The fight was mostly one sided from the get go, and I was fairly confident it would be. Golovkin hurt brook in the first round and had him running. Brook tried to distance himself and found marginal success for a couple rounds. But as stated above, once Golovkin turned it on Brook was in full survival mode. I was never nervous for GGG because he never stopped walking Brook down and he never even tried to avoid his punches. As for the stoppage, I felt Brook had another 30 seconds or so before being beaten to the canvas however his corner is probably eyeing other big money fights and this fight was a "test the water" situation at middleweight. Once they knew the ultimate outcome, they actually saved Brook as he may have received a beating that would leave him damaged for the remainder of his career. I will say that Brook gave a decent account of himself for moving up and seemed like a decent sportsman. I still feel Canelo will avoid GGG. Perhaps a Canelo/Brook fight will be in the works. Errol Spence is Brooks mandatory challenger at welterweight should he choose to go back down.
