4.60, when he was tested he ran a 5.04, 40! Also, some of the talent being posted here, show numbers thatI can't find to beverified!

Sorry, if I'm the last to know, but what's going on? Anyone?

This phenomenon is no different than a fisherman telling tales of his catch (arms spread wide), when the actual fish was 1 foot long. For purposes of the stat sheet, many folks are, as you note, highly disengenuous. Since I only try to look at verified combine or other official measurements, I don't pay much attention.

Where is does bother me is that many of the recruiting services will run with the fraudulent numbers if the player happens to have the right skin tone.

CS,

FootballDad is correct in that most (if not all) oflisted times are bullcrap. despite knowing this, the negrophile recruiting services still often use them. many of the "official" timesare either self-reported by the athlete or by the athlete's coach who has hand-timed his kid. an even worsepracticeis the "eyeballing" of a player by the negrophile scouting "expert," who puts a time down based on nothing more than just a hunch of how fast the kid is. this happens all the time, and you've likely seen it like i have.

of course, the "accuracy" of such "reliable" sources is dubious, at best. but that doesn't stop the recruiting services from using them, nor does it stop thedrunken White fans who subscribe to them or homoerotically boast on message boards about how much "speed" "their" team is signing to a "scholar"ship.

basically, the only way to get a "legitimate" (but still artificially fast) set of times is to use the numbers that a kid posts at an official combine setting. at least then all the kids are measured on a (more) level field.

Yeah most of the times are crap. Nike has combines all over the place and its more accurate. I think they had one in 15 different locations this year, the lowest turnout I think was 350 in Hawaii. Places like in Ohio had 700+. Only TWO 4.3 runners. A 4.45 was in the top 10. It makes it really hard to argue with dwfs about speed because they are convinced they are stocked with players that run 4.3's and 4.4s. I keep seeing the argument that Taylor Martinez can't possibly be faster than Denard Robinson because Denard ran a 4.32 and Taylor can't run that fast. Denard ran a 4.53 at the Nike combine, Martinez is listed a 4.5 even for the combine, I couldve sworn I remember reading he ran a 4.45 at a combine. Granted they both can get those times down out of college with practice but Denard should have better technique because he runs track. Scout has Denard listed as being a 4.4 guy. As for Martinez.....Scout has him listed as 4.5.

Snow, as for the Taylor Martinez vs. Denard Robinson debate I will say that from watching film that those two (along with Eric Weddle, Danny Woodhead, Sam McGuffie and Chris Johnson) seem to accelerate to top speed within a few steps (sometimes it appears within two steps they have hit about their top speed which doesn't seem possible). Eric Weddle would have the slowest top end speed out of these guys, but all have a lightning burst. Taylor Martinez is right in the middle of the pack for top end speed with Woodhead, Robinson, McGuffie just behind Chris Johnson.

Someone tell me how Denard Robinson is ranked the 5th best WR (when he's a FBS QB) for 2013 and McGuffie is ranked 28th at WR!? What a joke. McGuffie should already be in the top 12-15 RBs! and I'm fairly certain he'll move up in my rankings this season.

This is why I'm careful when I here about high school kids running 4.2-4.3s. Haven't been to one combine or camp yet and seen a 4.3. the lowest I've seen is a 4.43! Most of the faster kids are in the 4.5 range. Typically there's only 2 or 3college players that run 4.3 or better at the NFLcombinesright?

And correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there some type of article out there about the 4.3, 40yd. dash myth?
