In the videos you could see he had a comfortable heat and not over exerting himself. The heat and final was only an hour and 10 minutes apart.

His reaction after the 10.05 was priceless.

Emile ran Copenhagen won his heat and cruised with 10.20. Won the final 10.05 unfortunately the wind was illegal +2.1.

He is coming back to South Africa on Saturday to do his USA visa.

Well done, he easily won the race and was fluid. The wind reading is too bad but he would have been 10.05 with a 2.0w also....If the South African team selectors have a brain he will be on the team in both the 4x400m and the 100m.

and females complain they are forced to wear skimpy sprint shorts lolol....95% of the women who wear sprint shorts wear them as skimpy as possible and flaunt it whenever they can...especially long jumpers..lol

Great video. Emile Erasmus literally exploded out of the blocks. He only made 1 small mistake in my opinion. He almost crossed the line early in the race as he went quite a bit sideways. He was literally running so fast that it was hard to stay in the
middle of the lane. Emile controlled it and stayed in his lane the whole way. I've never seen him so happy after a race. Wish we had audio
but we are still very thankful just to get to watch both races. Nazarov is gonna be good once he gets stronger. The guy ran 6'50's indoors and he is built like marathon runner. Lol.

That brunette was a stunner. The blonde interviewing Emile also was very pretty. Congrats to Emile. What a couple of races. Amazing performaces by him!

I am working on videos with sound and will post them as soon as I can. None is available on youtube and the one's I found are embedded videos. Working on my screen recorder to get sound as well.

His coach identified a few issues which they will work on until he leaves for the US. His coach will try to arrange a meeting before he leaves. If this can happen they will run in Pretoria where our elevation is 1400m. Emile is returning to South Africa tomorrow to get his USA visa processed. He will be in South Africa for 3 weeks before they leave for Eugene.

The issue is that a country may only take 3 sprinters. South Africa has 3 that qualified on time. Akani Simbine 9.84, Gift Lotlela 10.03 and Clarence Munyai 10.04. Emile is the next inline as a world ranking quota athlete. Clarence is primarily a 200m athlete and will be selected for his strongest event, whether he will be selected as a 100m athlete as well who knows. Gift is totally out of sorts. He has done 9 races so far this year with only 1 under 10.30 which was a 10.22. We are hoping that Emile will get his spot.

For a guy that is 6'4" and weighs 220 pounds that is an amazing start!!

No competitions in South Africa at the moment. Winter in the southern hemisphere. Emile is training everyday just sharpening all the small hickups. He is in excellent shape.

Athletics South Africa announced the team for Eugene today. Emile made the 4x100. We have 5 sprinters that qualified for the 100m. Three on time with Emile and Henricho Bruintjies on world ranking.

They will be leaving South Africa on July 10 for Eugene.

I'm very happy he is on the team. It's just sad he can't run in the individual 100 meters at the World Championships. At least he is an atlternate. Sprinters do get hurt sometimes. I'm not wishing that on anyone but if it happens he may
still get his shot in his main event. I do think that the S.A. 4 x 100 Relay Squad has a good chance to make the finals and possibly the medal stand. Your team is very talented. Just need clean baton passes and smoothly. Good luck to

I don't think I ever have commented on this thread but your son is what track and field is all about. Hard work and dedication and chasing your dream. I wish him all the best as he clearly wants it badly or he would have quit track years ago.

PS, the lack of funding and sponsorship for track athletes on the fringes of the elite runners, throwers and jumpers is the reason why track and field doesn't have much depth beyond the top 10 in various events if the competitors aren't from 3rd world to 4th world countries as we have had thread after thread about various athletes quitting the sport because of money issues. I wish this would change but I don't think it will...

He still lives with me and makes his budget running the European circuit he and coaches kids up to 13 years at a local school and this helps a bit.. He is ranked in the top 100 in the world and only scrapes by. He still studies as well and will finish his engineering degree in 2 years.

He has some help from Athletics South Africa who pays his flights to Europe and the province, state in USA, he represents helps with accommodation costs. He does not have a shoe contract but at least Nike provides him with kit.

South Africa is a relatively cheap country to live in and his yearly budget is around $30 000-00.

Yes similar to boxing a top 40 runner is just scratching by on living expenses. Also when people take into account what a Western lifestyle costs in 3rd world countries it's not much less than it is in Western countries. Essentially people living in the townships are living in homeless encampments. Looking at the pictures it resembles Hooverville encampments of the 1930's that sprung up on the fringes of major cities during the Great Depression.

We do not have holidays now and we are in winter, pretty damn cold at the moment. They will be leaving South Africa next week Monday.

The same goes for Aussieland and NZ. I live in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia Canada and so many people are shocked by our weather here Mostly dry, hot summers(average 34-7c), great Autumns, brief Spring season and mid cold to cold cold Winters but not like Buffalo NY winters lol

We are in winter and no breaks until December. Damn cold at the moment.

We normally have moderate winters with day temps at about 68 but mornings can drop to 23. No rain in winter though

We have sub tropical weather we can grow bananas, avocados and any citrus. Massive thunderstorms in summer normally between 4pm and 6pm with lots of rain temps around 33 to 37 but can go into the 40's. Snow only once in the past 60 years but we do get some frost in winter.

We do not have wind as a rule only during storms and in the beginning of spring in August.
