Matt Barkley had a great college career at Mater Dei High School and USC. He's now playing in the NFL for the Arizona Cardinals.

Barkley has a great opportunity behind Palmer. Right now Palmer is playing at a high level and there is no telling how much longer he will play in the league. It's best for Barkley to sit and learn and possibly take over.

I thought Matt Barkley was the best quarterback coming out in the 2013 draft.

I thought he would be drafted at the top of the second round. I was surprised he lasted until the fourth round.

Maybe I shouldn't have been, after all, he's a white pocket passer and the mainstream media keeps insinuating that white pocket passers can't play.

Much was made about Barkley's arm strength but it didn't seem that bad to me from the video I saw of him at USC. The mainstream media made it sound as if he could barely throw the football 5 yards.

The Cardinals traded for Barkley this year. I think this was a smart move on their part. It gives them excellent depth at the quarterback position. Depth was a big problem for them last year.

I think with the right team and the right situation Barkley could start for an NFL team.

EP, you are right about the Cardinals making a smart move trading for him. I think he is in the right situation in Arizona. He can sit and learn behind Palmer another ex trojan.

Arizona cut Matt Barkley. I don't think it was a good move for them. He would have been good depth behind Carson Palmer if he got injured.

I wonder if the Cardinals will sign an incompetent black quarterback for the third QB spot or go with two quarterbacks. If they sign a black quarterback I think it proves the league is pushing teams to have black quarterbacks even if they're not as good as available white quarterbacks. I remember how Tim Tebow played well in the preseason but was cut in favor of a no name, no talent black quarterback.

The Vikings would have been better off signing Barkley rather than paying what they did for Bradford.

Barkley's fall from consensus number one overall pick in the draft before his senior season to not even being worthy of NFL journeyman status is stunning, and completely unjustifiable based on his very limited opportunities. Even more disturbing (yet predictable) is that he has no advocates in the media taking up his cause. He must wake up each day wondering what the hell happened.

Barkley's last game against Denver:

20/29 262yards 2TD 0INT QBR 120.2

There's something going on here other than performance, to anyone with an object eye.

Sam Bradford with his 41.8 QBR rating last year and he's worthy of a 1st Round pick in a trade. Black QBs still in the league when they should've been flipping burgers a long time ago, yet Barkley, who's always produced, is left out in the cold.

Logic does not exist with the caste system. I honestly saw Barkley get better each preseason game this year and his arm strength was much stronger than when he came into the league - it was evident. I really do not see how a player with his talent and pedigree ends up on a practice squad just clinging to his NFL life.

So now Carson Palmer is injured and the Cardinals must rely on Drew Stanton, a backup who hasn't played particularly well during his career.
The Cardinals should have kept Barkley. They made a mistake in cutting him.

Not only would he have given the Cardinals depth, he probably would have been an upgrade over Drew Stanton as a backup.

The Cardinals are falling apart this year. Supposed genius GM Steve Keim has made some mistakes with the QB position. Drafting Logan Thomas was an insanely stupid decision and keeping Drew Stanton as the backup with no young QB (especially in this year's QB deep draft - Connor Cook was made for that offense) will probably come back to haunt them. Barkley showed positive signs of development during the preseason. I would not mind to see him start over Hoyer for the Bears since he has been elevated to the regular roster.

With Jay Cutler and Brian Hoyer injured Matt Barkley may get some extended playing time the rest of the season. This is his opportunity to show what he can do.

It would have been interesting to see how Barkley would have developed had he been given an opportunity to start over the past few years.

The Bears may have found themselves a gem.

Barkley played well again in the loss vs. Green Bay. If anything he has positioned himself for a decent deal in free agency if the Bears let him walk. I have to give him alot of credit for bouncing from team to team and continuing to work at his craft. I think others in his position would of flamed out of the league by now. He is one of the bright spots of this season. A few actual positive articles are popping up about him now after being a punch line for most of his time in the league. Way to prove them wrong Matt!

Barkley's last performance was not a memorable one but in a lost season for the Bears the mistakes he has made this year and experience gained should help his career. I appreciate that he has had a gunslinger mentality this season when watching him play. So many QBs especially black quarterbacks like the Gremlin, Toucan and Idler arm are check down specialists opting for safe easy passes. The Bears dismal WR corp and their refusal to play Braverman also have played a role in some of Barkley's mistakes.

Receivers are actively costing them games and Braverman cant even get a look in, Caste whores will never mention this, he'll just be "discovered" fi he ever gets a shot and plays well, or just disappear and no one will ask any questions.

Barkley threw a lot of ints(some not his fault) , but I hope he convinced the Bears he is willing to drive the ball down the field rather than just check down. Hopefully he gets a shot at the job at camp.

Barkley signed with the 49ers.

He played in some games last year with the Bears. He did some good things but also made some mistakes.

Barkley looks like the type of player that could develop into a decent starter if he was given steady playing time. Steady playing time would give him an opportunity to eliminate the mistakes in his game.

Barkley had the same problem last year that Glennon has had this year - the Bears black receivers dropping passes. He would have looked a lot better had this not happened.

Barkley is currently is a free agent. I think he's at least good enough to be a backup somewhere.
