I always "enjoy" hearing "makes the most of his ability." A bit longer than a word or two, but every time I hear it, I know for sure the object of this complement is not black or brown.

for whites:

"overachiever" (probably the most used one of all)

"gritty"

"non-stop motor"

"not much of an athlete"

and here's one increasingly heardabout black football players --"student of the game"

"student of the game" well certainly not just a student!

you know my favorite is "lacks quick-twitch athleticism", I use it all the time with my friends. They don't get it but it cracks me up every time!

A term I have seen used to describe at least one black player on a pro football team for around 40 years is, "the most respected player on the team."

Hustler..."gets the most out of his limited athletic ability"..never said about a black athlete.

A black guy can weigh 300 lbs and move slow as molasses and he'll still be described as "explosive."

Let's not forget 'natural athlete,' and 'charismatic.'

Every white wide out is a 'possession receiver,' regardless of actual ability or his use on the football field.

Even compliments towards blacks must be worded correctly. "He's a real credit to his race -- er -- uh -- the human race.'"

"fan favorite" is another term commonly used to refer to White players.

"grinder" is another one, but thats more commonly used in hockey for a fourth-line player that works extra hard to score a much-needed goal. But I have also heard idiotic, race-pandering commentators use it to describe White football players, such as Alstott and Karney.Edited by: Ground Fighter

he lights up the room with his bright smile - for blacks

lacks explosiveness, and "classic possession reciever" for whites

Oh man, I almost forgot about those two. They're two of my favorites.

EVERY black QB is said to be "poised." "Freak" and "stud" are two other adjectives used only to describe black players.

Clutch receiver for whites who have hands of glue but rarely see the field.

Super, unreal, or incredible athlete for blacks.

Excellent blocker who can catch a pass or two out of the backfield if they need him to-every good white FB.

Won't beat you with his speed-every ultra fast white player.

Undersized-almost every white skill player.

Rambling-when a white skill player runs for a TD

Not your ideal _____________-used to describe whites at many positions

Precise route runner-almost all white wide receivers.

Deep threat-many white WRs

"He's not much of an athlete." (describing whites of course)

for blacks:

- blinding speed

- electric (one of my all-time favorites is when an announcer called Steve Smith "electricity on wheels")

- student of the game

not enough "wiggle" - just say he's white

as far as possesion reciever, I heard one of those assclowns at NFL network say "Tony Gonzalas, as soon as you see him, people think possesion reciever..."

I think from the get go we should've distinguished which euphemism applied to what race, Jaxvid. Your OP didn't make that clear.

Obviously possession receiver is up there with any of them. This is never said about black receivers with average to below average WR speed. Somebody would probably call the NAACP if they did.

But my alltime favorite is "throwback player." Always said about that really tough, mean white dude on the team, who plays thru his injuries. Indicating that white players aren't as tough as they used to be. Except for whoever it is they have labeled as "throwback."Edited by: cutty

how about "3 point specialist?" if the player is white and shoots over 35% from 3, he's a 3 point specialist. implying, he is't really good for anything else. he's a 3 point specialist, or sharpshooter.
