Good for them! It's heartening to see more people and organizations fighting back against the real forces of hate and extremism in society. An attorney friend of mine is suing the SPLC and he has a substantial case. He'll need a good jury and/or a fair judge to prevail given the stacked nature of the judicial system though.

As I predicted several weeks ago, this was an obvious hoax. I thought it was very likely a hoax from the start, but when I saw the black, former Mighty Duck (hockey movie) was Jewish it was crystal clear to me this was going to be outright fraud. Question was why? Was it just political? Was it a fight between homosexual partners, where the "victim" blamed his beating on rayciss whitey? Was it a drug deal gone bad on the streets of Chicago, where the "victim" blamed his beating on rayciss whitey?
Turns out it could be a stunt to save his job as an actor. Amazingly, it appears Chicago Police have cracked the case and it was a hoax. I'm amazed because I never thought police in such a large liberal city would ever charge a (hopefully charges are coming?) black/Jewish/homosexual celebrity for filing a false report or whatever else? I assumed they'd just stop investigating it once it became apparent this was a political hoax and let it go.

According to media reports, Chicago police spent hundreds of hours watching surveillance footage in hopes of finding the "attackers". A quick Net search shows Chicago Police make over 70k per year on average. My guess is special units detectives make considerably more. So, if police assigned one or more men to watch "hundreds of hours" of tapes this hoax might've cost taxpayers close to $100,000 just in compensation for the officers forced to scour surveillance tapes from morning to night for several days? That doesn't even take into consideration manpower lost, as police could've spent all that time tracking down "real crimes".
Hopefully this degenerate fool gets the book thrown at him and is forced to repay every penny spent on his hoax, as well is his two steroid-freak pals from Nigeria that also took part in the hoax.

I agree Heretic. Not actively calling it out for what it is and holding the appropriate parties responsible (personally, professionally and financially) only perpetuates the problem. Sitting back , being passive and hoping these type of people/ groups realize the error of their ways is not a "win" strategy. I applaud the kids, families and attorney (s) for aggressively pursuing the case. I'm hopeful that this will result in a pause to "rush to judgement" and reinforce "journalistic integrity" in the future.

Sir, as usual, I don't make myself clear. I just don't want that fine young man mixed up with the stinking lawyers in some dreary lawsuit.
As far as my being passive, there's not a passive bone in my body. This has all gone far beyond stupid lawyers talking and talking. The only thing young men these days should be thinking about is taking up a good position, setting sights on 6 o'clock bull, controlled breathing, taking up trigger slack and letting the round go at exactly the right moment - one round, one hit.
