I don't know about this theory, the thing that propels the NFL is gambling and pools and that has Joe Six pack by his balls every Sunday and Monday. Guys of all races and creeds love to gamble on the NFL and that's what made this league become huge.......

Don't see howgambling directly benefits the NFL financially? Certainly not more than 80k fans at 16 stadiums each Sunday spending $150 per head who also buy up the overpriced jerseys,or the advertising revenue becausethere are millions of idiots like me who continue to watch even though it pains me.

I think gambling benefits the sports books certainly, but unless the NFL receives a stipend of some sort, directly or even indirectly, I don't see it. Just my thoughts, Josh

Gambling gets the viewership up and the overall interest of the sport up. It's the same reason why baseball has slowly died or boxing. Look how popular horesracing was when that was the only legal form of gambling.

On recent depth chart reports from a FF site, I found that Drew Bennett is now listed as the #2 reciever behind David Givens and Joe Jurevicuis is #2 behind Braylon Edwards.

Only Matt Jones is still listed as his teams #1 reciever. Edited by: Kaptain Poop

Yes, and it was well-earned by Rogers.  Three+ years of injuries and being an embarrassment even to the pandering NFL.  If Rogers had the attitude and practice habits of even a sullen, lazy, total loser of a turd he'd still be with Detroit.  But he's worse than that.  How many of the white football players we discuss don't get an opportunity because they share the same attributes as Rogers?

Schikelgruber, the question you asked was discussed a little bit earlier in this thread.  The only answer right now is to make more people aware of the problem.  When that number hits a certain critical mass (and I'm not talking about the mythical "majority" that supposedly runs democracies, far less than that is needed), then we'll begin to see challenges to the Caste System at different levels and by different methods.  Right now, Caste Football is the only opposition.  We've only been around a short time but we're a harbinger of what's to come.  We need to welcome the challenge and be motivated knowing that we're part of the solution.  We're also fortunate to be able to see what's going on.  What would you rather be -- aware of the truth no matter how painful and demoralizing it is at times, or just another one of the blind and deaf lemmings?  It's a gift to be able to see the light in times of darkness.<!-- Message ''"" -->

Your struggle is my struggle, brother. Our people need locker rooms.

We have an explanation from Payton on the release of Hass and Horn. It's still fishy that in the first preseason game Hass got an opportunity and performed well, making one outstanding grab in a crowd. Then he virtually vanished, including no playing time the following week. If the Saints were trying to sneak him onto the practice squad, it sure backfired.

The real reason Hass was released???

Payton is an idiot.

You cut great wide receivers because you don't think they can play on special teams?? wtf??

When was the last time you saw any of a team's starting wide receiver corps running down the field on a kick off? Did you ever see Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, Steve Smith, Chad Johnson, Keyshawn Johnson, or even Joe Horn covering a punt?

This guy is sinking his offense so he can have a few mediocre wide receivers available to play special teams.

The Saints are going to be the 'Aints again. I'll be surprised to see them win four games this year.

Idiot.

How aboutthese two paragraphs from an article on why Jerry Porter is still in the "doghouse" in Oakland even after Doug Gabriel was traded to New England:

Why did the Raiders trade Doug Gabriel, one of their better downfield receivers, to the New England Patriots in exchange for fifth-round draft pick in 2007? Don't assume it's because Jerry Porter, with his thought-provoking "middle finger" T-shirt and reluctance to get on board with new coach Art Shell, is back in good graces with the Raiders' organization.

Quite simply, the Raiders looked at Gabriel and realized he was a player who was inconsistent on the field, dropping more passes than he caught, and someone who was a little more self-important than he deserved to be.

Dropping more passes than he caught??? Dropping more passes than he caught!!! And with the best quarterbacks around throwing to him yet. How can anyone with hands that bad even get to play receiver in high school and college much less get year after year of opportunity in the NFL?And yetGabriel was filled with "self-importance." I'd be filled with shame if I couldn't catch even half the passes thrown to me.

And now he's off to the Patriots, to get yet another opportunity to develop those chronically undevelopablehands of stone. . . And Gabriel's hardly unique among what is supposed to be a fraternity of the very best pass catchers in the U.S. Black receivers with good hands are the exception not the rule.

