This kid is 6'4" and only 160. So far this season he has run 14.13 for the 110 hurdles, long jumped 24'7", high jumped 7'3/4", 48.7 400 meters, 36.28 300 hurdles and 52.75 400 hurdles. It will be interesting to see how he develops and what he chooses to concentrate on.

Mr. Klech had a decent California state meet. He won the 300 intermediate hurdles in 36.06! Was runner-up in the 110 hurdles at 13.98 and took third in the long jump at 22' 5.75" into gusty winds. He scored 24 points for his team which placed 5th with, you guessed it, 24 points. Maybe next year he'll single-handedly win the California meet.

That is ironic.Brutal was just saying that there are

hit the 7th hurdle in the 110 hurdles,David would have

David Klech is competing in the World Youth Championships in Marrakech. He ran 51.84 in his 400 hurdles heat which was the world leading youth time. It was later bested by a Kenyan and a Saudi running 51.40. Should be a terrific final.

Klech is amazing to see in person. He is very "underdeveloped", by that I
mean physically immature in comparison to many of the blacks he has
been beating on the track. (Blacks tend to physically mature 2 - 4 years
faster than whites, and few people point this out) He still has that
adolescent awkwardness about him, which makes his technical abilities all
the more amazing. At the World Youth meet, he was beaten by two 'kids'
who were quite obviously over the age limit for the competition. But
that's the way it is in jr. competitions around the world. African countries
are the biggest offenders, dropping in athletes who are obviously in their
mid 20's to compete against 16 year olds. Even the ever PC Track and
Field News had to comment on this.
Klech was in so many events at last year's state meet I think a touch of
fatigue hit him, and that cost him the 110's. He has awesome potential in
several events, although I think he should stick to the 400 hurdles (and
open 400) or the high jump. He's amazing in the high jump, going over 7

Klech has future decathlete star written all over him. Also your right I looked like that when I was about 15 to 16. Except I was bout 2 to 3 seconds slower over the century...

Sounds like he could be the next Trey Hardee.Congrats to Klech on another great meet.Keep up the great running.
Klech is too skinny for the decathalon. Don't forget he would have to do the shot put, discus, javelin, and pole vault.
I think if he concentrates on the 400m Hurdles exclusively, he could really go far with it. His season just started, and he ran one of the fastest HS times ever. He may be the record holder by the end of the summer.

This kid can truley do it all.Have you ever seen him compete live surfsider?Just curious.I will have to keep an eye on him as he gets closer to college.This kid has to be the best all around track star in the whole country.It's great to see him getting the recognition that he deserves.Keep it up Klech!

WL - I've seen Klech perform a couple of times, he's an undworldy talent.
When you see how young/undeveloped he looks next to some of the
black kids who look to be in their early 20's (they physically mature
earlier on average) you almost want to laugh. He needs to keep working
on his form - that alone will give him massive drops in time in the 400
hurdles, he does look like a guy who's going to be world class in a year or
so. I hope that holds true. I mentioned in another thread that it's funny
to see the faces of many black spectators when Klech is tearing up the
track. Most of the time, he's facing an all black field and leaving them far
behind. It's as big a hoot as watching Wariner these days. I'm looking
forward to seeing Klech run at the state meet in a few weeks. I think he
can take the National Record in the 300 hurdles sub 35.
I think he's been concentrating more on the hurdles this year, and not
putting as much work into other events. His high jump and long jump
talents are superb but he hasn't been putting in big marks in these events
this year - compared to last year. I think he wants that NR in the 300's
