I'm surprised he managed to get up four separate times. I would have stayed down because he knew he was just going to take more punishment. Huck was too quick and strong for Godfrey.

Huck puts his whole body into his punches.  He looked great, and so did Helenius.  Next up Adamek and then it will be three good wins for the good guys today!

Huck-Lebedev Final Presser

huck-lebedev1.jpg

WBO Cruiserweight Champion Marco "Captain"Â￾ Huck had a special present for his opponent at today's final press conference in Berlin. The 26-year-old gave mandatory challenger Denis Lebedev a plastic belt. "It's Christmas time and I don't want you to leave Berlin empty-handed,"Â￾ Huck said to the stunned Russian. "This belt is for you. The real belt will stay here. You will never get it."Â￾

On December 18th, the two hard-hitting cruiserweights will lock horns at Berlin's Max-Schmeling-Halle. While Huck (30-1, 23 KOs) has already made four successful title defenses, Lebedev rides a perfect record of 21-0 with 16 KOs into the biggest fight of his life. "I am no big talker, I will show my power inside the ring,"Â￾ was all he said on the podium today. His coach Valery Belov added: "We are not scared of anybody or anything and we are prepared for a big challenge on Saturday night."Â￾

Hall-of-Fame-Promoter Wilfried Sauerland expects fireworks from both men come Saturday. "We know that Lebedev is a very strong challenger,"Â￾ he said. "But Marco has progressed very well. Normally I get nervous one day before a fight, but I am already nervous now. It will be a great fight and I am sure Marco will leave the ring as the winner."Â￾

Coach Ulli Wegner is also confident. "After Arthur Abraham's big loss in Helsinki, Marco needs to win one for the team now,"Â￾ he said. "He has worked well in practice. It was not easy to keep his temper under control but that is fine â€" if I only had boxers who were easy to guide I would look ten years younger. Marco has worked out very well and if he sticks to the game plan on Saturday night he will win and finish this year in style."Â￾

On the undercard, Yoan Pablo Hernandez will face Ali Ismailov in a WBA Cruiserweight Eliminator, while Alexander Povetkin will take on Nicolai Firtha. Kubrat Pulev comes face-to-face with Paolo Vidoz, and Francesco Pianeta takes on Mike Middleton.

I'm rooting for my man Marco Huck but Lebedev has a good chance of winning.
I have a little cannibalism in me when it comes to white fighters,
if a white fighter has lost to a non-white [Huck lost to Cunningham] i will support the white fighter who hasnt been beaten by a negro or nonwhite, Huck has been a great champion, but Lebedev has not lost to a nonwhite, so i will support him over Huck.....

I agree. Even more importantly Lebedev hasn't been beaten by anyone. Hopefully he is a better boxer than Huck and beats him and Cunningham.

I'm rooting for Hopkins as it will enhance Joe Calzaghe's legacy if he wins plus it means Pascal isn't that good if he can't beat a near 46 year old Hopkins.

I'd like to see Marco win as well. He's the most active World Champion in Boxing today plus he's younger than Lebedev at 26. Huck would beat Cunningham in a rematch. He didn't have enough experience to fight a solid vet like USS. Still, he was winning the first half of the fight. He didn't pace himself and was stopped by fatigue moreso than by Cunningham.

Beating an inexperienced Huck is the main reason DWFs rate Cunningham as the best Cruiserweight in the world

The winner of Huck-Lebedev deserves to be recognized as the #1 Cruiserweight

The Cunningham-Huck fight was very close. Huck fought pretty well the entire fight. If Huck loses I won't be upset but I'd prefer he win.

I agree. The winner of this fight is the best cruiserweight.

But hopefully Cunningham will face the winner later this year. I think he'll defeat Enad Licina in their upcoming fight, but I think the current version of Huck would KO Cunningham, as would Lebedev and Frenkel.

Glad to see Pianetta back. He really has the youth, size and ability to be the heir to Klitschko.

I just joined the Huck-Lebedev match in the 6th round but it seems like Lebedev is unloading on Huck.

I scored it 115-113 for Denis Lebedev, but Marco Huck won by split decision to retain his WBO cruiserweight title.
