In the sprints Austin Kratz placed third in the 100 M and FIRST in the 200M with a time of 21.01
the 100 isn’t run indoors. Kratz placed third in the 60, the indoor short sprint. his time in the deuce was the 8th-fastest ALL-TIME indoors by a high schooler. i know a lot of states don't run indoors, but that’s still flying!

it’s been a weird spring of bad weather for track across most of the country, but there have already been some fast 4x100 relays run. the current #2 fastest time nationally is by a quartet from The Woodlands in TX, running the lap in 40.50 at Rice in the Victor Lopez Classic. why is this noteworthy? two members of the team are White athletes: Jake Lanier and Ethan Bonner. Lanier is also a nationally elite 200-meter guy.

Arkansas has had a VERY wet and cold spring, causing many meets to be cancelled. even so, there are two youngsters of note who are ones to keep an eye on due to both their youth and the fact they come from regions not known for sprinting.
Cole Joyce is a 9th-grader from Bentonville. he is the fastest 100-meter guy in Northwest Arkansas, regardless of grade level. the high school freshman has only run outside three times this spring but has a wind-legal 11.11 (#5 overall wind-legal time in the state) and a windy 10.89 (#2 overall time in the state). he’s just a freshman! as an aside, last year as an 8th-grader, he took the regional title in the 100, the 200, and ... get this ... the shot put! he’s thrown the shot over 48 feet this year, as well. he’s EXPLOSIVE. he plays football, as well.
on the girls side, sophomore Carly Strong from Sheridan won the Class 5A/6A/7A (big schools) State Championship indoors in the 60m. last year as a freshman, she finished 7th in the 100 and 5th in the 200 at the Arkansas Meet of Champs and is currently ranked #2 overall in the girls 100 with a wind-legal 12.19 and #3 in the deuce with a wind-legal 25.84.
