Although Don posted about Spieth's 1st tour win on the PGA forum, I would like to start a thread on this young man, he's earned it. Jordan Spieth won the U.S. Junior Amateur in 2009 and 2011, joining Tiger Woods as the only multiple winners. In 2010 Spieth became the 6th youngest player to make a PGA cut at age 16, I believe.

During his freshmen year at Texas, Spieth led his team to an NCAA championship, while making All-Big 12 Big 12 POY, and 1st team All-American.

This year Spieth won his first PGA tournament, The John Deere Classic, becoming the 4th youngest PGA tour winner ever at age 19 and the first teenager to win in 82 years.

Hopefully this is just the beginning of a great career for Mr. Spieth!

I wanted to give a shout out to Spieth. He rose 33 positions, the biggest jump by anyone today at the British Open to a tie for 23rd. Although he hasn't won this year he has 2 second place finishes, a second place at the Masters, 7 top 10's, 16 top 25's and has made 19 of 21 cuts this year.

He is just 20 years old and seems to get better every time he plays, thus his 33 position jump today! He won't win the British Open, but I hope he's in contention at the PGA.

I'm predicting an even bigger year for him next year.

Jordan Spieth wins the Valspar Championship to become the 4th player in the last 75 years to win twice before the age of 22! Would like to see him or Patrick Reed who finished T-2 with Sean O'Hair win The Masters.

I was only able to watch the last couple of holes of the final round and then the three-hole playoff, but just in that short time there was a lot of top-notch up and downs and clutch putts by Spieth, Reed and Sean O'Hair, who's back from the dead after falling to over 400 in the rankings after once being as high as 12th.

Spieth and Reed are separating themselves from the other "young guns" and look to be the best bets to challenge Rory McIlroy for number one in the next few years, along of course with established stars like Stenson, Kaymer, Rose, Watson and others. Spieth and Reed both have the mental toughness to go with their talent to be the best.

Didn't get to post on golf while the site was down, but the tour is off to a great (and Tiger-free) start in 2015. Can't wait for The Masters in a few weeks. The Arnold Palmer Invitational is next week.

SB Nation had a very positive article about the tournament and the golfers. The article even began talking about the "post" Tiger era.

Tiger has announced he is not playing the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which most likely means he is not playing the Masters.

21-year-old Jordan Spieth has now moved up from sixth to fourth in the world rankings after finishing second at the Texas Open. Very heady stuff for someone that young.

Late blooming Jimmy Walker won the Texas Open by four shots, his second win this season and fifth since the beginning of the 2014 season, both Tour bests. The event is held in Walker's hometown of San Antonio, which made the win that much sweeter. Walker now moves up to 10th in the world after his victory.

I think Walker's win was the first time in the last 10 tournaments that the Saturday leader went on to finish first. He was very steady down the stretch. Just what is expected from a pro. I'm sure the home court advantage helped. I wonder how many times he has played that cours? I sure put up better numbers on my local course then I do at other ones.

Most Masters winners understandably don't play in the following week's tournament, but Spieth had previously committed to playing the RBC Heritage this week and is playing despite a whirlwind week in the media spotlight following what had to be an emotionally exhausting triumph at Augusta. He was on David Letterman's show the other night and received a standing ovation when he was introduced. I was disappointed with Letterman's questions though, lame and unknowledgeable.

Jordan shot a 74 Thursday but followed it up with a sizzling 62 yesterday and then 68 today. He's five shots back going into tomorrow's final round.

A well rested Spieth returns to the top of the leaderboard at The Crown Plaza Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas.

Spieth opened with a 6 under 64 and is tied for 1st with the likeable Boo Weekley, Kevin Na, and Ryo Ishikawa.

Spieth sank a lot of big putts and the announcers were comparing his putting to a young Tiger Woods. 10-15 feet and in is good. Made a 24 footer for birdy on number 1.

He's fallen pretty fast, especially considering older guys like Jim Furyk, (who's won this year) Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson (who's finished runner up in his last two majors, plus a top 5 last week) are all ranked in the Top 20 in the world.

It's very encouraging. I've watched more golf in the last two years than in my previous 51 years on the planet. I might even get myself a set of clubs, I haven't golfed myself in 18 years.
It's still funny how the MSM covers golf with a collective yawn, since their beloved Tiger now sucks. Sad part is that many DWFs yawn right along since it has been proven they can't think for themselves.

Spieth shoots a 5 under 64 in today's AT&T Byron Nelson. He was T-7 when he finished going into Saturday.

I saw an interesting stat on Spieth; he has the most, (11), first and second place finishes before the age of 22. Three wins and eight seconds.

Tiger is second with 7.

Jordan Spieth finishes strong at The Memorial today with a -7, 65 and a T-3. Another top 10 or should I say another top 5. Today makes the 17th top 5 finish of his young career.

He has more top 5 finishes before age 22 than Tiger Woods, 17-12.

17 top 5 finishes already! I think that's a good thing, however, I wish he could have won just a few of those close finishes. He does have 3 PGA wins at 21, including the Masters.

I hope we're looking at someone who could someday rival Woods in accomplishments, namely Major wins and wins overall. He has a good start.

Some other stats include:

Number 1 in FED EX points by over 600 ahead of Jimmy Walker.
1st in top 10's (9).
1st in money, over $6,000,000
2nd in the World Rankings

Already in the top 100 in all time money with over $14,000,000.

All at the age of 21.

I believe Spieth is skipping the next tournament in preparation for The U.S. Open.

Rory McIlroy's world number 1 ranking is within reach for Spieth if he can finish 7th or better this weekend at the John Deere and somehow win The British Open.

As I posted earlier on McIlroy's thread, he is likely to miss The Open, because of an injury to his left ankle while playing soccer with friends.

After shooting an even par 71 and a T-101 after the first round of The John Deere on Thursday, Jordan Spieth shoots 64 Friday and a 61 today to vault to -17 and the lead going into Sunday's final round.

Whether he wins or not, he is deserving of all that's coming his way. From honoring his commitments, his well behaved attitude and just his overall maturity. He's certainly a credit to us all.

He turns 22 this month and has 4 PGA wins and 2 Majors! Hopefully, he finishes it off tomorrow for his 5th win.

Four wins this season so far at the age of 21, almost 22. Three others have two wins, it's the way Tiger Woods dominated the tour for a dozen years, but he didn't do it at a similar age. Jordan is an old soul with immense talent, can't wait for the Open next week and to see his career unfold.

By winning the Fed Ex Cup Championship Jordan Spieth broke a few more records:

The youngest player, since Horton Smith 1929, to win 5 or more tournaments at 22 years and 2 months.

The only player to win The Masters and the Tour Championship in the same season.

He broke the single season record for money earned of $20,867,052 held by Tiger Woods. Spieth earned $22,030,465 after his Fed Ex bonus of $10,000,000.

Spieth not only will win the Vardon Trophy, which goes to the golfer with the lowest scoring average, he will also undoubtedly win the PGA POY award.

.....and he will also retain golf's world number 1 ranking!
