Looking at the stats looks like both chad johnson and bennett have 1161 yards that would put them at a tie for the lead in the afc, and looks likehe is about 60 yards behind joe horn and 4th overall. He is also now top 5 in receptions and tds, It will be interesting to see if he gets all-pro and pro-bowl recognition,Edited by: cxt7

If volek stays the quarterback he has a shot. Consider that the media wanted him benched earlier this season and that he maybe would have been anyway if calico was heathy. He would have been like brian finneran in Atlanta this season.

What a incredible game but a outstanding wide receiver.Drew Bennett is as good as anyone. He
had 163 yards and 2 touchdowns.If he doesn't make
the Pro Bowl, then I will not even bother watching
it.It would be incredible if so how he came out of
no where and leads the NFL in receiving yards.Don't
count him out just yet.T.O. didn't play much today with
the injury and Horn can be caught.Go Bennett!

It's official.I just checked the NFL.com website.Drew is now leading the AFC with 1171 yards receiving. He is also
6th in the whole NFL and with 2 more big games just might
win the title outright.Man would that be great. If nothing else,I hope that he can finish first in the AFC
and get the respect he deserves from the median & fans.
He has to make the Pro Bowl.We shall see.

This is the best thing to happen to white WRs in the NFL. A white guy leads the pack and now he is getting some air time and lets hope a Pro Bowl start. We also have to stop and think if McNair wouldnt have went down would Bennett be having as good as season as he is having? I dont know but he has 25 catches in the last 2 games so that tells us something... McNair had to be holding back on Bennett so next year if Mcnair is still there he will have to throw the ball to Bennett or questions will be asked about the NFL allowing white WRs to be wasted talent and discriminated against. So either way it helps alot of white guys in the NFL.

They have a fan poll on NFL.com and they asked fans who
was the most deserving player to not make the Pro Bowl?
Drew Bennett finished 2nd to last out of 6 players. It
just goes to show how stupid most white fans & fans in
general are.I would be willing to bet that most of them
have no idea, that he's leading the AFC in Receiving. What
games are these people watching.Drew is the man!

I was shocked that he was on the "Budweiser Hot
Seat" interview on Sportscenter yesterday. I didn't
think a white wide receiver was eligible for such a
great honor! I'm being facetious of course, but it was
surprising. I guess it goes to show that a white
player has to be twice as good as a black player to
get half the attention. Much lesser black players get
stuff like that before much better white players do.

A black sports center anchor ,whose name escapes me, said, "Drew Bennett is sick!!!" in a positive way.

I don't know the name because I do not watch Sports Center that often.

However, it goes to show that not all blacks promote the caste system, and many caste-system proponents are probably white..

Although, when any player is this good it is tough not to make that kind of statement.

If he has a couple more of these years, teams will look whiter.

That was Stuart Scott. We've talked quite a bit about
the surprising number of black commentators,
analysts, etc., that say positive things about white
athletes. They probably don't feel threatened by the
occasional white athletic playmaker like Stokely,
Bennett, Kirilenko in the NBA, etc. I wonder how they
would feel if there were several white wide receivers
routinely putting up numbers similar to Bennett's.
What if five of the top ten WR's were white? It'd be
interesting to see their reaction.

However, it goes to show that not all blacks
promote the caste system, and many caste-system
proponents are probably white.

No probably about it! The vast majority of coaches,
general managers, jerks in the media, the recruiting
services, and the fans that disrespect white athletes
are white. They're the problem. When white
coaches and others get their heads out of their
a*ses and give our athletes a level playing field (or at
least much closer to it), then- and only then- will this
problem be corrected. It is in the power of white men
to stop this.

Remember too that these guys, on Sports Center and other similar shows, are reading from a script, albeit it one that allows them a certain amount of individuality, such as Stuart Scott saying "Booyah" and "sick." They don't ad lib or write the shows, the material is prepared for them to read off a teleprompter. I wouldn't read too much into what Scott said about Bennett, as Bennett's game was going to be acknowledged in some way by whatever announcer happened to be on air during that particular Sports Center.

I totally agree JD074.Blacks don't feel threatened when you only have an occasional white guy doing things or if they play a secondary role but if the white guy is in a primary role,Look-out.Blacks wil say the guy is not this and not that and eventually the word racism will come out. This will happen with Dirk Nowitzki, it is currently happening with Vitaly Klitschko and it will happen to other whites who take a starring role in a black-dominated area because that is infringing on their turf and that ain't right.I thing this is true in all apects of life where there a high-percentage of blacks.Do you see a lot of black faces at a Marshall Mathers concert?