Draft Daddy's recent update of their list of 12 best available wide receivers (either free agents or practice squad players) includes 4 white guys, even though Mike Hass was absent from the list because they didn't include any rookies:

Chase Lyman ~ Imagine missing most of your college career due to a string of serious knee injuries, but having the size (6' 3"), speed (4.45) and hands to still be a 4th round pick? Unfortunately for Lyman, he also missed his rookie season (2005) with another serious knee injury. But he's back and healthy and currently on New Orleans' practice squad. Might be the most intriguing prospect on any practice squad, but he just needs to prove he can stay healthy.

Marc Boerigter ~ As recently as the summer of 2004, he was seriously vying for a starting spot in Kansas City, until a major knee injury knocked him backwards. Came back and made the Chiefs in 2005 as a role player, but was sent packing by K.C.'s new coaching staff last spring. Good size and speed, so he might get more chances in the N.F.L. If Boe doesn't get a chance by the end of the season, he may return to the C.F.L., where he was young superstar for Calgary coming out of Hastings College.

Brad Pyatt ~ At one point, Pyatt looked like a rising star as a return specialist for the Colts -- was among the N.F.L.'s leaders in kick and punt return average as a rookie until he suffered a neck injury in a game at Miami. Since then, he's been out football the last 2 seasons due to reasons we don't fully understand (minor injuries?). Possesses great speed (sub 4.4), and good balance, vision and strength as a returner. Is also coming off a very solid preseason for the Rams -- as a returner and receiver. But again, will he ever get another shot in real games? We think he sure deserves it.

Chas Gessner ~ Some Jets fans dubbed this former Ivy League Lacrosse star "Mr. August". The last 3 preseason's, various coaches around the N.F.L. have lauded Gessner's size, stamina and leaping ability during the summer months. However, when the regular season starts, the former N.F.L. Europe star is usually no where to be found. Really impressed Tampa's coaches this summer, but again fell victim to the numbers game. If he ever gets a shot, could be valuable player in the mold of Brian Finneran.

as usual, Draft Daddy does a superb job of evaluating talent, regardless of skin color. isn't it ridiculous that no team would offer Gessner a job? Brian Finneran was the best receiver the Falcons have had for about four years, so why wouldn't a team give his clone a chance? Boerigter has shown his ability yet no one is interested. how can this be? Pyatt is one of the best return men in the NFL, yet he's out of football completely? WTF? and Lyman, a big-play waiting to happen, can't even get a shot now that he's healthy. why not offer him the league minimum and see what happens? what could it hurt? jeez!

This is from nflplayers.com about Boerigter. Jeez is right Jimmy Chitwood. Seems like he just can't help but average 20 yards a catch(at any level of football) if someone will just throw him the damn ball! I loathe Dick Vermeil.

Caught 20 passes for 420 yards (21.0 avg.) with a team-high eight TD receptions ... Became just the eighth player in Chiefs history to catch eight or more TDs in a single season and was the initial player to do it in his first season with the club ... Scored on 40.0 percent of his receptions (eight of 20), the best single-season TD-catch percentage in KC history ... That 40.0 TD-catch percentage tied for third in NFL annals with Bucky Pope (10 TDs on 25 catches with the L.A. Rams - '64) among players with at least 20 catches. Only Frank Liebel's 45.5 mark (10 TDs on 22 catches with the N.Y. Giants - '45) and Ken Kavanaugh's 40.6 percentage (13 TDs on 32 catches with the Chicago Bears - '47) ranked higher

2001 (CFL): Saw duty in 18 games for Calgary ... Caught 48 passes for 931 yards (19.4 avg.) with a team-high 11 TDs

Saw duty in 35 games at Hastings College, an NAIA school in Hastings, Nebraska ... Caught 93 passes for 1,902 yards (20.5 avg.) for a school record 30 touchdowns ... His 20.5 receiving avg. is the top mark in team annals

Well, Rod Gardner just signed with about his tenth team in the past four years, and there's still great talent like Todd Pinkston and Charles Rogers out there.

In all seriousness, the wide receiver position is quite weak on many NFL teams. This is because almost noneof the large pool of white talentat the position isutilized, but it also tells me that even in football the black talent pool may be shrinking, as it has in baseball, boxing, and in basketball to some extent. There just may not be as many good black athletes as there used to be, possibly because of the seemingly ever growing rates of dysfunction and self-destruction among the ghetto blacks so beloved by Caste System scouts and recruiters. If that's the case, whites will at some point begin to fill in the vacuum, whether by the Caste System finally giving more of them an opportunity, or bywhites finallydemandinga fair chance.

