Right you are, Kaptain. While whites have to constantly prove themeselves, black veterans like Isaac Bruce, Amani Toomer and Joe Horn have their starting status etched in stone, wherever they go. Consider this; the acknowledged top two free agent WRs were Drew Bennett and Kevin Curtis. Bennett made an incomprehensible decision to be the Rams #3 WR, and Curtis will probably have to settle for battling fellow white Mike Furrey for Detroit's #2 WR spot. On the other hand, Ashley Lelie will almost certainly start for the 49ers, and probably be their #1 WR. Donte Stallworth has already been made an offer by the Patriots, but wherever he goes, he will DEFINITELY be named a starter, no questions asked. 35 year old Joe Horn, coming off injuries and his least productive season, will be handed a starting job with Atlanta, no questions asked. None of these black guys would EVER be asked to take a #3 WR position. That would be disrespectful. Let's just hope that Stallworth doesn't actually sign with the Patriots, because if he does, Welker's already slight chances of starting go right out the window.

Curtis still has a shot to go to Minnesota or Philadelphia where he'd likely be either team's number 1 guy. Hopefully his new agetns will work something out, but Curtis wants to play for a West Coast Team which right now appears unlikely.

NFL.com's Adam Schefter reports no free agent has engaged in more bizarre behavior than St. Louis' free-agent WR Kevin Curtis. At a time when Curtis had lucrative offers from the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions, and considerable interest from the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, the wide receiver fired his agent, Tom Condon, one of the league's most notorious power brokers. Curtis is expected to hire the Tollner cousins, Bruce and Ryan, which he has not done yet, nor can he. Under the NFL Players Association guidelines, a player must wait five days from the time he fires an agent until the time he hires another. Using those rules, Curtis could not hire the Tollers before March 10. If and when he does, the Tollners will represent Curtis well. But in the interim, Curtis is conducting business as usual, spending today in New York, visiting with Giants officials, whom he was supposed to meet with the night of March 5 before he decided to return to his home in Utah. Those who know Curtis say he would prefer to play for a West Coast team. Problem is, the San Francisco 49ers and San Diego Chargers haven't shown any interest in him. And teams that have dealt with Curtis over the past week have thought his judgment and actions awkward at best. It's hard to believe Curtis is going to get more money by switching agents. But those who know him say money has not been the driving force behind these decisions. It is the unpredictable behavior of an indecisive wide receiver struggling to figure out where he wants to continue his football career.
This is discouraging news, to say the least. With his skin pigmentation disorder already working against him, all Curtis needs is anything else at all for teams to hold against him. Just read that the San Diego Chargers, who have no apparent interest in Kevin Curtis (who wants to play for them), are interested in fellow Ram WR Shaun McDonald. Hmm. They have no interest in the lightning fast, big play, productive #3 Ram WR, but ARE interested in the no-name, done-nothing #4 WR for the Rams. Other than the fact McDonald isn't half the receiver Curtis is, what other difference between the two could be swaying the odds in his favor?
I read that Kevin is stopping in Philadelphia today to talk with the Eagles. I seriously doubt Castemaster Andy Reid is going to choose Kevin to replace Donte Stallworth.
Also the Eagles signed Bethel Johnson to return kickoffs. Looks like we may never get to see Jeremy Bloom in action.

I hope he can work something out with the Giants. The Vikings and Titans have quarterback "issues" and so do the Eagles with McNabb being so injury prone. The Eagles would be the best choice after the Giants.

Curtis should get a clue from Bennett's departure. There's nothing for him in Tennessee.

After the Mike Hass episode, this might not be the most popular thought. The Saints are bringing in receivers after the release of Horn. After Colston, it's slim pickings. The idea of Brees throwing to Curtis does have some appeal to it. I guarantee Brees would throw the ball his way.
Brandon Stokley, who played college ball at Louisiana-Lafayette,visited the Saints last week, but nothing has come of it as yet. If Sean Paytonbecomes asfair to white wide receivers as he has been so far to white defensive players (relatively speaking of course in a league where every team is black dominated) the Saints would really become a team to cheer for, especially after the seemingly interminable, coal black Jim Haslet era.

What is Curtis doing? He seems to have lost out on the Detroit position, with the signing of Shaun McDonald. Maybe we'll be treated to McDonald beating out "overachieving" Mike Furrey for the #2 WR spot there. At this point, since the Chargers are inexplicably not interested in Curtis (they have a horrible WR corps, and Curtis wants to play there), Detroit is probably the only decent place left he could sign where he would almost certainly start, except for Tennessee, but few of us want to see him land there, even if he is the #1 target of Vince Young's errant throws. Minnesota would present the same problem, only with an even less talented passer in the ridiculous Taverious Jackson. I'd like to think Philadelphia would make him the #2 guy there, but that would be totally uncharacteristic of Caste disciple Andy Reid. It would be just another incomprehensible aspect of the Caste System if this very, very talented WR somehow manages not to end up starting for someone.

Curtis was the fastest player on the rams roster untill they signes Tye hill (who beat curtis in sprint practice) but to say Curtis isnt fast is like saying Vick isnt a dumb ass criminal

Too bad Curtis has the fracture, tear, hernia, hangover prone McDrab throwing the ball. Who's the back-up in Philly? No way McBrittle finishes even a third of the season without going DOWN. I don't care how good Doneover may appear some of the time, he can't close the deal, Philly needs a white quarterback.

Being an Eagles fan, let me comment:
The Eagles picked up Kevin Kolb as thier first pick during the draft - McNabb was very surprised by this, but I wasn't. He hasn't had a repeat of his 2004 season that every philly fan wants.
I will say that McNabb is the best of the "dual threat black QBs". He is more consistant, with better yardage. However, these QBs take a pounding and often get hurt. McNabb also has a bad habit of rocketing short passes and putting the team in a lot of 3rd and long situations because of this.
In short, I respect McNabb, but think we could do better QB wise with a more constistant pocket passer with some mobility.
Right now AJ feeley would be the backup QB. Feeley is ok, but dropping Garcia for him was a mistake, IMHO. Garcia had that leadership quality and ability to read defenses that McNabb lacks.
I'm looking forward to seeing Kevin Curtis play for the Eagles. Finally, a quality receiver for the Eagles!
