Farthest North?

I hate this time of year. Its dark wet dull - just isn't easy to get motivated to to anything in the evenings.
Where I live the sunset is at 3:51 and sunrise is at 08:23. It would be possible to go through the working week and only see daylightat weekends- although I make sure I get ouside during the lunch hour to see the world in daylight, plus I am a bit late geeting in some mornings.
The last few weeks have been very cloudy and dark making things even more depressing, although the whether has picked up today.
This got me thinking.We are not talking Reykjavik here. I only live in north west England, at latitude53:30 North. Is there anyone reading this living further north? Or even (very unlikely) further south?

Hello devans. Would that not be latitude, rather than longitude? In any case, perhaps you will do well to supplement with vitamin D which helps overall well being and in particular with folks living in solar challenged regions such as yours.

Here in NJ it the sun sets at 4:30pm so it's dark just before 5. The sun comes up at 7 am so we have about 10 hours of daylight. I hate this time of year. It really is depressing especially when it rains. The snow seems to cheer me up though. I have always loved snow. Can't wait till we get hit with a big snowstorm.

My wife & oldest son hate when we switch to EST & it gets dark earlier. Here in NW GA, we get some snow yearly...but it's usually not much. Like WA33, I like the snow & wish we'd get more. The last big blizzard was in 1993 (Storm of the Century) dumped 18+ inches on us. With my "polar bear" physique, I'm built for the cold anyways. As a kid, I obviously preferred summer time, but these days autumn's my favorite season (football, hunting), followed by winter.

Dixie I am guessing you rarely ever get a snow storm in Georgia. I am in the northeastern part of Jersey and we do get quite a few snowstorms but sometimes it changes to rain because we are close to the coast. In Sussex county which is about 45 miles from me they get quite a bit more snow. It's supposed to snow this weekend. I can't wait.

Your weekend snowstorm is hitting me right now.. To go to work i have to go over a mountain thats over 5000 feet.. So today it was rainy going up and a blizzard at the top!

WA33, my wife (& 3 of 4 kids) are in NY (Long Island) for a funeral (this week). They were gonna head back today, but are waiting for Sunday. We get a few snow "dustings" down here, but most snow is in NE GA (in the mountains). I wish we'd get more snow each year...not a massive blizzard, but 3-6" a few times per year.
