He definitely won't be able to see Fahnbulleh, because Fahnbulleh is always at the back of the pack coming off the curve.
He just has to run like hell and hope Fahnbulleh doesn't catch him at the end of the race.

Boling has to concentrate on catching and passing sprinters in lanes 7 and 8 as fast as he can and put as much distance as he can between he and Faunbulleh.

The prelims were tonight and Boling jogged a 10.36 to make the finals. Smart to conserve his energy. Tommorow Boling has to run the 4 x 100 Relay Finals, the 100 meters,

As for Boling being in lane 6 and Fahnbulleh in 5 Boling will know where Fahnbulleh is as your peripheral vision is there as well as his ears will hear him at the end of the bend. Either way if the race unfolds the way it should and the weather cooperates it should be a very fast race.

My gut instinct is as follows: If Boling goes balls to the wall from the start to the finish Fahnbulleh will have a very difficult time catching Boling before the finish> If Boling sprints relaxed in the final 60/70m he wins, if he panics then Fahnbulleh catches him. If the weather is good; light to no wind, hot but not humid times should be in the 19.75-19.80 range.

Yeah I think he jogged a little slower than even he would of liked. He had to conserve his energy but he overdid it. It's very rare to win a championship out of lane 8. Boling
is at a huge disadvantage but he only has himself to blame for it. It would have been better to be in lanes 3, 4, 5 or 6 as we know those are the best lanes for fast times and to
also be aware of who is around you that you either need to catch or hold off in the race. It also helps to react to the starting gun better. Let's hope he can still shock everyone
and still win.

That also puts him at a disadvantage for the 200m finals, which are later that day.
He would have run all-out in the 100m final and then have to do the same a few hours later in the 200m.
Meanwhile, Fahnbulleh didn't qualify for the 100m final, so he saves all his energy for the 200m final.

Matthew Boling won the 200 meter finals running a 20.01 +0.3! He beat Fahnbulleh despite running alot more events. Excellent to see. The times were not
as fast as most expected but he made up for his average performance in the 100. I'm very happy for Boling. He will now run in the 4 x 400 relay to end the day.

Boling loss in the 100 was due to a horrible start. I blame it on his reaction to the gun and being in lane 8. Again it was his fault though as he didn't run good in the prelims. He
will learn from this experience. Boling wasn't the double champion like I had hoped but he still won his first major championship outdoors in college. I would love to see him
follow up his national championship indoors in 2021 over 200 meters with an outdoor national championship to go with it. Outdoors is where the money & fame is. Boling will
have to beat Fahnbulleh again and I think he can.

To be honest Boling didn't run the times I had expected of him today. Many thought sub 10 and sub 20 times for sure would be necessary to win the titles. It turned out with
the weather and fatigue it wasn't needed. For Boling to still win a title running a time of 20.01 is still epic! We should be yelling and screaming as he is still making history.

The next two championships are even bigger and for all the marbles. The NCAA National Championships and then the World Championship Trials. Here's to Matthew Boling
proving he belongs at both but winning the titles and also qualifying for the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon this summer!

I would say the track was not overly fast judging by the mens/womens 100/200m races. Still nice to see Boling win!

Yes, all the times show the conditions were not that great. The big thing is the win over Fanbulleh. That is a huge confidence booster. Once the conditions are right, he will obliterate his PB in the 200.

For anyone here or around the world don't doubt this kid. After about 2 months of track races worldwide, Boling is the 8th fastest 100 meter sprinter and the 5th fastest 200 meter
sprinter in the world at the moment. His legendary career is just getting started. Matthew will turn 22 in June but the best is yet to come. We are going to see him do things that
most people would not have thought possible just a decade ago. Boling will inspire others as his star status continues to grow. We have to be patient as greatness is achieved slowly
through hard work and dedication to become the best at what you do. He is hungry and the world will know his name before too long!

You want to see a humble kid. All the talent in the world yet he handles himself like a gentleman. Boling is a great role model for the kids and teenagers to strive to be like
even if it's just how they treat people. What a champion he is. Congrats Matthew Boling and here is to many, many more titles in the near future.

We are less than a week away from the 2022 NCAA National Championships of Track and Field. It's gonna be the best against the best. So many guys and girls that are capable of winning! Here
is one matchup to watch as we have been watching these two sprinters go at it all season long with both winning some and losing some races. I expect Boling to be on top of his game but will
it be enough? Time will tell. I see some unbelievable times like you would see in an olympics. It's gonna be must see tv!

I remember reading once that the Stanford track coach believed that there was a white Carl Lewis and that we just needed to find him. This young Texan may be that find.

The times will of course depend on weather, track conditions and hopefully Boling has no niggles to slow him down. If the weather is heavy in Eugene do not expect fast times. I truly hope it is dry, hot and just a slight tailwind to let these two battle it out and run sub 19.90 as long as they get through the rounds healthy. In the 100m Micah Williams from the Ducks is going to be very hard to beat...he is a legit 100m sprinter.

Boling will be tested early, as he is in the same heat as Fahnbulleh in both the 100m and the 200m. if i read the start lists correctly, their 100m heat is easily the fastest grouping of the day.

Firstly ...boling has really benefited from the new coaching ticket in Georgia ...secondly boling has to just qualify for a final and then hold his nerve ...at the moment boling is the no.1 college sprinter ...once final time comes he has to hold nerve ....which has been working ..obviously working a lot on staying relaxed while working hard ....for boling it’s really between the ears ...

Yes sir my good friend. Excellent analysis. I agree that he is very intelligent and sometimes he can overthink things. Relaxation is the key to speed. Let the speed flow through you. Boling has made huge strides this year going sub 10 and sub 20 all while
being a 21 year old college kid. He turns 22 on June 20th so people are way too hard on him for being so young. He is in a very rare elite club of sub 10 & sub 20 wind legal sprinters and yet he is just scratching the surface of his amazing potential. This
kid is a prodigy! I knew it the first time I saw him sprint just like with Lemaitre. I've only had 2 avatars here on this board. Lemaitre and Boling. I have a keen eye for elite sprint talent. We haven't seen anything yet! Give this kid 4 to 6 years!

My prediction is for him to go sub 10 and sub 20 again wind legal. I will keep my times predictions private for now but I do honestly believe he will easily break both of his personal bests at the 2022 NCAA National Champisonps of Track & Field!

WL, GG, he will have to surpass his PB's in order to hit top three finishes in both the 100/200m, I truly hope he wins the 200m but he is in tough in the 100m. Like I've mentioned previously the weather/humidity will play a huge part, if conditions are good Hayward track is fast fast fast. If the weather is overcast and humid it will be like sprinting in pea soup producing slower times. Either way I am rooting hard for this kid to win and set PB's.
