The new thread for the 2012-2013 season. I will start with the German Bundesliga today, the Italian Serie A will probably follow tomorrow. A few explanations and notes: The categories are Whites (including all Whites, so also those from South America etc.), South Americans (Mestizos,Multiracial), Asians, Turks/Muslims*/North Africans and Blacks (including Mulattoes).
*For example a Muslim Bosnian or a convert

great job :clap2:

i knew that hoffenheim was very black, but i didn't notice that stuttgart was almost as bad

wolfsburg seems to have the most south americans, but i don't even think that they play that much, so they shouldn't be there, south americans should be stars if they come to an european club, not some unused substitute, a german player could do that for cheaper
but that problem is a lot bigger in italy, to the point that it would be great to have a separate count with the players from south american nationality
some teams have really a lot of them, catania for example
did you count diego ribas as south american?

dortmund, who won the league, seems to be pretty much the whitest team
a team with only 5 non whites on the roster is pretty rare these days

i hope that they will retain their title, but i don't think that they have enough quality players to do well both in champions league and in bundesliga
that kind of team with quality players but with a smaller budget (they have 3 times less money than bayern munchen i believe) would benefit from a calendar with first the national league, and then, once the league is finished, the champions league

i hope that we will be able to post regularly about these leagues here
i follow the spanish league more but i also like and watch the serie A

something that i also said in another thread can be seen in this racial breakdown: there are a lot of asian players, to be popular with the asian public

from your breakdown, 12 teams have at least one asian player

9 out of the 18 teams have at least 1 japanese player
here is a list of the japanese players in the german league : Takashi Inui (E. Francfort), Iroki Sakai (Hanovre 96), Takashi Usami (Hoffenheim), Hajime Hosogai (Leverkusen), Yuki Otsu (B. Mönchengladbach), Hiroshi Kiyotake (FC Nuremberg), Atsuto Uchida (Schalke 04, photo Presse-Sports), Gotoku Sakai et Shinji Okazaki (VfB Stuttgart) et Makoto Hasebe (VfL Wolfsburg)

Players such as Ji-Sung Park have enhanced the profile of the EPL across parts of Asia and now Manchester United, and a variety of other clubs, are coming out to Asia during pre-season to entertain the global audience.

In 2008, with imports such as Japanese midfielder Shinji Ono and in recent times, Shinji Kagawa, the Bundesliga has expanded its coverage and now the league is available in over 100 countries.

The popularity of European football in Asia has been greatly exaggerated. A few years ago the EPL claimed that one billion people would watch some match - Arsenal-Man United I think. An independent company called Initiative Sports Futures worked out that the real worldwide TV audience was only 8 million and I think that was mostly in Europe. It turned out that most Asians needed expensive pay TV packages to see the matches and instead the average fan just watched goal highlights on the news.

My impression is that Asians are less into football because of the sport itself than for two other reasons: 1) Fashion - they are into fads and are very conformist so if something becomes fashionable - like wearing Beckham shirts - everybody copies them; and 2) Betting - self-explanatary. I'm not saying the sport is not popular in Asia but it is nothing like what sales and marketing hucksters and league spokesmen claim it is.

I was actually quite surprised by that too, but at least their best and most important players are still white (Sven Ulreich, William Kvist, Martin Harnik)

did you count diego ribas as south american?
I think I counted him as white; however I am not 100% sure if Diego will stay in Wolfsburg, or any other player on the squad for that matter. Their coach Felix Magath really likes to buy players (hence the 40 Players on the squad) but he has also rather great problems to sell players he doesn’t want anymore. And trust me, there are many players he wants to get rid of, like Diego, Simon Kjaer, Alexander Madlung……it’s actually just a big second-rate theater with Wolfsburg.

ac milan....:icon_sad:
they are the team with the least whites in the league

once again, juventus won the league and upset the blacker teams with one of the whitest top teams in the league, pretty much like dortmund in germany

like porthos said, as roma is building a nice team
i hope they do well this season

So Campionato and Bundeslinga are heavily white dominated leagues (many South Americans have a strong % of white in them, some are even fully white).

The Spanish is very white too and English one which is the worse from the big 4 is like what 65% white maybe? Not so bad really!

Will Arend have a racial breakdown for the Greek Super League too?!

Maybe for the big 4? Panathinaikos, Olympiakos, AEK F.C. and PAOK?

