I didn't see a thread on him so on the heels of all the Bryce Harper talk I wanted to make mention of possibly a star in the making whose kind of been under the radar.

Madison came up with the Giants 3 years ago for a short stint at 19 years old. Then the next season went 7-6 and became the fourth youngest pitcher to start and win a World Series game, helping the Giants to win The World Series!

Last year he went 13-13 with little or no run support in most of his games. He now stands at 20-19. This might not sound all that impressive, but he's still 22 years old and I believe poised to become a great pitcher, if he can get more support.

He's big 6'5; 235lbs., left handed, and has gained more experience than most his age. I hope all on CF will start looking for him as MLB begins a new season.

Bumgarner agrees to a 6 year contract with San Francisco through 2017!

Only 22 years old, Bumgarner at 21 years and 91 days, became the fourth youngest pitcher to win a World Series game!

He is 21-20 for his career and 1-1 this season, taking a no-hitter into the 7th inning in his first win of the season. He will start tonight vs. Philadelphia.

Bumgarner having a good night so far against Cincinnatti, for anyone who hasn't heard of him.

Going for career win no. 30 at 22 years old. He is 9-4 on the year so far! He already has a World Series Ring and is the fourth youngest pitcher to ever win a World Series game!

Bumgarner pitches a complete game 5 hitter against Washington tonight, avenging an earlier beating he took by the Nationals.

Bumgarner, 23 years old, is now 13-7 on the year. With any luck could easily be 15-5 or 16-4, has lowered his NL leading HOME ERA to 1.85 and 2.97 ERA overall. He has 33 career wins in just his second full year. He also has 150 strikeouts.

Chris Sale, Chicago White Sox, another great young pitcher (23 years old), is having a phenominal year also, is 14-3 (18 career wins), with a 2.60 ERA and 132 strikeouts in his first full year.

Congratulations to the very overlooked and underrated Bumgarner for making the All-Star Team! He's having another steady year at 9-5 for the San Francisco Giants. Hopefully he stays on track for what could be a Hall of Fame career! Bumgarner has 2 World Series rings and has already won 45 games at 23 years of age.

Probably the most underrated and unknown pitcher in MLB, Madison Bumgarner has had tough couple of games since the All-Star break. Despite only giving up 1 run with 13 k's in 2 games and 15 innings of work, the Giants have only given him 1 run and has taken 1 loss and no victories. He now stands at 10-6/2.76 ERA for the season!

I'm no Giants fan, but this is a great talent at only 23 years old and deserves a little more run support.

Bumgarner denied win 50 at 23 years old!

It seems that Madison Bumgarner will not be allowed to try for his 50th career win this season, a mark that would put him ahead of some elite company!

Bumgarner was to start this evening against the Dodgers, but Bochy has decided to apparently shut Bumgarner down for the remainder of the season, electing to start Barry Zito instead!

Bumgarner is 13-9 on the season with a 2.77 ERA and 199 K's in 201 IP. He could have easily been 18-5 or better with more run support during his starts. He was an All-Star selection this year also.

For his career Bumgarner is 49-39, 3.08 ERA and 677 K's. If he stays healthy, he would be an outside shot at becoming a 300 game winner.

Some current and former pitchers and when they got win number 50:

Clayton Kershaw win 50 at 24, Detroit's Porcello win 48 at 23, Matt Cain win 50 at 25. Zach Greinke win 50 at 25, Justin Verlander win 50 at 26, Lincecum at 26. Max Sherzer win 50 at age 27.

Only current pitchers C.C. Sabathia and Felix Hernandez reached 50 wins before Bumgarner! (Current pitchers only, to the best of my knowledge)

300 game winners Tom Glavine win 50 at age 25, Roger Clemens win 50 at age 24, and Randy Johnson did not get win number 50 until the ripe old age of 28!

Bumgarner another great young pitcher to be aware of!

Two time World Series winner and NL All-Star Madison Bumgarner, San Francisco, only 24 years old, got his 51st win last night the unconventional way. Bumgarner went 1 for 1 with a GRAND SLAM and sac. fly and 5 RBI's!

