Jimmer has to be a Lottery Pick! He is just too talented to not go high in the first round. I still think that either Minnesota or Utah would be a perfect fit for him! The Twolves need to find out if Rubio is going to back out. Just a few days ago I was reading that he is still not sold on playing there. I think they shoudl go after Jimmer. I like the sound of Jimmer to Love!

Let's be realistic. He's no better than JJ Redick!

Yeah, I like him on the T Wolves too. I posted it a few times.
What I think they should do is trade Rubio to the Clippers for Chris Kaman and maybe the Clippers first round pick too.
Jimmer and Kaman on the T Wolves would be perfect fits.
Rubio would do well on the Clippers.

Of course the "experts" are comparing him to Redick. Fredette is a better ball handler than Redick and is also better at creating off the dribble. I se him as a more athletic Stephan Curry.

And that is no disrespect to Redick, who I think will be a legitimate star if he can get the minutes.

One positive thing is that Jimmer will be playing the point in the NBA as opposed to JJ who plays the 2. The 2 position is supposedly the most athletic position in the NBA and that's why JJ was called too "slow" by the media and DWF's. He's certainly proven them wrong and is a solid player who could average 15ppg with the proper minutes.

I hope y'all have the stomach to read this, it's simply anti-white through and through.

NBA could SLOW Jimmer

Jimmer's magical ride should slow in NBA</font>
By Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports

Before he had become a one-name basketball phenom, a late-night TV and Internet sensation, Jimmer Fredette planned to pass on his senior season and stay in the 2010 NBA draft. The New Jersey Nets were inclined to take him in the late 20s, sources said, but Fredette sought a guarantee and the Nets' past president, Rod Thorn, couldn't bring himself to make the promise.

"Some executives will lie to a kid and take someone else that slips down to that spot,"Â one close associate said. "But Rod would never do that."Â

The Nets had gone into draft day with the 27th pick, and a season of scouting him â€" including a private workout in East Rutherford â€" had them sold. Thorn had two scouts pushing him hard on Fredette. Once the New Orleans Hornets snatched Iowa State's Craig Brackins(notes) before the Nets could complete a trade to move up, the irony turned out that Thorn would've been free to pick Fredette.

Truth be told, Fredette will never regret a return to BYU for his senior season. This is the best season of his basketball life, and nothing that'll happen in the NBA could ever surpass the way he's commanding the sport. Nearly every NBA team had a representative â€" including general managers Pat Riley of the Miami Heat, R.C. Buford of the San Antonio Spurs, Daryl Morey of the Houston Rockets and Bryan Colangelo of the Toronto Raptors â€" to watch him drop 43 points on No. 4 San Diego State on Wednesday night in Provo, Utah.

Only Kevin Durant topped him that night â€" hitting for 47 points â€" and as soon as the Oklahoma City Thunder's overtime victory ended, here were the first words out of Durant's Twitter account: "Jimmer Fredette is the best scorer in the world!!"Â

From everywhere on the floor, Fredette is a relentless, ferocious scorer. His range stretches far beyond the 3-point line, and his deftness with the ball â€" not to mention his toughness â€" gets him to the basket and the free-throw line. He's scoring in the 30s, the 40s on some nights â€" averaging a nation-best 27.4 points per game â€" and perhaps it's so amazing because people just don't see that coming from a 6-foot-2 Mormon out of upstate New York. There's no debating Fredette's greatness as a collegiate scorer, but most fascinating is projecting what kind of pro player he'll be.

Conversations with multiple NBA general managers and scouts who've tracked Fredette's progress result in one consensus: Almost no one agrees on anything. Perhaps there's something about a white guard with American roots which causes such prejudging, stereotyping and skepticism to abound. Perhaps there's something about a white guard with American roots which causes such rooting interest and overhype. People are forever trying to pin Fredette into a neat little comparative box. Most agree he could top out in the late lottery around 12 or 13 but probably won't last past the mid-20s.

It's funny how Fredette draws comparisons to Gonzaga's Adam Morrison and Duke's J.J. Redick. They don't play so much like him, but they sure are white guys. Thirty years ago, the best player in BYU history, Danny Ainge, would've been the highest-drafted player in school history had he told NBA teams he preferred pro basketball over pro baseball. He was a different athlete than Fredette â€" bigger, faster and more suited for the pro game. For whatever it was worth, there was no shortage of comparable players in the NBA.

