Caleb Campbell has pulled himself out of the game due to a slight hamstring injury. he says it's more important to get ready to run for the NFL scouts than to potentially make it worse in this game. a smart move, i think.

also, on the West roster, safety Dylan Barker is a big, rangey safety at 6-4, 200 pounds. he's from Saskatchewan. here is his bio.

On a negative note, not even 5 minutes into the game the one white announcer (the other 2 are black, one of whomis Andre Ware) has already recited the typical Caste cliches, this time about Jamie Silva. "Well, he's not the fastest guy or the most athletic, but he has a sense for the game".


Sense for the game? Silva just knocked some sense into the opposing receiver with a nice hit on a play near the sideline. Honestly, this white announcer (Todd McShay, I believe) seems to find it his duty to putwhites in their place. He's going out of his way to pretty much say that blacks are superior athletes so he can kiss Andre Ware's butt. It's ridiculous.


The black announcers are saying more positive things about Silva, like the fact that he finished 3rdin voting for the Thorpe Award. They were even talking about how Vermeil really likedthe way Silva played all week.

Jared, you beat me to it. This McShay guy is a tool. He doesn't even try to hide his prejudiced views towards whites. I agree, there are a lot of horrific white pro-Caste announcers, but from what I've seen thus far, McShay is the worst I've seen.


He's in for a treat tonight though, there are a bunch of white players on these rosters who will be bringing their 'A' game. Let's see how he reacts as the game progresses.

The coaches really need to give Adam Ballard some carries this evening. From what I've heard out of Annapolis the last two years, he had the skills to be a better college back than Kyle Eckel, but just never put it together.


I give whoever made the selections for this game credit for inviting Ballard in, as he really didn't have a noteworthy senior season. Hopefully, he's been opening some eyes this past week and will make a few plays tonight.


I am happy with the number of service academy players who were invited to this game, as well as the players from Canada. I'm really looking forward to watching Samuel Giguere (WR) and Dylan Barker (Safety) play.

thus far, Jamie Silva is clearly the best player on the field. he has 7 tackles going into the 4th quarter.

Kevin O'Connell looks like Matt Jones, to me. he is an erratic thrower, but an excellent runner. maybe he will change positions at the next level if he runs well at the Combine?

i also like Paul Smith from Tulsa. he looks like a good quarterback, to me.

Dylan Barker has had one pass thrown his way in the deep middle of the field, and he closed on it nicely and broke it up.

Todd Blythe has had 2 balls thrown his way. one he caught for a first down, and another hit him in the feet. he also had a good block on a touchdown run.

Samuel Giguere caught a 15-yard pass and didn't even have his name mentioned. then later, he dropped a difficult pass that was behind him.

which brings up the problems that have been on display in this game... dropped passes! there have been nearly as many drops as catches. these negro "receivers" simply can't receive.

also, there was a punt return when the returner ran backwards at least 15 yards before managing to re-gain some of them. he lost 6 on the return, but it was simply ridiculous.

the white d-linemen from the West have completely shut down the running game of the East. Jesse Nading looks like he is in the backfield on nearly every play.

Silva just got beat for a touchdown on a nice pass by the West's black quarterback. first time all night that he's been beaten.

The coverage of Giguere's catch really agitates me. The man makes a nice catch and actually, Todd McShay begins talking about his background (being from Canada and what not) for about 2-3 seconds and is then immediately cut off by a pre-arranged feature on a black Georgia running back. This is followed by all 3 announcers praising the talents of this Georgia back for another minute or so, and then on the next play the same running back drops a 5 yard pass near the end zonethat the East team needed to help get back in the game.


The only players (aside from the white QBs Jimmy mentioned) who are getting attention from these 'expert' announcers are black. What does Andre Ware know about the NFL? The guy was a huge bust and now he's proceeding to annoint the black QB out of San Diego, Josh Johnson, as the NFL's next QB phenom. Ware goes out of his way to point out that Johnson is far more than just a runner, he has superior passing skills.


At the time, he had completed 3 of his 8 pass attempts. But Jimmy is right, these black receivers are dropping balls at levels even higher than they normally do. Todd Blythe possesses great hands and should have been thrown to far more than 2 times.


Our guys aren't getting a chance. Silva is the only man with significant playing time.


Who cares anyway? We'll see what happens at the Combine and the various Pro Days which will be taking place over the next several months.

