I didn’t see anything on the site about Jim Brown’s passing. Brown, of course was one of the best, if not the best running backs ever. He was a great player.
The complete dominance of the running back position in the NFL by black players started in earnest when Brown became a star. At that time the position was White dominated, something that ended soon after Browns success.
His personal life was a mixed bag. He exhibited the same poor judgement and violent behavior exhibited by so many other black ex-athletes but his position as an “elder statesmen” enabled the media to overlook his past.
He was truly an icon. A football star that walked away from the game to become a movie star and eventuality a spokesman for blacks. He broke from the liberal consensus occasionally and even defended Donald Trump.
He was an interesting guy.