"I was a guy who could run, had good speed, and never in my college career did anyone question my athleticism,"Â Ainge said. "If I wasn't playing baseball, I would've certainly been one of the top five or six picks. I don't think anyone in the NBA was thinking about that with me or Doug Collins. We were bigger. We were athletic."Â

For all the comparisons to Fredette, perhaps the one that NBA executives most make is with Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry(notes). The former Davidson star was a one-man wrecking crew, small, slight and full of flair, pushing 30 points a game outside of the power conferences. Several executives and scouts believe the Fredette-Curry contrast is a good way to measure BYU's star, while several others don't believe Jimmer belongs in his class.

"An insult to Curry's talent,"Â one Eastern Conference personnel executive said.
Unlike Jimmer Fredette, Danny Ainge never had his athleticism or quickness questioned when he came to the NBA from BYU 30 years ago.

Out West, there's an NBA scout who's closely followed Fredette's career. He's watched him courtside multiple times over the past couple seasons, and flatly said: "I'm telling you, he's better than Stephen Curry.

"Curry was always taking difficult, off-balance shots because he couldn't create space like Fredette can for himself. Plus, I don't think his team is any good. He's doing this himself. He's having one of the most remarkable seasons any college player's had in the last 10 or 15 years.

"If this kid played in the ACC or Big East, they'd be building a statue for him."Â

A Western Conference GM who has personally scouted Fredette this season, called him a player who belongs in the bottom half of the first round: "He doesn't contribute in enough areas of the game besides scoring for me; does not set up teammates well or rebound; and is obviously lacking a defensive position."Â

Nevertheless, the GM said, "He can score at our level. His ability to quickly change directions with power and rise up on balance for his shot is special."Â

For all Fredette's wondrous scoring ability, most have trouble seeing him as much more than a backup point guard â€" and some doubt even that.

"He's going to have to defend Chris Paul and Derrick Rose and Rajon Rondo in the NBA,"Â another Western Conference GM said. "He's played his whole life with the ball in his hands, and it's in his hands 80 percent of the time now. He doesn't do much without the ball. We all know he can pass and loves to score, but what team will he fit into that's going to let him play his game and be such a defensive liability?

"Over his four years, he's averaged just over one foul a game. That's got to tell you something right there. And he's probably getting called for a charge maybe once a game, so half of that total is probably not even on the defensive end. I mean, how can you never get into foul trouble? Hey, with five minutes left in the game, you kind of got to get down into a defensive stance and get a stop, don't you? Get a loose ball, a deflection, a rebound. He's just a scorer.

"And it's debatable whether he's a better scorer than Curry was,"Â the GM added. "Curry had more juice. He had a sneaky quickness. Jimmer can get by with his strength and quickness with the guys covering him in college, but against NBA defenders? Curry is the closest comparable player, but Jimmer isn't Mark Price or Steve Nash. He will never be one of those guys."Â

All these doubts could be playing out on the New Jersey Nets' bench this season, but Jimmer Fredette could get just one guarantee this season: That staying in school would bring him the time of his life. BYU has never been to a Final Four, and maybe he's the star to take the Cougars there 30 years after Ainge had gone end to end to beat Notre Dame in the NCAA tournament.

Whatever happens, basketball will never be better for The Jimmer, a college phenom with a cult following and one magical name.

More racist b.s.It really gets old. The guy could average a triple double every night but he would still be white. To be a white basketball player in america is like being a white sprinter. The stereotypes never end despite what you do night after night. Don't listen to them Jimmer. Let the hate feed your fuel for the fire. All the way to the top!

Well as you guys probably already know the Cougars lost. The whole team looked tired and I'm sure the non stop interviews were part of it and also playing a night game just a couple of days ago. New Mexico pulled the upset. Jimmer still played good. He had 32 points, 7 assists and 3 steals and this is despite him not being his normal self. He missed 3 free throws. This is a guy who makes 90% from the line. Well, you can't win them all but this loss hurts. I wouldn't want to be their next opponent. BYU is going to be playing angry. Especially Fredette. He just hates to lose as he is the ultimate warrior.

