Putting aside Goran Dragic who is considered a combo guard there is only one starting white PG in the NBA and the T- Wolves have been trying their hardest to run him out of town. Ricky Rubio has been playing his best ball of late which means he is scoring some points and shooting over 40%. To be fair he has not shot the ball well his entire career so it is hard to tell if he is truly turning the corner. And Rubio is not really a star at least not yet.
After Rubio there does not seem to be anyone coming down the pike. Just a black hole so to speak. Former Gonzaga grad and Jazz great John Stockton was the sterling PG who ruled the roost from the mid 80's through the early 2000's. Mark Price was also a key fixture during that period up until 1998 or so. Then two time MVP Steve Nash took the mantle from 1996-2012. And don't forget the flashy Jason Williams who played around the same time as Nash. These guys were stars. Today there are a few white back up PG's but certainly no stars.
And like I said looking down the road for miles and miles I see no star white point guards ( unless I am missing someone) emerging in the NBA for at least six years. Grayson Allen is like Dragic , more of a combo guard and there is nothing wrong with that. But having zero white PG's around the bend is just another annoying trend we have to gulp down. Following sports for me at least is a masochistic ordeal. There might come a time where I say screw this and walk away. I believe some of the members here have already done that.
