people were downplaying what kevin did because jason david was defending him and david is horrible, but walter is a good receiver, david is still horrible though, i guess because cornerbacks can only be one race which limits the talent pool, walter did a good job last night and they are making it seem like it was a nobody just burning jason david

No argument here about David. Nevertheless, on the touchdown coverage was fairly tight. Execution by Schaub and Walter was impeccable. It's encouraging that the wrath of the people you speak of are properly aimed at David. Last year someone posted an article where the nincompoop author blamed the Saints' white linebackers when Peyton Manning torched David for a thousand yards, I believe it was.

Edit: I just saw a replay of the TD catch by Walter and the coverage was not as close as I recollect when watching it live. Still, a nice throw and grab by the two Texans. Edited by: Quiet Speed

david has gotten the blame for the most part but some fans had something to say about shanle, "HE HAS TO GO" when i only recall him messing up once, and also when talking about vilma (who is going to start over Mark Simoneau) some weren't impressed but alot of people were praising him saying "well hes not the in your face type linebacker, he just knows how to diagnose plays, always knows where the ball is going to be" which is exactly what they used to say about simoneau, that he wasn't the most athletic linebacker but he knew how to diagnose plays and was always around the ball but now vilma comes in and does the same exact thing and hes an upgrade? luckily scott fujita gets a pass, almost nobody thinks he is bad.

also i noticed now that bullocks was out and Kevin Kaesviharn was in that david didn't get burnt as deep as he used to, bullocks would seem lost in coverage, took bad angles, overall just looked lost when he played, ill have to rewatch the game i dont know which plays kevin helped on but i noticed there was actually someone downfield to help when david screwed up, but kevin is starting right now because of bullocks being injured but he is surely outplaying him, im going to be pissed if bullocks gets to start over him once hes healthy

I didn't watch all of the game and haven't checked the stats, but Walter was once again the primary weapon of Matt Schaub tonight against the Cowboys. Owen Daniel was also thrown to a lot, and David Anderson alternated with Andre Davis as the primary slot guy. The Texans also started four whites on the o-line. All their tight ends are white.

Schaub was erratic early on but then the offense looked very good again. Walter is beginning to be compared more and more to Ed McCaffrey, and in this case the comparison may be accurate and is quite a compliment.

Yes, Kevin had a nice game with a game high 6 catches for 61 yards and a TD. He was held on at least one play as well. Owen Daniels had 4 catches for 35, while David Anderson had 2 for 18. Joel Dreessen had 1 for 7.

I respectfully disagree, walter is a better athlete and much stronger then Mccafery, a better comparison is A. Boldin from arizona, or a faster A. Toomer from the giants, just my 2 cents worth.

Jacoby Jones has been told to carry a football around with him in order to learn how to hold onto it. If David Anderson actually becomes the Texans' 3rd WR, the team would be breaking some major Caste System rules. Imagine a team having 2 whites out of 3 WRs on the field, not to mention a white TE? Something tells me that Jones will learn enough from carrying that football to edge Anderson out for the 3rd WR spot. I hope I'm wrong. Even with their all black defense, Houston would become a team to root for.

Walter may be stronger than Easy Ed, but a better athlete? i don't know... McCaffrey ran a 4.4 40 and was a terrific leaper. don't buy into all the propaganda that Ed was just a possession receiver.

both guys appear to be faster than a. boldin, who doesn't look fast to me at all.

Andre Davis will probably end up ahead of Anderson as the third or fourth receiver after Andre Johnson, Walter, and wherever the flashy-but-basically-terrible Jacoby Jones ends up. Anderson is a verygood slot receiver and I'm hoping that because the Texans defense is all-black, it will "compensate" to a degree if they keep and use Anderson.

I think Walter is going to have a big year, especially if Andre Johnson is injury prone again.Edited by: Don Wassall

I'm really hoping so Don I used my last pick in my fantasy draft on Walter. I'm telling all my friends in my league that Walter is a sleeper pick so here's hoping Kevin makes me look like a genius.

shocking piece from Rotoworld:

Kevin Walter (toe, probable) practiced fully on Friday.

He will start against the Jags. Walter looked terrific in the preseason and the Texans should look to get him the ball more if Andre Johnson continues to drop TD passes. Walter has sure hands and run-after-catch ability.

After his 8 for 76 with 2 TD performance I am hoping Walter can continue to improve. As a Giants fan, it annoys me that Walter was drafted by New York and never given a chance at all. He would be fun to watch on a weekly basis.