Many of his shot attempts are very difficult, and he's making them look so easy, no matter what team he plays against. Simply a freaking beast. Kevin Durant posted on his Twitter saying that "Jimmer Fredette is the best scorer in the world!!", now that's one hell of a praise if you ask me. Well, Jimmer's more than just a scorer, his defense and passing will get better once he enters the NBA.

I just hope Jimmer gets a legit shot in the NBA and isn't forced on the bench for half a decade like Redick who's more than earned a starting spot, yet his prime continues to be wasted on the bench...

I won't be able to watch the game tonight but I hope you guys can root on Jimmer! BYU needs to bounce back with a big win. I didn see a March Madness Preview with 8 teams to watch out for. BYU was listed as one of the 8 along with teams like Duke and Ohio State. That is high praise and the biggest reason is obviously Jimmer Fredette.

BYU is really struggling to get shots to fall, even Jimmer ... who can't find the range from beyond the 3-point arc. however, with 10 minutes left in the game, the Cougars are up 4, and Jimmer has 17.

i wish i had a link, but i feel "so protected" knowing homeland security has shut down the free tv sites...

BYU struggled from the floor, shooting just 40.7% from the floor and 20.8% from 3-point land. they also had too many turnovers.

Fredette, though, hit the big shots and his free throws down the stretch and BYU pulled out a surprisingly tough game on the road at Wyoming. he ended the game with 27, but was only 7-21 from the floor, 2-11 from 3-point range, and had 4 turnovers. BYU's black big man Brandon Davies was huge in the game for the Cougars. he finished with 20 points (9-15 field goals), 9 boards, 2 steals, and 2 blocks but had 6 pivotal turnovers.

BYU was lucky to escape with a win.Edited by: Jimmy Chitwood

Wow, just came across another thread about it, on a Bucknell basketball message board of all places.

Back to Fredette. You know your a great player when you have one of your worst shooting nights but still score 27 points. That is just a little under his season average. I'm sure they will play better on Saturday. I just can't wait for March Madness. It's going to be the Jimmer Show!

Despite having an off game, Jimmer still lead his team to an important victory. Kemba Walker, on the other hand, had 8 points on 3 of 14 shooting in a loss for UConn. Jimmer's 27 points would have been a good night for Kemba and Kemba's bad night honestly does not seem possible for Jimmer.

I'd say the Player of the Year is now down to Fredette and Sullinger of Ohio St. Kemba would be a distant 3rd at best.

I like Kemba ok, but yeah Fredette is a lot better. He is not only the best shooter in the game, he is also the best scorer. Plus, Jimmer has point guard skills. Nbadraft.net has Jimmer going number 13 which is pretty high. I think he goes higher depending on which team wants him. Some question if his game will translate to the NBA, but you can say that about ALL the players. Jimmer can shoot and that translates. He is also strong and stocky which will help at the next level. I am thinking who needs him the most. I think if the Jazz decide to rebuild and trade D-Will then Utah would be a good fit for him. As would the T-Wolves. If I were Portland I would trade Andre Miller if they could get Jimmer. Hopefully he goes to a team that needs him. Another good fit would be with the Kings since it would give them a other good guard, along with Udrih, to play alongside Tyreke Evans. DeMarcus Cousins is a beast and Omri Casspi is a very good player. That team also has some good backup big men in Carl Landry, Jason Thompson, and Samuel Dalembert. Yeah, they already have Beno and Fedette would take some of his minutes, but it would still be a great three guard rotation with Tyreke to go along with Casspi and Cousins who could become one of the best big men in the league. Personally, I think that if you are a good young point guard who is a great shooter then you need to go to a team that has a good young swingman and a good young big man. Along with solid young role players and shooters. The Kings have all those ingredients.

Fredette struggled to find an open shot for much of the game this afternoon against UNLV, who emplyed a hack-a-Jimmer strategy. apparently, the Runnin' Rebels wanted to see if the nation's leading scorer couldhandle"physical"defense ... well, he can.

BYU also won the road game comfortably, 78-64.

Fredette scored a game-high 29, hitting all 16 of his free throws. (like i said earlier,UNLV employed"physical" defense.) he also ended up shooting a respectable 6-14 from the floor, though he struggled for much of the game and only hit one long-range jumper. Fredette added a game-high 7 assists to go along with 3 rebounds, but he had a game-high 5 turnovers as well.

backcourt mate Jackson Emery played very well today, finishing with 15 points (on 50% shooting), 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals with only 1 turnover.