Oh, that Terrence Copper. It's all clear now. NOT!

What makes the situation in New Orleans somewhat tolerable after the WR debacle is the defense. Brian Young, Scott Fujita, Scott Shanle, and Mark Simoneau are starting and were solid Sunday. Brian Young had three sacks and Fujita had a pick. Rob Ninkovich got some playing time, he is fun too watch. He is an absolute ball hawk.

Harry Edwards talked about this(not that he is friend to this site). I also think the reason why you are seeing more whites achieving more athletically could be because of the echo effect from the baby boomers. You have a demorgraphic bubble where more young white youth around and they are willing to run in the sprints, etc. Also I have a theory that as the middle classes have more whites have been shunted to the working classes and below that(historically the life blood of sports). Social scientists have been talking about the slow death of the lower middle classes and this could be sign of that too...

Seems to me the lower middle class is growing. The actual middle class is being compressed and is going one way or the other. I know plenty of people who used to be able to afford vacations and new cars etc. but now cant. The stats may be against me, but I have to give some creedence to what I see happening around me.

Hey guys, Jim Leonhard has been signed after Troy Vincent went on IR. Hopefully he will get his chance to make an impact due to the inexperience at the position and this ballhawk from Wisconsin can get some INT's and become a playmaker. He is one guy I am excited about and I think he can do great things if given the chance.

I don't know about the website rankings, but I was the 51'st poster to register on January 9, 2005. I think there were 200 odd posters last year about this time.

Don you are voicing something that has been in the back of my mind for awhile. Some of the current NFL recieving corps just suck. Look at the Chiefs or Eagles of the last few years (Chiefs being bailed out by having TE Tony Gonzalez as a target).

During the 1990s the Run and Shoot (with four recievers on the field) was being used by alot of teams (Lions, Falcons, Bills) but its use has died out. Did the lowering of (black) WR quality contribute to the death of the Run and Shoot in the NFL?!?!?!?!?

So many of the blacks who go in the early rounds of the draft are "projects" of one kind or another or have underwhelming stats. That's one reason why so many turn out to be busts.

Speaking of busts and bad receivers, the Broncos are close to signing Quincy Morgan, who has stunk up the joint with numerous teams, but like so many of these guys keeps getting yet another chance. According to the wire report I read, DenverwantsMorgan as a kick returner and backup receiver. Isn't that David Kircus's position with the team? Kircus didn't have a single reception in Week 1. Don't be surprised if . . . you know what happens. . .

Speaking of the Broncos, I say a guy on the road today who was wearing an Ed McCaffrey jersey. Denver is the big pro team around here.

The Detroit Lions have signed Az Hakim. It's the end of Mike Furrey's short stint as a slot receiver for Detroit. Hakim was with the Lions before, he has HORRIBLE hands and the fans on the sports boards and talk show HATED him. Now they all think he's the second coming and is going to rescue the teams offense. White fans never disappoint when it comes to disappointing.

It seems like the quickest way for a white reciever to be replaced by the NFLs "real" recievers and find his way back to the bench or get cut from the team altogether is to have a good performance(s) (see Mike Furrey above, Patrick Jeffers, Mark Boerigter etc etc).

Zach Hilton's story is no different. Last year he was one of the most productive TEs in football the final 8 games of the season - starting only 6 of them. In the final 8 games he lead the Saints recieving core with 32 receptions! That's the Arron Brooks lead Saints no less! The guy is 6'8" and in his fourth year he finally got a chance to prove he can play. One would think any NFL team would be drooling to have young 6'8" proven talent like Hilton on their team. No sirree, Hilton was cut by the Saints in the preseason and then picked up by the Jets. They even fooled the jock-sniffing fantasy football sites. Now it looks like he will take the route of all the other white proven talent and be bounced around the league before disappearing for good. This just in from FF update:

Zach Hilton, TE NYJ

News: The Jets released TE Zachary Hilton on Saturday.

Analysis: That's the second team that's released him in the past month. So much for his sleeper TE value. He may re-sign with some other team, or even the Jets, but should be ignored until then.
