Did anybody hear Andrew Siciliano's reamarks about Kevin Curtis on FOX Sports Radio today? I just caught the end of it, and it was in the context of the latest McNabb controversary, but it was great nonetheless. He said' "Curtis is one of 5 or 6 fastest players in the NFL." He went on to make fun of commentators who you use phrases like "he is a possession receieve "...is always around the ball... runs ggreat routes ... has great hands... is like a coach on the field" etc. He said these were things were said of white players who are not supposed to be athletic. He was lampooning the announcers and even to a shot at Neal O'Donnell and his recent ignorant comments about Curtis. I wish I'd heard it all, but that little bit was outstanding.

yeah i was just reading an older issue of Sporting News (Dec 9) and i noticed pretty sizeable articles with big pic of Kevin saying that he is indeed one of the fastest NFL players right now... i was pretty impressed as SN is as caste as the rest of the media, if not more!

That is pretty incredible, considering the source. I hope he keeps getting good press.

Just as Curtis starts getting the recognition he deserves and it looks like he might have thousand yard season, he gets "disappeared" in Stokley-like fashion from the offense. Curtis has a totalof 41 yards receiving for the month of December. It takes more than just the return of Isaac Bruce to explain that kind of sudden anddramatic falloff in production.

Its simple why he hasn't received more looks. Its because of that rookie QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. When Bulger was playing he was looking Curtis's way. Though now you have some rookie f**k in their who only looks at his 1st(Holt) and 2nd(Bruce) receiving options. He never can get around to looking for Curtis and by then its too late becuase he's already been sacked. This guy just can't locate Curtis because he just isn't that good.

Jamie Martin played last week against San Fran and threw for 354 yards to 7 different receivers. Curtis had 2 catches for 15 yards. Martin's been around the NFL for 13 years. He hasn't played much but he knows the St. Louis offense as well as anyone.Let's hope the Rams jettison Bruce in the offseason for salary cap reasons, otherwise Curtis will remain a non-starter for years to come.

I'm pretty sure Curtis is an unrestricted free agent. I hope he leaves the Rams, who seem determined to start Isaac Bruce until he's using a walker to assist in his route-running, and signs for starter money with a teamthat willlet him be the star that he can be.

Think about what a Brady to Curtis connection would be like!

Unfortunately, Curtis will probably end up on a team like the Falcons or Titans.

From ESPN's "Whispers from Around the NFL":

We hear initial discussions are under way for new contracts for Rams QB Marc Bulger and WR Kevin Curtis. While Bulger is considered a slam dunk to re-up, perhaps sometime soon, Curtis remains a long shot to stick in St. Louis, as he is slated to become an unrestricted free agent in March.

Unless Isaac Bruce retires or is released, Curtis should get out of St. Louis and sign as a starter somewhere else. Please don't pull a Rob Konrad and re-sign with the team that is holding you back.

I agree Don. I also have to wonder how aware some white players are that they are getting the shaft. I know some must be aware of it - but is Curtis one of these guys who's blind to it? You know the kind of guy I'm writing about, the guy who outperforms a black and then marks it off to being lucky or the black being off his game, etc. Curtis has already 'lost too much' by being in St. Louis. Time to jump ship.

The dude scored a 48 on his Wonderlic, he's smart enough to get the heck outta there unless Bruce retires. I think Martz is gonna pursue him pretty hard.

He is visiting the New York Giants. I think that would be the best spot for him, and an excellent complement to Burress and Shockey. He is also the Vikings most coveted free agent.

It's a surprise to see the Giants suddenly entering the picture here. Would Curtis definitely be the starter opposite Burress? If so, this would probably be a good fit for him.

From all of the media reports that Ive read, he is being considered as a 3rd option for the Giants behind the ageing and "respected" veteran 32 year old Toomer. Complete BS. I think Kevin needs to move on to other teams. He'd basically be in the same predicament that he was in while in St Louis with a lesser skilled QB in my opinion.
Also there is some rule that if you fire your agent you cannot hire another one for 5 days for some reason. So the earliest he may sign with a team will be Saturday.

Here's Toomer's receiving yardage for the past three seasons -- 747, 684, and 360. He's comically slow and is one of those players who declined earlier than most, though he does have good size and hands. His career is not comparable to that of Isaac Bruce's and for the Giants to be considering signing Curtis as their third receiver behind Toomer at this stage ofToomer's careeris a joke, though of course the NFL is a joke. It looks like Curtis has been presented with no good signing options thus far.

I don't believe there is a current NFL team that Curtis can go to and be considered for a number one or number two receiver spot. With that being said, I do believe the Giants may be the best fit for him.

There have been rumors that Toomer is not rehabbing well and may considering retiring, even if he likely returns, there are posters on this site that would be an upgrade over the Giants current crop of receivers behind Burress and Toomer.

That current group includes Tim Carter, who was argubly the worst starting wide receiver in the NFL last year. There is also the highly touted Sinorice Moss, who caught a total of five passes for a whopping 25 yards last year. Of course Moss is one of those great athletes with great upside that will given unlimited time to prove himself as have many other high picks the Giants have wasted in recent years (e.g. William Joseph, Corey Webster, Ron Dayne). After that there isn't anyone worth a mention.

The Giants recently waived Chad Morton, so I believe Curtis has appeal as a kick returner to the Giants and would also have at least an outside chance of being a number two.Even as a number three he would see a lot of playing time as the Giants use three receiver sets about 70% of the time.

I'd love to see Kevin Curtis catching passes from my man Eli.Like nj816, I think hewould get some passes even if he's their #3 guy. I'd rather see him as a #2 or higher guy though. There's always hope!

The degree of blatant discrimination against white players even surprises me sometimes. I read also that Curtis would be competing against the immortal Tim Carter and Sinorice Moss for the #3 WR with the Giants. How can Amani Toomer be considered a starter at this point? Really, folks, if an injured, slowing oldster like Toomer can be considered a better #2 than one of the fastest, most productive WRs in the league, just because his skin is white, then there really is no hope for us. To make the situation in the league even more ridiculous, I read where Shaun McDonald may very well sign with the Lions, where he is expected to compete with Mike Furrey for the #2 job (although the fantasy site did acknowledge that Furrey would "probably win that battle"). Maybe I was too hard on Drew Bennett. Maybe it's impossible for a white WR to be a starting WR in this league, no matter how well they perform.

I don't think Corey Webster is a bust he actually played better than their big free agent signing of last year Sam Madison. Sinorice was hurt last year. I agree that Carter stinks (as do William Joseph and Dayne) he gets hurt all the time and drops passes..The Giants must prefer Track Stars to WR's. Why not just sign
Maurice Greene then

I'm a Giants fan and I hope the Giants sign Curtis.

Well you can NEVER break the rule of making a white reciever earn his spot on a new team with years of great performance off the bench and timely injuries or retirements of the "real" starters. No white reciever is allowed to waltz onto a team and become a instant starter - no matter how accomplish he is or how pathetic his competition. That's the way it is in today's NFL.