Nice work, mate. :thumb:

The problem is that these numbers are a bit fluid at the moment as the transfer window shall remain open for another month. As You obviously know, the Bundesliga, for example, commences on the 24th August, while the Premier League kicks off on the 18th August so there is still plenty of time for the composition of squads to change...

By the way, (a belated) welcome to the forum...

As you're the Greek around here, how about providing such a breakdown yourself... :lightbulb:

Oh, wait, I forgot - you're banned...

I don’t really expect any major changes anymore in the Bundesliga, since almost all transfers are done and all teams are preparing for the new season right now. Bremen and Hamburg still need a playmaker; Frankfurt needs a Centre-back. The only bigger changes that will happen will be with Wolfsburg (for explanation see above). Not to mention that clubs like Schalke are pretty much broke.

ac milan is is every time more disgusting
it seems like there is a force inside the club that make them buy many players from the french ligue 1
maybe it's aubameyang's father, who works as a scout for them (his 3 sons turned pro at ac milan, and some of them are still at ac milan, but on loan to other clubs)

they don't seem to like these players as they don't play a lot (because, obviously, they are not good enough)

a great exemple was taiwo, african player with a fake birthdate, who played in marseille
nobody in france understood why taiwo was bought, because he was criticized a lot in france, and in france we have very bad defenders compared with italy
he was said to be a bad defender, physical but unskilled and unintelligent

there are also kevin constant, bakaye traore from nancy (a very bad team always mocked in france because they have only physical blacks and can't play soccer), djamel mesbah

in addition to these, there are the white french like mexes, flamini, they had gourcuff too

now they are looking for a central defender and we hear the names of mapou yanga mbiwa and sakho
they also want to buy mbaye niang a goofy striker from caen

all these players are very mediocre players from french ligue 1, nobody here understand why ac milan is interested in those

actually i know that he's the one that made gourcuff play for ac milan for example

also i forgot to add nkoulou from marseille's goofy defense to the list of "french" players rumored to go to ac milan

milan is looking for a central defender because the lost both nesta and tiago silva, and they want sakho, yanga mbiwa, or nkoulou....
how about bruno uvini?

Thanks for starting this thread and providing the breakdowns, Arend, German clubs generally do not shy away from relying on local players and tend to prioritize youth development.

Here you are:

First team members only (the reserve footballers are over 90% Greek anyway).

AEK Athens F.C.: 25 whites (24 Greeks, 1 Portuguese - Yago Fernández Prieto), 1 mestizo (naturalized Brazilian Roger Guerreiro who plays for Poland), 1 black (Ghanaian Joseph Agyriba).

Panathinaikos F.C.: 23 whites (17 Greeks, 2 Portuguese, 2 Spaniards, 1 Venezuelan, 1 New Zealander with Greek roots who represented the “Kiwisâ€￾ during the 2012 Summer Olympics – Kostas Barbarouses), 3 blacks (1 Cameroon-born French player – Jean-Alain Boumsong, 1 Ivorian, 1 Senegalese). On 31 July they won 2:0 against Scottish side Motherwell F.C. in a Champions League qualification match and their two goalscorers were Greeks.

Olympiakos F.C.: 24 whites (14 Greeks, 2 Serbians, 1 Belgian, 1 Northern Irish, 1 Hungarian, 1 white Frenchman - Francois Modesto, 1 Spaniard,1 Italian, 1 Argentine, 1 Brazilian), 2 Arabs (French-born Algerians Rafik Djebbour and Djamel Abdoun), 1 black Frenchman (Claude Dielna), 1 mulatto Brazilian (Chumbinho), 1 Romani (Kostas Mitroglou), 1 mestizo (Jose Holebas who plays for Greece, but is half-Uruguyan, we discussed his case in the Euro 2012 thread).

P.A.O.K F.C.: 18 whites (14 Greeks, 1 Albanian, 1 Romanian, 1 Frenchman - Bertrand Robert, 1 Uruguyan), 1 black (South African Bongani Khumalo), 2 mulatto Brazilians (Lino and Etto).

The roster for Atromitos F.C. (they will feature in the UEFA Europa League): 20 whites (15 Greeks, 1 German, 1 Croatian, 1 Serb, 1 Finnish player who has Kosovar Albanian heritage - Njazi Kuqi, 1 Argentine), 2 blacks (1 French-born Cameroonian – former Liverpool F.C. goalkeeper Charles Itandje, 1 Ghanaian), 1 mestizo or possibly triracial Brazilian (Luiz Eduardo Brito).

