Kade Clayton, ATH
Grace Community School
Tyler, TX
6'2", 180lbs.
40: 4.40 (laser timed, top rated 1.41s 10yd split)
Champion 100M and 300M hurdler

JR:
119carries, 1,511 yards (12.7avg), 26TD
26rec, 502 yards (19.31avg), 6TD
69 tackles, 5TFL, 2 forced fumbles
40yard KOR avg, 2TD

Combine MVP award, East Texas Sports Network

JR Highlights

Kade is a multi-position speedster from Texas. Although he compiled most of his production as a runningback, his height, speed, and running style suggest his natural position in college should be outside receiver (IMO). He also looks like a fantastic pursuer on defense. Kade already has an offer from SMU. Let's hope other schools take notice of this fine athlete.

Riddlewire, go to, or google Kade Clayton espn. Look at Kade's photo. Am I wrong, or does he not look of a mixed race? What do you think? This could explain why he has 2 D-1 offers!

I could be wrong, if I am, another good find.

no he looks like a White kid to me, that maybe had his nose broken, although it could be the lighting because it looks different in other pictures.

Sorry, the top picture, the one on espn, seemed inconclusive, but the bottom 2 pictures do show he looks white. I stand corrected.

Well he does have some kinky hair, so the jury's still out.

The first picture I saw of him made him look mixed, but it wasn't a closeup. In the other pictures I found, he appeared to just have tightly curled hair and bad skin (lots of acne). On average, he looks more white in pics than mixed.
However, I'm not at all forgiving when it comes to this sort of thing. For me, 5% black is 100% black. So I'll leave it up to the CF community. If the overall feeling is that he's mixed, I'll remove the post. If someone can find a clearer pic with better focus and lighting, that would go a long way towards answering the question.

Ive known plenty of White people with hair like that, and not every not every White person is going to have the classic "Roman nose". If you look at the 2nd picture, his hair isn't that tightly curled. The first picture, a relative of mine has similar hair. His dad can trace his ancestry back to the Mayflower, his mom still has family in England. In fact, everybody in their family had blue eyes (both sides dating really far back, both have family members into genealogy) so if he had wound up with eyes other than blue, then it would have been obvious the mom cheated. It looks like this kid doesn't have blue eyes, but I have no doubt he is White. And I have ruled out guys like Greg Salas and had doubts about Tyler Gaffney.

Mixed people tend to have that weird skin tone, even if they have "white skin", it just looks different, I can't really explain.

White for sure

I know for certain that Kade is white. He is a relative of mine. D1 offers are because he is a good athlete with a lot of heart for the game.

yeah but do you know what position schools have in mind for him? it is well documented that many talented White athletes at skill positions (usually rb, cb, wr) have trouble getting scholarships, no matter how good they are, and no matter the heart. I bet they already have the idea of putting him at safety with his size. Go look up Nile Knapp. Dude looked like Barry Sanders running the ball, led the state of Georgia in rushing, according to this website that he wrote on ( http://www.ncsasports.org/blog/2010/03/12/ncsa-success-story-nile-knapp-lindenwood-university/ ) over 300 schools reviewed his info, why did he have to settle for a scholarship at Lindenwood University? When he should have been going to Iowa, which is where he wanted to go but I believe he would have been a preferred walk on, like many talented White athletes.

Now there are a few that wind up getting interest like Sam McGuffie, to a lesser extend Rex Burkhead and Brandon Wegher. All were 4 star guys but I believe only McGuffie had more than a few major d1 schools interested, and his video was viral and it was hard to deny his talent when over a million people saw it. Although I think too many things were expected of him his first year and wound up setting him back, he transitioned nice to receiver at Rice.

Edit: looked him up, he doens't have that much interest from big schools, with SMU and Texas St with the most interest. Typical. I give credit to SMU though, they play White receivers and started Zach Line for 3 years straight and let him learn how to be an all purpose back when he was a powerback his first year. I see there is interest from mostly the usual White friendly teams (well as close as it gets), Boise St who has had many White receivers, Duke who just had Connor Vernon who graduated. Texas Tech who has had many White receivers over the years, although that was the Leach era, now Kliff Kingsbury is the head coach and he played with Welker and other White receivers so he should be fair.

Speaking of Welker Kind of dissapointed with him, news of him trying to get this tall "affletic" receiver (I think juco guy) to commit to Tech. The guy had interest in BYU and Welker kind of bashed BYU like "whens the last time they had a guy make an impact in the pros", and actually did the research and found Austin Collie. But that has nothing to do with talent. They have had many talented receivers.

Although it wouldn't be that dissapointing to see him put at safety, as long as he gets to start, there seems to be an abundance of White guys that are backup safeties in d1, usually special teams gunners. It wouldn't be as surprise to see him at wide receiver for SMU though, they just tend to put their White guys in the slot ala Cole Beasley.

Good post. I think that potential is the key. They may see a higher ceiling with other skill kids - most white kids at the skill position are a product of hard work in the opinions of many college coaches. That being said - still surprised this kid only holds three offers, could be a steal for someone. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/219602/highlights/35604398
