Great find greyghost. I haven't heard of this kid. They have alot of nice talent in the youth both in Germany and Great Britain. I'm hoping that most of these kids stick with athletics. We have to find more Lemaitre/Guliyev types in the sprints!
 
Holy cow. Is this the German LeMaitre? I read the article--the kid's not turning 16 until May, they just turned him from a bruised-shins soccer player to a sprinter--and all of his times have been blazing fast for his age. The 21.64 is no fluke.

How good is he? LeMaitre was only running 21.30 indoors when he was two years older than Simon and only 21.19 when he was three years older. LeMaitre is, of course, horrible on curves, but as late as 2011, LeMaitre's best indoor time for the season was 21.18. That's just to put Simon in perspective.

No for some real perspective. Everyone tries to prove that Usain Bolt is clean by pointing out how awesome he was as a youth. Well, 15-yr-old Usain Bolt's best OUTDOOR 200, with a wind at his back, was 21.73--slower than Simon indoors!!!!

Great find, greyghost. WL, keep an eye on this kid.
 
Now let's get a look at the kid.

First a video from last summer, when, shortly after turning 15, he won a 100m in 11.09. Looks like a beanpole.

Second, a video from this February. Now 15 1/2, he wins an indoor 200 in 21.66. I'm not sure how old his opponents were.

Needless to say, a gawky kid like this has tons of upside as he matures.

Wow he has potential to win major medals at the senior level. At the youth and junior level he should win world medals if he keeps improving. Many posters have stated that so many talented White sprinters(track athletes in general) need to be discovered. This guy is another case of this.
 
Thanks for posting the videos. He sure is skinny and his form is awful. He doesn't bring his arm swing up that high and he runs kind of raggedy. Who cares? This kid can fly. Get him the training and have him eating healthy along with lifting to gain strength. Wow is he special. Some incredible potential here. Just so you guys know, greyghost found him. I only edited the spelling of his name as greyghost spelled it wrong. Other than that I didn't change anything on his first post. Greyghost gets credit for this find. Great find greyghost!

I second that white lightning and I will add; he needs more knee lift and less head movement; notice especially in the 200m side to side head movement. He potentially could cut 2 tenths immediately with better form!

Good news out of Germany today. Julien Reuss has decide to run both the 100 & 200 meters at the German Nat'l Champs and at the European Championships. This is after his running a 10.27 & 20.64 yesterday despite being exhausted. I hope he continues to get faster. I had such high hopes for Reuss, and Blum but injuries really killed both of these guys for the last 3-4 years. Maybe this will be a special summer. I would also like to see Robert Herring find his form from several year ago. This is from the German Leictathletik Webiste translated below.


(Julian Reus DM plans to launch double)

On Saturday, he has met over 100 and 200 meters, the EM standards, according to plans sprinter Julian Reus also a double start at the German Championships in Bochum-Wattenscheid (16-17. June). With its presence in he was "very satisfied, especially after I had the Diamond League final in Rome also still travel stress."
 
After watching the meet in Germany yesterday, I wasn't really impressed with any of the German sprinters.
A few years ago, Blum looked promising, but nothing much since then.
Herring looked like the real deal, but has disappeared.
The rest of the guys have good races once in awhile, but no consistency, and nothing really noteworthy overall in my opinion.
But maybe Reuss can continue his improvement.....

yo guys i reckon reus will do well in his summers euros , he had 4 races at the sparkasse gala.. and 2 olympic qualifying standards .... if he stays injury free i reckon he can medal in the euros ...also good to see herring back racing , he has had serious injuries..:biggrin1::biggrin1::rockon:

mannheim yesterday .. lukas jakubzyck 10.17 with 2.3+ wind .. this guy has big upside if he could get stronger .. he is like a spindly colt ... he needs some met rx:icon_wink:.. not sure about german strength training methodology .. they dont seem to grasp .. that strength is amust... they should be getting some one like a frank emmelmann to train some of these guy .. he lives near berlin ..

That's a good run. He's showing quite a lot of consistency for his young age. I think we'll see a breakthrough soon as the weather warms.

The Germans like the Russians know how to train with strength the problem is they don't know how to train clean athletes and combine strength training with the modern short sprinters. Look at old photos of Manfred Kokot he was built like a bull and was the 60 meter world record holder before Ben Johnson.
