That's true DixieDestroyer. I am really beginning to think a athlete's intelligence should be considered a athletic skillset. Why let the caste system get away with always defining a athlete by speed and leaping ability? It should also include strength, stamina, agility, hand-eye coordination and yes even intelligence. As proved often on this site, there are certainly many white athletes with great speed and leaping ability.

In the latest issue of Sporting News the NFC correspondent states "Rams free agent pick-up Drew Bennett (6-5, 206) will add an element long missing from the club's receiving unit: the size to make plays in the red zone. Bennett has deceptive speed but drops balls occasionally." (p. 73)
So, what exactly is "deceptive speed"? Could it be a white guy who is fast, therefore deceptive, because how can a white guy be fast?
The Arizona correspondent is Kent Somers. I'm assuming that Mr. Somers is a white guy who was always predictably slow.

No, no, you guys missed it. Drops balls occasionally is a COMPLIMENT, because as anybody knows who watches football black receivers drop balls FREQUENTLY, so the guy who only does it 'occasionally' is obviously the better player.
Really, it would be fun to crawl around in that guys head and try to figure out the mental gymnastics that force him to write something like that.
"Hmmm, have to say something good about Drew Bennett, let's see, he's kinda fast, but not really fast, like a lot of the other receivers, don't know why, but he isn't as good as all of the other receivers, there's something about him, let me think..... saw him drop a pass once, yes that's it, he drops passes once in a while. THAT'S why he's different! TA DA!
And the best part about it from his perspective is that he'll get nothing but compliments from his fellow writers. Yeah they'll be patting him on the back, fans will be telling him he really knows his stuff. Nothing but positive feedback on something that he is totally wrong about?

Absolute garbage. I'd bet anything that the guy who wrote that about Bennett did not go back and watch video of every catchable ball thrown to Bennett and actually do the math to see if Bennet dropped catchable passes with any more frequency than any other wide receiver in the NFL.
See if Bennett were only average speed or below for a WR, he'd say he is sure handed but slow. But he's not slow, so he had to say he drops too many passes. You can't seem too positive about a white athlete who plays a black dominated position like WR, that's rule #14, page 3 of the Caste rule book.

I was watching N.C. State playing today, and they had a white freshmen playing point guard, a red haired one at that. One of the announcers said "he looks like he should be home doing his 7th grade homework." The underlying assumption is that he doesn't really belong there.
Would they ever say that about a baby faced black player? No, he's there because he's super talented and precocious.

Good observations. I often hear or read of white men referred to as "boyish looking" or having "boyish smiles." One doesn't read this about black men because it would be considered racist or at the least demeaning, and rarely is a woman described as "girlish" looking because it would be considered to be demeaning or "sexist."

One of the best (or worst) remarks in this line were made by a Duke professor name Peter Wood while attacking the Duke LAX players last April.
Wood was quoted in the April 1 NY Times comparing the LAX players unfavorably with Duke football players. "The football players here," he said, "are often rural white boys with baseball caps or hard-working black students who are proud to be at Duke."

After reading all these good examples of euphenisms, it brings to mind the some bogus, BS stereotypes like....only blacks have rythmn, only blacks can sing , only blacks can dance (I don't dance unless it's a slow dance with my wife at a wedding...it's just a old-school, "macho" thing...ie - real men don't dance).
Of course, there's the ultimate insinuation that all "bruthas" are well-endowed. I can't validate that one...nor do I want to! However, I can only speak for my (white) self, and (at the risk of sounding like a fruitcake here) I'm 6'8 & wear a size 18 EEE shoe if that's any indication.
All of these are bogus attributes to the greeeeeat Affffrican-American. Of course mainstream "entertainment" perpetuates these many "gifts" of the wooooonderful Affffrican-American; just as the sports caste system mouthpieces spew all of the euphenisms discussed in this thread/topic!

We've discussed the whole "size" issue before. Any differences that MAY exist pretty much disappear when you look at "show" versus "go."

You have a good memory. I remember all those guys as well. I especially remember Hardbody Harrison and how terrible and one-dimensional he was on the mike. Koko B Ware with his parrot that he always walked to the ring with. Vigil got his start as the butler for the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase. Do you remember Ice Man King Parsons who used to work with the Von Erichs and the Freebirds back in the 80's when wrestling was at it's best? Norman Smiley is the most ridiculous jobber of all with his patented little wiggle/spanking dance. Some of those guys you mentioned did achieve a moderate level of stardom. I almost forgot. I remember all of those guys. Iceman was allied with the Von Erichs during their feuds with the Freebirds and Skandar Akbar's Devistation Inc. I first saw Butch Reed when he was in the WWF as "the natrual" with his hair dyed blonde. He feuded with Superstar Billy Graham during his comeback run in '87.
Other black wrestlers in WCCW were Abdullah the Butcher, Zulu, and Kamala. Iceman was definately the most over one though. Him and Chris Adams were almost as popular as the Von Erichs

I remember Ice Man Parsons and Kamala. I think Kamala may still be doing some matches in the Mid-South area too. You men should check out some of the youtube clips on Memphis Wrestling from back in the day. Great stuff! Jerry Lawler and Hulk Hogan have signed to wrestle each other in Memphis at a yet to be determined date and location. I hope I'm back home in time to go see it. Lawler beat Hogan back in the beginning of Hulk's career.

Good stuff..Reb and Lance. I would love to see that Lawler-Hogan match. Do you guys remember Iceman's two catch phrases?.."like momma say, it bees that way sometime, have mercy"! and he was always calling somebody he didn't like a "rooly poot". Whatever that is. It's no suprise that Kamala and Koko are still wrestling with 58 year old Ric Flair still mid-carding at WWE.

I don't know if you remember Pork Chop Cash, but he's a black wrestler who started in the mid 70s and is still doing some local matches. I saw him wrestle for a local promotion in Cleveland, Mississippi in 2003. He had about 3 visible teeth and long greying beard and hair. I was amazed that he was still going as he looked about worn out. By the way, he is who Pork Chop Womack in the NFL is nicknamed after.
As for that first Iceman phrase, I remember Brickhouse Brown used to say that a lot too.
As soon as I find out when the Lawler/Hogan match will be, I'll let you know.
A sad Memphis wrestling bit is that the Mid-South Coliseum closed for good on December 31 of last year. It opened in 1971 and NWA/AWA/CWA/USWA wrestling was held there for 26 years. I never went to a wrestling event there, butwas in it once when I was 8.
Speaking of the "Nature Boy" I saw him at a WCW event in Shreveport in 1997 and filmed some of it. I was about halfway up in the Hirsch Coliseum and I could still see that knot on his back under the ring lights. The guy he was wrestling accidentally pulledFlair's tights down over his rear end during a move, mooning the entire crowd. Funny stuff!
