Is a tattoo free speach?

The last 6 weeks I have been under the weather and going to doctor's appointments every week , trying to find out what was going on with me. I had to have a colonoscopy which I hate, but agreed to have against my better judgment. While the nurses was getting me ready, one notice my tattoo on my back. It is a burning cross with the letters KKK across and down the cross. I have had this tattoo since the mid 70's no problem with any doctor's or nurse's until now, one of the nurses was screaming bloody murder about me being racist and she was not going to help the other nurse get me to where they were to do the colonoscopy. I told her that was her choice and it was my choice to have a tattoo. As you can image several people came over and gave their two cents worth on the tattoo. I thought about leaving until the MD came over and told the nurses and other staff that they were there to do a job and they didn't want to do it, leave. He then told me it was 2018 I might need to joined the twenty first century. I would like ya'll opinion is a tattoo free speech or not?

I think a tattoo is free speech. The hospital staff had no business commenting on it, that's your personal business. They also had no moral right to deny you service on the basis of your beliefs or tattoo.

Unfortunately those on the left believe that if you have political beliefs anywhere to the right of Stalin you don't deserve to have medical care, a job, food, housing or even life. This is a serious problem that true conservatives and right wingers have to deal with.

It may be technically against the law to deny medical care based on you personal beliefs, I'm not sure. Perhaps a statement on your part saying, "I'm not here to promote any ideology, I'm just here for medical care," might help in such situations.

I would get a lawyer. Clearly your civil rights were violated. Although it might be hard to find a sympathetic lawyer, they're all leftist creeps. But there may be one eager for a cheap payday. I could see a settlement that would net you some cash. It might also generate publicity too.

If you no longer hold that symbol dear you should alter or cover it up. It won't help you in the future and you may not always be conscious and able to defend yourself.

You can put whatever you want on your body in my opinion. I believe its against the law for medical professionals to refuse to care for someone due to a tattoo.

I personally think tattoos are trashy, BUT they are indeed a personal right.
