i just though i'd start a topic on this great player.

also, here's a bit of trivia: Stephen Cooper got a 4 game suspension, so Matt will likely play with Derek M. Smith for the duration of it. it's been quite some time when a 3-4 team had 2 white ILBs!

PS Brandon Siler is also competing for Cooper's spot, but i am hoping Chargers will go for the experienced, sure tackler in Smith.

Chargers released ILB Matt Wilhelm.

The Chargers have been unhappy with Wilhelm's work against the run, and he was benched for Tim Dobbins and Carlos Polk while dealing with a calf injury at mid-season last year. Dobbins will be the favorite to step in opposite Stephen Cooper, with Kevin Burnett likely handling nickel duties. The Patriots, hurting for depth inside, may be interested in Wilhelm

Cool, maybe the Pats can add some much needed white defensive help. Only LB Bruschi and DT Mike Wright remain with Vrabel's departure.