As stated above in a previous post, if Bumgarner stays healthy, he could make a bid for 300 wins!

In a big time pitching matchup tonight, San Francisco's Madison Bumgarner, 7-3, beats St. Louis's Adam Wainwright, 8-3!

Bumgarner pitched 7 shutout innings and recorded 10 K's!

Bumgarner is now at win number 56 at age 24! Way early, but he's ahead of the likes of Clemens, Glavine, and Randy Johnson!

Bumgarner got win number 9 on the season last night on a 2 hit performance against the D-Backs. Bumgarner, 9-4, gave up an infield single in the second and a hit in the ninth, was then pulled after 112 pitches.

Bumgarner is 3rd in the NL in wins (9), and K's (111), and 10th in ERA, 2.63. He should make the All-Star NL team for a second year in a row.

He could easily be 11-4 this year, however, the Giants have blown games as Bumgarner exited with the lead in 2 games.

His 9th win of the season was number 58 for is career at 24 years old! Also, Bumgarner has 2 WS rings!

Yes, thank you PamelaOC. Nice to see Bumgarner have a nice game after losing 3 in a row. He's now 10-7 on the year., as you said .275 BA. and 2 grand slams.

How many pitchers have had 2 grand slams in one season? Got to be some kind of record!

He made the All-Star game too, but gave up his spot somehow and now Tim Hudson is replacing him. Anyone understand what happened here?

The last pitcher to hit 2 grand slams in one season was Braves pitcher Tony Cloninger who did it in 1966. Ironically, both Bumgarner and Cloninger were both born in North Carolina.

Bumgarner and Buster Posey became the first pitcher/catcher duo in MLB history to hit grand slams in the same game!

Bumgarner leads all MLB pitchers in BA., HR's, RBI's, and runs scored.

Pitchers who started on Sunday aren't pitching in the All-Star Game because it's considered too short of a rest period. Even though most guys will probably only be pitching one inning of the All-Star Game.

Bumgarner goes 8 shutout innings and no walks to get his 12th win of the year and number 61 of his young career. He has won 3 in a row over an 11 day span. I would like to see him win the Cy Young this year for the league leading Giants.

He also went 1 for 3 and is hitting .261 with 3 HR's/ 2 Grand slams/ 12 RBI.

This guy has been under the radar for a while, however, I think people are starting to take notice.

Bumgarner now 13-8 and 153 K's on the year, also went 1-2 and 2 runs scored, hitting .265!

After a couple of no decisions and 1 loss during a 3 week stretch, Bumgarner finally gets win number 14!
He is 14-9 with 179 SO's and continues to be among the league leaders despite not getting a win for almost 3 weeks!

Bumgarner continues to hit well, going 1 for 3 with an RBI. He's batting .273 for the season and 2 Grandslams!

Madison Bumgarner took a perfect game into the 8th inning only to give up a double to Justin Morneau. Dang! Could have been Bumgarner's first no hitter. Bumgarner is now 15-9 with 192 K's, pitching a 1 hit CG.

In facing 28 batters, 80 of Bumgarners 103 pitches were strikes. He had 13 K's and after Morneau's double, Bumgarner struck out the last 4 hitters. Manager Bruce Bochy said Bumgarners 1 hitter was more impressive than some no hitters!

I believe we could be watching the Mike Trout of pitching in Bumgarner!

There seems to be only two things missing on Bumgarner's outstanding young resume, a no hitter and a Cy Young award. He was really close on one of them tonight and there's no doubt he's in the top 2 or 3 for the Cy Young Award this year.

I really hope he wins it.

Madison Bumgarner is etching his name in the record books!

The NLCS MVP has the MLB record for post seasons road scoreless streak of 32 2/3 innings, which was halted when he gave up a run last night.

He's second all time behind HOF Christy Mathewson in career opening WS shutout inning streak of 21, which again was froze due to him giving up a run last evening.

He is now 3-0 in WS starts with a 0.41 ERA!
