It wasn't just the trip, it also the crying episode. You guys hype these guys up but every single time it seems these guy just become NBA bust. I wouldn't blame any NBA team for not wanting to draft a crybaby, who needs his safe-space. Doug McDermott can't play denfense, Kelly Olynyk is injury proned and can't score, and the Zeller brother were both huge disappointments. Other than Hayward, Porzingis, and Love, I don't see many white guys living up to the hype.
Come on we're not allowed to have just one guy on our team who has a few screws loose ? Every week we see black players chimping out, throwing temper tantrums, and bawling their eyes out on the bench but a White kid finally does it and we have to throw him under the bus ? He's still a great basketball player. And other then the way overblown "tripping incidents" and the one meltdown I've yet to hear anything bad about him.
And if you think racial discrimination and apprenticeships are bad in the NFL they're much worse in the NBA. If you're a white American player and you get drafted high nobody wants you to succeed. The league, your coaches, and your coworkers will do everything they can to make sure you don't. Doug McDermott was a lottery pick and NCAA national player of the year and he only got to play 8 minutes a game in the 30 games he was even activated for. Sure he got injured but he was back in a month. It's impossible to succeed getting only 8 minutes a game even if you're a rookie. The same goes for a lot of White American players who are lucky enough to make it to the NBA. It happened to JJ Reddick, Jimmer, Stauskas, and countless other players. JJ Reddick, one of the greatest college basketball players of all time, was so upset with his lack of playing time early in his career that he even wanted to be traded. After a long racial apprenticeship he finally found a good role on the Clippers averaging 16 ppg as a third option and past his athletic prime. The guy could have averaged 25 ppg if he were treated like any other black lottery pick. If you're a black lottery pick you're immediately given a ton of minutes every night and a green light to shoot. Jimmer, McDermott, and Reddick all could have been 25 ppg scorers if given a fair chance.
And I honestly don't know if McDermott is a bad defender but I do know that being a bad defender is something you can accuse almost any white player of and everyone will believe you. The ironic thing is that it's usually blacks who are the worst defenders because of how lazy they are. If you want a black player to play good defense give them a white or asian guy to guard, they'll actually give some effort then.