Panionios G.S.S. is probably the most homogeneous top division club with 30 Greeks and 2 Nigerians on its roster.

i remember that at one point we talked a lot about the greek league in france because they bought a lot of french players
i remember that at one point (1 or 2 seasons ago) panathinaikos had both govou, boumsong and djibril cissé
they seem to be the worst club in the league, still very good compared with other leagues

by the way the french player bertrand robert is not white, he has a french name because he's from one of those islands that france explored (reunion in his case)
people from "la reunion" look like this, for example see jeremy morel who plays for marseille
i decided to look him up because i suspected that he would be related to laurent robert, who played for newcastle, and he's his brother (i'll add him to my list of related french players )

i see that mellberg the swede does no longer play for olympiakos, it might hurt them, he was a world class player
i saw olympiakos vs marseille in champions league last season, olympiakos looked solid but the strikers were relatively toothless (it was mirallas who used to be a mediocre ligue 1 player)
these clubs that can't have the best foreign players should look in scandinavia or eastern europe instead of looking in the french league, some of these players are very good but they are underrated because they are not from a known nation
look at what miroslav stoch is doing in turkey for example http://youtu.be/PzydEy0hkrc

Man wow, thank you very much! Panathinaikos improved a lot, it became the blackest team i ever remember in Greek football some years ago. They had like 10 blacks in a roster of 23, I think in 2008-2009 season or so. Again, great job bro thanks :)

The Northern Irish player would be goalie Roy Carroll. He was involved in a famous "non-goal" controversy. Here's why goal-line technology is necessary:

in spain a cameroonian (fabrice olinga) playing for malaga became the youngest player ever to score in the spanish league, he beat muniain who had the previous record

2 things come to mind:

-poor malaga, last year they qualified for champions league but now they have big financial problems, a 16 years old cameroonian striker? they won't be very competitive this year
they are trying to sold all their best players to get money

-blacks born in africa always have fake birthdates
look at seydou doumbia, who plays in russia and is from guillou's academy in ivory coast:

Seydou-Doumbia.jpg

that's the oldest-looking 24 years old man i ever saw

the cameroonian player is from samuel etoo's academy in cameroon, the players from his academy go to spain thanks to etoo's connections

i'd also like to add that valencia's goal against real madrid came from a free kick where casillas didn't came out of his goal properly
that's his biggest weakpoint, he is vulnerable on the crosses, corner kicks and some free kicks that look like corner kicks (like the one valencia's goal came from)
that's something the real madrid fans don't like to hear because casillas is a legend, but casillas has weak points, incredible strenghts as well, he is outstanding on his line (the best in the world maybe?) but he's not the best goal keeper in the world, neueur the german and lloris the french are, in my opinion, better, because they have no weak point

Commentating on the Everton v Man United match Steve McManaman (ex-Real Madrid and Liverpool) referenced that Valencia goal. He was talking about Spanish goalies in general and De Gea in particular when he said the Casilas mistake was an example of a weakness of Spanish goalies. (De Gea has had some trouble with crosses since joining Man United).

european goalkeepers are usually the best but some countries are better at producing goalkeepers: scandinavian countries, germany, italy, france, eastern europeans
but some countries in europe have weak goalkeepers: england and probably great britain, even ireland, and spain/portugal
sometimes they have good goalkeepers but they usually have weakpoints
that's why i'm sceptical about joe hart, i want to see him more

tonight is real madrid vs barcelona! (spanish supercup)

on the real madrid team, pepe is injuried so he is replaced by a spanish defender (not a very good one but pepe isn't that good either, and atleast albiol is white and spanish!)
higuain starts instead of benzema
so real madrid should start with 2 arabs and 9 whites (5 spanish + 2 portuguese + 2 argentines)

in barcelona it seems that the chilean mestizo alexis sanchez will start instead of david villa, who came back from a big injury and scored in the first match of the season
alexis sanchez gets on my nerves, he's not very clinical in front of the goal (it cost a lot in last year's champions league)
they should start with 1 brazilian (dani alves) 1 mestizo (alexis sanchez) and 9 whites (7 local players + 2 argentines)

a lot of bad surprises: benzema instead of higuain, adriano (brazilian) instead of alba

real madrid: 8 whites and 3 arabs

barcelona: 8 whites, 2 brazilian and 1 chilean mestizo

i'm rooting for barcelona
real madrid is not playing with the best players, barcelona either, so i think that it's an unimportant match for both coatches