The game was kind of dull to watch. Dropped passes galore with Todd McShay chiming in every 5 minutes to remind me that Jamie Silva "isn't fast or athletic, but he is a football player". No kidding, he said that in some form at least 5 times during the game. The white DL had a good night from what I could see. LB's didn't really stand out to me. Silva was great, nobody else really stood out.

That's funny you mention Bernard Morris, Riddlewire. During the telecast, they had Dick Vermeil miked up on the sideline, and he was talking to Morris. Morris kept saying "It's cold, my hands are numb". Andre Ware was pretty much like "that's not what you need to be saying to a head coach in an All Star game with hundreds of scouts around".Even Ware was like, "what's this guy doing, saying stupid things right before he is about to go in to play QB". Rather humorous.


Regarding Morris,the football powers that be have some sort of odd affection for black QBs out of Marshall.


Paul Smith looked far better, the announcers compared him to Jeff Garcia.I can see why they would say that based on the fact that they are of similar size. But, I've seen Smith play several times andI would honestlycompare him toa shorter version of Tom Brady.He's fundamentally sound, cool under pressure, possesses above average arm strength, and throws with pinpoint accuracy. The son of a high school coach, football means everything to Smith.A smartNFL personnel man will gobble him up in the draft.


Jimmy talked aboutQB Kevin O'Connell (San Diego State). He's listed at 6'6", 235 pounds.He didn't look good as a passer, very inaccurate. But, he displayed very good speed and elusiveness as a runner. Plus, he's tough. Eventhough it was an All Star game, there wasa good amount of hitting and jawing (black DB Jonathan Hefney from Tennessee was going after a number of white players after the whistle) going on. O'Connell, on a number of occasions, took on opposing defenders instead of sliding or going out of bounds.I don't know enough about him at this point to speculate what position he may play in the NFL.

Reclaimsocal, Nick Hayden looked better than the other3 defensive tackles on the East roster. At 6'5", 301 pounds he was the biggest defensive lineman on the East squad. He took on blockers and made several nice plays. He didn't get much face time or attention from the announcers, but he played a decent amount.


He did a lot this week to help his draft stock rise.

Not seeing Ballard get any carries was very disappointing. You would think a guy like him, who will most likely be in <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><ST1:COUNTRY-REGIoN w:st="on"><ST1LACE w:st="on">Iraq</ST1LACE></ST1:COUNTRY-REGIoN> this time next year (he branched Marine Corps Ground) could at least get a few carries at the end of the game. He's never been the same since breaking his leg in 2006, but if not for being supplanted by a VERY good runner in Eric Kettani he would have had a 1000 yard season. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><O></O>


The problem with McShay is not only his obvious stereotypes, buthis continued proliferation of unrealistic expectations for skill position players. We are ata point where we should no longer accept cliches from scouts, regardless of race. That means no more "he's just a football player" explanations. What the hell does that mean anyway? Considering these "scouts" are being paid for a job most people would love to have, they may as well do it with at least a semblance of precession and stop falling back on ambiguity. When I hear McShay talk about a guy lacking "top-end speed" I feel like pulling my hair out. There are maybe 4-5 guys in a draft class with that kind of speed, and 3 of them will never make an impact in the NFL. The way you hear scouts talk about it, you'd think everyone in the NFL runs a 4.5 and everyone who wants to play in it needs to run the same. This is simply not true. Overall, there is too much made about "speed" (itself an ambiguous term) in scouting, and although many players end up getting discriminated based on it, it certainly seems that Caucasian players have taken the brunt. <O></O>

They are paid to say something so they just go off on cliche's. No one grades the scounting services (that would be a good thing for castefootball to do when we have the resources) so they are never wrong, especially if they give mixed reviews with generic comments that frequently contradict what they are saying. It's like writing horoscopes, no one really cares if they are right, and they are written generc enough so there is some "right" in all of them. I pay them no heed whatsoever.

That's why ESPN hired the guy. He fits right in with their views of all white football players being in the Rudy mold of overachievers who are just football players and not exactly great athletes. What a contradicting point of view to hold. That you can be a good football player but at the same time be a crappy athlete. This is some confusing ass stuff

Wow this McShay guy is an ass. That could fit right in with my caste lines of the year thread that I am organizing for writing my book on the caste system. Silva "isn't fast or athletic, but he's a football player" "well he's not the fastest or most athletic, but he has a sense for the game"...etc. etc. He could have just said it once, but felt the need to malign Silva five times during the broadcast. I haven't heard broadcasters put down Anquan Boldin or Ernest Wilford in the NFL for being a poor athlete at WR and they are extremely slow for the position as opposed to Silva for his position.
