With training camps opening, I thought I'd start a running thread of white vs black battles for starting positions.
In Dallas, Doug Free vs Alex Barron for tackle.
In San Diego, Brandon Dombrozski (spelling) vs a sumo for tackle.
In San Francisco, will at least three whites start on O-line?
In Philadelphia Mcglynn vs two sumos for starting center (I fear we will lose this one).
In Jacksonville will Justin Smiley join Britton and Meester as third starting O-lineman.
 
It's pretty much guaranteed that several blubbery sumos will get injured, but it just depends if they have White back-ups, or how the o-line gets re-shuffled.
 
The losses at O-line due to obese, slow sumos is why the league has gotten darker the last few years. It kind of cancels out the slight gains we have made at QB and wide receiver the past few years.
 
Kelly Gregg v. Terrance Cody for Ravens NT. A true contrast with an undersized athletic former college wrestler against a mountain of overrated flab.
 
Matt Jones vs. the World
 
Jordy Nelson V James Jones for the Packers #3 spot is a big one. This will be Jordy's third year and it will be a crucial one that could make or break his career. He can either solidify himself in Green Bay as the number 2 guy after Donald Driver leaves or if he happens to get hurt or doesn't play to his ability he could become a perennial bounce around the league type of guy..
 
in Indianapolis:
Austin Collie and Anthony Gonzalez vs. Pierre Garcon
all the other White wideouts on the roster vs. the ingrained rule of too many White skill guys (and the requisite sub-50% White roster)

Driver has had great durability but he had both knees operated on after last season. His play also declined last year. Although he still had good stats he dropped many very catchable balls. Also, Rodgers could never seem to connect with him on downfield throws. If Jones takes over Driver's spot, as virtually everyone in the Caste media has already decided, Nelson most likely will never be a starter in the NFL even though he could still have decent seasons as the Packers' #3 WR. He deserves better than that.
 
Glad you agree Don!I have confidence in Jordy though and I think the Packer coaching staff is as about as fair as you can expect them to be considering we're talking about the NFL. With a little luck(no injuries please!!) Jordy's raw talent will win out.
 
Danny Amendola Vsevery other scrib reciever on the rams roster such as powerhouse players such as Brandon Mcrae,Brooks Foster,as reports have it they (the rams are only keeping 5 WR's with Donnie Avery,laurent robinson and 2010 3rd round pick Mardy Glyard "locks" to make the roster tha leave Danny in a 7 man fight for two roster spots and guess what the biggest hinderance to Danny i making the roster will be ??

but a lot of the rams DWF constantly wrote off Dane Looker andhe made the roster most years till last season
 
Avery and Robinson look like locks to start on the outside. Unfortunately the drafting of Gilyard looks like Amendola willgo back to being treatedlike ajunkyard dog by the leagueas Gilyard can return kicks and also play the slot.
 
Everything I have heard so far is that Amendola is ahead of Gilyard for the slot. That could change obviously during training camp. Gilyard isn't anything special so we will have to see what happens with that.
 
Another offensive line battle, Matt Slauson vs Vladimir Ducasse for starting guard with New York Jets.
 
It looks like Matt Slauson is going to start over sumo Ducasse to start. Of course, it's common for high black draft picks "to look lost" and still be far superior to their white teamates. Of course though, Ducasse is still the future, because Slauson is at the ripe old age of 24.

Slauson has played under line coach Bill Callahan for four seasons, and Ducasse has reportedly looked "a little lost in all that he is taking in right now." Even if Ducasse doesn't start from the gate, he's still the Jets' future at the position. Considering the Jets are confident in their ability to win now, it's not surprising the veteran Slauson has the early edge.

The two most ridiculous ones are that some sources say it's "running neck and neck" for Kevin Walter vs. Jacoby Jones for #2 WR and Toby Gerhart vs. "who the hell are you" Young for the #2 RB job. These cases will show clear indications if the NFL is running steady in it's anti-whiteness or if it will decline even further. This is a clear case of a suberb resume and respected player being possibly passed on the depth chart by a no name due to supposed "mediocrity", but of course that statement is false and part of the black quarterbacks lie.

