I agree- the Steelers are about as bad as they come. They were indeed one of the blackest teams in the NFL back in the 1970s. At a time when many teams still featured a starting white WR, they never even played a white reserve WR. They did feature FB Rocky Bleier, and he handled the ball a lot more than FBs do today, but along with their black-centric defense, there was nothing to like about the Steelers, imho. Of course, today they'd be the whitest team in the league.
I remember Joe Gilliam all too well- I guess we're lucky he isn't playing today, or he'd be given 5 years to prove himself as a starter. I loved Terry Hanratty, and was incensed that the Steelers never gave this college star a real chance to start. That's another reason I never liked Bradshaw.
Today's Steelers-Chargers contest was a classic example of why I believe these games are fixed. From their overturning the big pass play to Jackson (with no announcer babble about "conclusive evidence") to them not overturning Norv Turner's challenges, to the absurd 50 yard pass interference on hapless Eric Weddle, it certainly seemed like the officials were "managing" this game for Pittsburgh.
I have given up predicting the outcomes of these games, except that I know they will never permit anyone or anything that is likely to overturn the Caste System to succeed. But at least we are probably going to be able to watch the world's "sexiest" coach (can't even type that without laughing) face off against the QB with the most room brightening smile in the Super Bowl.
