Hunter Renfrow

I have wondered for a year why Lawrence has not asked someone in the Jags organization about inquiring about Renfrow. He, better than anyone, should know what Hunter's abilities are.

We see it time and time again: a white skill player helps his QB break records and then is quickly cast(e) aside for blacks. White QBs should advocate more for their white receivers like Brady did.

Warhawk_46, I hope this might be a good sign for the Jags to go after Renfrow. He has not retired.

This would be fantastic news! Renfrow will provide an exceptional target for Lawrence. How awesome would it be for Renfrow to post another 1k yard season years after being caste aside?
 
Very puzzling how Renfrow has been caste aside. He is a playmaker and I thought he had established himself as an NFL player. If he could fight his way on to a roster and make some noise he would be a candidate for comeback player of the year. Hell he would be coming back from the dead at this point.
 
Renfrow is likely to start the season at the bottom of the WR pecking order, behind Adam Thielen and Carolina's annual group of upsider busts and busts in waiting, but he's generating a lot of positive hype thus far. Rooting hard for him to force his way into a regular role as the season goes along. Would be cool as can be to see Thielen and Renfrow lead Carolina in receiving.

After missing so much football and a year off this couldn't happen to a better guy. So happy to read that he is adjusting to the new offense as he regains that football mentality. The Panthers will be fun to watch with Renfrow and Thielen moving the chains.
 
A full four years after making the Pro Bowl, Renfrow is "still weighing his options" to see if he can find someplace to "operate in a rotational backup role." Josh McDaniels set this screwing in motion but the entire league has piled on since. He may or may not have had an illness last year, but that doesn't begin to explain what's happened to his career.

We do not expect Renfrow to land a flex-worthy role, entering his age-30 season. Renfrow was sidelined for the entirety of 2024 due to ulcerative colitis. He could help a young quarterback develop, operating in a rotational backup role, though.

At this point just getting on the field as a rotational backup would be a huge improvement over his last years with the Raiders. I hope that he doesn't take too long weighing his options and becomes memory-holed instead.

I agree. At this point beggers can't be choosers. Let's hope he goes to a team with weak receivers regardless of if the team is a playoff team. Just to see him play a few years before he retires would be great. We don't need another Andy Isabella never getting another chance to
play despite his talent.
 
He’s done. I believe what was reported that he struggled with an auto-immune disease. There’s no other explanation for his decline. He was a made man with a new contract, so the caste system was already busted. Unfortunately, he may have sealed his own fate by taking the jab or maybe triple jabbing. Now, Father Time is going to get him.

That would be unfortunate. But Travis Kelce told us the jab is good! Get two jabs at once!
 
This is a nice surprise to come across. Hopefully it happens:

Panthers WR Hunter Renfrow is listed as a starting wide receiver on the team’s unofficial Week 1 depth chart. Renfrow was cut and re-signed to the Panthers’ active roster after Jalen Coker was placed on injured reserve. The 29-year-old is the only player listed in a slot wide receiver role on the team’s depth chart. Coker was expected to play the slot frequently this season, but now that he is sidelined, it looks like Renfrow will be in the slot role. He will still trail Tetairoa McMillan and Xavier Legette in the pecking order but could earn his way do fantasy viability early on in the season.
 
Renfrow is not done yet! Very weak WR room in Carolina, he stays healthy he should be featured quite a bit.