Other examples will be if Decker starts at #2 WR over Eddie Royal/Gaffney etc. once healthy and how much they favour Demariyus Thomas over him "his first season" for playing time. Also if Greg Camarillo finds some time in the #3 slot role and in 4 WR sets- or if he fades completely away for Devone Bess. Also Jordan Shipley vs. Andre Caldwell for the #3 WR job. Also Danny Woodhead for a roster spot as either a 6th WR or 4th tailback- it's ridiculous. I agree with JC, Matt Jones vs. the world hoping he gets cut from Cincinnati. If we can go close to 50/50 on cases like these we know we are seeing a positive shift for sure.
 
Kevin Walter's situation reminds me of Drew Bennett's ridiculous free agent signing a few years ago. If you recall, Bennett was considered the top free agent WR on the market (probably the only time in modern history a white player has been in that position), and he inexplicably signed with the Rams, knowing he would not be a starter.

This time, Walter is a free agent drawing lots of interest from other teams. The Texans paid him a lot of money to stay with them- the question is WHY? Why would a team pay that kind of money to keep a player, when they aren't even sure he will remain a starter? And, of course, why would Walter stay with the Texans, if he knew Jones was being primed to compete with him? Maybe they lied to Walter and told him he was a guaranteed starter, who knows?

At any rate, the result is the same. Walter stays with the Texans, where he will will inevitably lose his starting spot (if not this season, then next), and at best be slid over to that precious slot position. Meanwhile, Walter could have been the #1 WR for the Ravens- instead Anquan Boldin will enjoy that honor.

Just like Gerhart, Jordy Nelson and so many others getting drafted consistently by the "wrong" teams, I am firmly convinced that many, if not all , of these draft selections and free agent moves are orchestrated in the exact manner that the league wants. Edited by: bigunreal

The Jets have been mostly black on the o-line for years now. The only bright spot is Nick Mangold who is possibly the best center in the league. I see they want to continue their ways by drafting Ducasse.

The Ravens were about the only team to show any interest insigning Walter,but notas their number one receiver. The Texans were the only team to give him any playing time back when he was considered nothing more than a career White Special Teams Demon, otherwise he would now be out of the league and forgotten.

Also, Jones was annointed the team's second starting receiver ever since he was a rookie by just about everyone other than Gary Kubiak. The media and DWFs were very embarrassed that the Texans were "reduced" to starting Walter and were very slow to give him any respect even after he produced time and again.

Jones isnow going into his fourth season. Not that he's better than Walter -- he's the typical black, has some speed and makes some nice plays but is wildly inconsistent and less than dedicated-- but this is a very rare care of a black receiver who has had to take a back seat to a White receiver. Given the Caste System, Kubiak and the Texans have been good to Walter; hopefully he'll have a good season and remain the starter again this year. I certainly don't see him going anywhere else and stepping in as one of the top two receivers.Edited by: Don Wassall
 
Here's another battle that looks like it's going our way. Amendola vs. Gilyard.

X-rays came back negative Sunday on Rams rookie WR Mardy Gilyard's banged-up wrist.

The wrist isn't broken, but Gilyard's probably got a pretty good sprain. At this point, he's on pace to enter the season as St. Louis' No. 4 or 5 receiver.

Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo revealed that rookie WR/PR Mardy Gilyard aggravated a wrist injury in Saturday's live scrimmage.

More will be known about the injury Sunday, but Gilyard isn't pushing Danny Amendola hard yet to be the team's primary slot receiver. In the same scrimmage, Amendola caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from A.J. Feeley.

with Danny Amendola its not so much the injury to gilyard its the fact that danny refuses to be beaten in camp and having a great camp by all accounts
