What a farce. Is this a joke? Once Brad Childress found out he had 11" hands, he wanted to make him a quarterback? He took a few impressive reps and now this could make Sage Rosenfels the odd man out when Favre returns?

I searched for his stats and came across many articles about how he could be the Vikings qb of the future, but nobody would quote his college stats.

Then, I finally found them. Joe's senior season at UAB? 8 TOUCHDOWNS AND 21 INTERCEPTIONS!!

I pray to god that this guy is not under center when Toby gets his chance.

Stats like that would've gotten him laughed off the field and treated worse than Cade McNown, Heath Schuler, or Tim Couch.

Yea, this is a joke. Just any other hyped up afflete. I do believe with the caste seeing such huge busts at QB in the higher rounds for affletes they number of back up and third string black qbs will continue to increase. They will begin to take those jobs from better suited white qbs due to their "athleticism" and "potential". Unfortunatley at the college ranks it looks like their are more and more black qbs which will equal more of them getting drafted and darkening the QB position. I do also believe the smarter teams will be looking at 1-AA and Division 2 white qbs. Guys like Flacco and Skelton.

according to ESPN's college football stats page, Webb had 21 touchdowns and 8 interceptions as a senior. your numbers are backwards, mate.

Webb, who was named the Conference USA Player of the Year as a quarterback last year, is a terrific athlete. he wasn't invited to the Combine, but at UAB's Pro Day he ran a 4.44 40, posted a 42.5-inch vertical and a broad jump of 11 feet, 5 inches, ran a 6.71 3-cone drill, threw up 21 reps on the 225-bench press, and measured at 6-feet-3 and 223 pounds.pretty impressive numbers, methinks.

and he'sabout asa good a leaper as John Wendling.

Webbwas certainly an exciting running quarterback in college. will he make a good NFL quarterback? that obviously remains to be seen. but posters at Caste Football don't need to make up crap or disparage the actual performances of blacks to make our point. you can do better than that, icsept.

while it is ridiculous that Childress would move a guy to quarterback because of how big his hands are (that part of the story is apparently true), what would you expect from an organization that drafted Tarvaris Jackson to be "the guy" at quarterback?

JC no doubt Joe Webb is a talented athlete, he just should not be a quarterback in the NFL. And if he ever does get to start some games, I think his level of play will prove he should be at WR.

Yeah, he's a good athlete, but I agree, he should probably be a WR instead of QB.

Sorry about the bad stat. Honest mistake, and if I had known the correct stat I wouldn't have used so much negative hyperbole.Edited by: icsept

Anyway who cares if they use him at quarterback. It's not like he's going to be a threat to Favre if he decides to play this year.

Would you guys say the same about Tim Tebow? Now I know that Tebow has accomplished more in a tough BCS conference and is a better QB prospect IMO, but I think a lot of the flawed arguments for switching Tebow to another position could be used on Webb. Webb has the build of a WR though and has more long speed than Tebow, so he'd make a better WR, but I think Tebow could make a good powerback (ala a poor man's Peyton Hillis?) in a dual set backfield if he was switched by the Broncos.

Tough J, Tebow played in the SEC which the media hypes up as the "toughest' coonference. Webb put up those stats in Conference USA, not exactly a conference known for pumping out prospects. Tebow has a different body build and is a proven leader(he's a special guy).

I guess we'll see how this pans out in the upcoming years, when I see Webb, I see another black QB from Alabama. Tarvaris Jackson who the Vikings scooped up from another small Alabama school(Alabama State I believe).

Celtic, I agree with your points and I myself mentioned that Tebow was from a tougher BCS conference. I was more or less playing Devil's advocate. I should have also mentioned Tebow was instrumental in helping lead Florida to two "National Championships" (and he was the most important Florida player during his 2nd championship season there). Tebow also threw more TDs in his best seasons than Joe Webb.

But there is no doubt that Joe Webb is one of the all time great FBS dual threat QBs. I think Webb at least deserves a look at QB in the NFL. It is very likely with his freakish athleticism that WR is his best position, but similar to Matt Jones he could probably play both.

Getting back to Tebow, he should be a QB first and if that doesn't work out, then just wildcat guy- and rotational powerback. Tebow does not have the build of a WR! Spot on Celtic!Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

That's what I was thinking Tough, I think his athleticism serves him best at WR, but he should get a look at QB.