After Kevin Curtis went down with the injury I was fearful of not having a 1,000 yard white receiver. With Schaub's confidence in Walter I think he can reach that milestone this year. I also think Matt Jones and Anthony Gonzalez can reach the mark as well. Throw in Jason Witten of course and we could have drunk whites fans everywhere doing spit-takes of their Budweisers from disbelief by the end of the season.

I never tell the DWF's in my fantasy league about white sleepers. They believe that I am a contender and have won 2 out of last 4 Championships because of runningbacks. Let them believe that. It is because I use the services of the overlooked white Receivers in the league while they are scrambling to draft Affletes in the early rounds. I have no reason to draft any black receiver high and instead work on making the rest of my team more solid in the early rounds. I got Kevin Curtis and Wes Welker as 13th and 14th rounders last year. The Year before that I got Furrey as a 15th. This year I got Walter as a 14th and Gonzo as a 15th. Curtis is still available in my league because of Injury and I will most definitely give him a shot quicker than ayone else.

Very true point Bear Backer. I had Curtis and Welker on my team last year in fantasy football also along with Terrell Owens. My big mistake was taking Todd Heap over Jason Witten, mostly because I hate the Cowgirls being I'm a Giant fan.

I still finished second in the league always starting 3 WRs. I had Frank Gore and Maurice Jones Drew last year at RB (with no other depth at RB) along with Tom Brady at QB. I still can't beleive I got beat in the fantasy championship with my superb team, but I still got more than my money back, mostly due to white "sleepers" at WR. I paid in 200 dollars and got 650 back, when you count that I had 4 high point weeks all worth $50.

ToughJ,

I can understand what you're saying. Fantasy football can be very frustrating; I've managed to not win championships with some very powerful teams over the years. When I have won, it has usually been with forgettable, mediocre fill-ins that I picked up during the championship week. For instance, two years ago, I picked up Ron Dayne right before our fantasy playoffs. He went wild for me in the championship game, and led me to victory. A few years before that, I won the championship with last minute pickups Chris Fuamalatuola, Terry Allen and Trent Dilfer.

Many fantasy football players don't understand that the team with the most "stars" often doesn't win the championship, because the best teams often sit those players out during the last few weeks of the regular season, when most fantasy football championship games are played.

Kevin Walter has had at least 79 yards receiving each of the past three games andnow has apretty good chanceto reach 1,000 yards. He needs 333 yards in the next 5 games. He's also among the league leaders in TD receptions with 7.

I have been starting Kevin as one of my fantasy WRs for a few weeks now, and he has helped me out quite a bit. I'm still two games above .500 with more white regular starters than almostanyone in the league. I even have a chance to win my division! I just wish I could watch Kevin on TV more.

Because of Walter, Owen Daniels and David Anderson, more praise than ever is being lavished on Andre Johnson this season, but Walter has become an elite receiver.

Gary Kubiak on Walter:

"He's a special player. He plays hard in the running game. He seems to make big plays for our team all the time, very unselfish player. For us to get him for a seventh round draft choice a couple of years ago has been just a tremendous steal. I'm really looking forward to his future. I don't think he's scratched the surface. I think he's going to be a fine, fine player for a long time. He takes care of himself. The game is very important to him. People can count on him."

This is something I always notice when I watch a Houston game, I've never seen a WR help as much in the running game, blocking in the box side-by-side with the TE's, he need to be recognized just like hines ward for his blocking prowess.

Andre Johnson is the most overrated receiver this side of Chad Johnson. The guy has specialized in not scoring touchdowns throughout his career. For instance, this season he has scored only 4 times, despite leading the league (at least as of a few weeks ago) in red zone targets.

Walter, meanwhile, is everything that Johnson isn't- a true big play threat. It's hilarious to watch Texans' games- the white guy catches bombs and scores TDs (twice as many as Johnson), while the super hyped black WR is a "white" type of pure possession receiver, catching tons of short passes. If Walter was targeted as much as Johnson, his stats would be through the roof.

A few weeks ago, Houston played their first Monday Night Football game. The unwarranted praise for Johnson was unbelievable. At one point, one of the talking heads (think it was Tirico) actually said that he was the best player in the NFL! Meanwhile, Walter was barely mentioned during the broadcast.

Walter starts for me on one of my fantasy teams, and I've been pleasantly surprised by his great success. As I've noted before, I never thought Walter was nearly as talented as many of the white WRs who've either been shafted by the Caste System (Hass, Standeford, Ball, etc.) or not utilized enough (Curtis, Matt Jones). That being said, at this point, he appears to be the best of the bunch.