Hey guys, dont forget to watch the Titans/Broncos game tonight on national tv.I expect Volek and Bennett to put
on another aerial show that will rival the Thunderbirds!
lol.One of my christmas wishes is to see Bennett come from out of no where and lead the whole NFL in receiving.
What a statement that would be!Go Titanss & Bennett.

What a painful game to watch. The Titans game plan didn't appear to involve much of Bennett. Volek and johnson rarely seemed to look his way. It didn't help that Antowan Smith looked like he was running half the speed of smell.

Denver has a very good defense, though it hadn't played well of late. They had to win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Tennessee's o-line has been battered by injuries and the team is long out of the playoff picture. The Titans couldn't contain Denver's pass rush at all. It added up to a dominant performance by the Broncos. Bennett dropped one pass that he might have taken in for a score, and slipped on another long pass in the second half that would have been a 40-yard reception. It was just one of those games.

Great pics guys! I really hope he goes out with a huge
game this Sunday. It would have been so nice to see him
in the playoffs too.Maybe with any luck, someone will give
up their spot & not want to go to the Pro Bowl.Drew
deserves to go.I hope he builds off his sucess and if
McNair comes back, then he realizes that Drew is not
utilized nearly enough.Other than injuries, there is no
reason he shouldn't catch over 1000 yards every year.
Bennett is that good.

Bennett just blew by Lions cornerback Chris Cash for a 32 yard TD catch. Sweet! (and I'm a Lions fan)

David Kircus got his second catch of the year (his first and only was that fancy high steppin' TD early in the year that must have scared the caste system so much he never saw the field again) and Cory Schleschinger caught a TD pass too.

Volek had Berlin open deep but missed him.

Drew Bennett finished 2nd in the whole AFC in receiving yards. He lost to C Johnson of the Bengals by only 10 yards. What a season when at the 1/2 way point,it looked
like he was going to have a bad year.He has proven he
belongs and scared the heck out of any cb in the league
who had to try and cover him.I can't wait for next year.
Just imagine if he would have started off strong. He would
have blown everyone away.Like Donwas said,it's too bad
Volek wasn't the qb the whole year.Congrats on a great
season. He is a top 5 receiver in the NFL!

Just a quick note about Bennett last game on Sunday. He
was only thrown to twice and still had 50 yards and a
touchdown. One of the biggest reasons is that the Titans
will trying to run the ball more to protect Volek. He has
a separated shoulder that happened 2 weeks ago.Being the
last game, and no playoffs, they didn't want him to make
the injury worse. He is supposed to have surgery on it soon to repair the damage.I wish him a speedy recovery.
The sad thing is that Bennett had a chance with a big
game to lead the whole NFL in receiving. If only Volek
was healthy or anyone who could have gotten him the ball
more.He truley can be another Moss.He is almost impossible to cover. His speed, size, and power are scary.
I would have loved to see him have been the best receiver
in the NFL.Either way,I congratulate him on a great season.

I think we have to consider the possibility that once Drew bennett took the AFC yardage lead over and started to get some notice a couple weeks ago, jealousy crept in and the game plan changed. Derrick Mason and Ben Troupe had many more balls thrown their way the last two games. It didn't look like volek was looking bennetts way the last two games. Hard to believe that throwing to bennett wouldn't be the game plan after 3 spectacular games in a row - the last one with him catching 13 passes. It happened to stokely when harrison and wayne started whining. What would happen if either of these guys were the number one option on their team?

I agree. Part of it was that Volek wasn't getting enough protection to get passes off, but he did suddenly start throwing more to Troupe short and to Mason as the deep threat more than Bennett. In Indy, Stokley will always have to play second fiddle to Harrison until Harrison retires. In Tennessee, will Bennett have to play second fiddle to Mason next year? Bennett to me is now just as good as Randy Moss, running routes all over the field and nobody can cover him deep, not even two defenders. Mason is a reliable option, but he's small and more of a possession receiver. Bennett is a stud. What oh what will the NFL do with him now? Let him be the star that he is, or screw him. Tune into the next edition of "As the NFL's Stomach Turns."

Unfortunately, he didn't get a chance to play against
most of the best pass defenses this year. In fact, if
the list that I'm looking at is correct, he only played
two of the top ten pass defenses this year (Miami
and Denver). I believe he injured his ribs in the
game against Miami (correct me if I'm wrong) and
only got 15 yards. His best shot was against
Denver, and as Don pointed out, if not for a couple of
mistakes he would've had a good game.

Four of his 100+ yard games were against San
Diego, Indianapolis, Oakland, and Kansas City,
which were four out of the five worst pass defenses.
The other one was Chicago, which was in the
middle of the pack.

It would also be cool to see him beat some
respected cornerbacks. Imagine if he was covered
by Champ Bailey and he got 150+ yards and three
TD's.

I was looking at the seven players who had more receiving
yards than Drew, and like Drew, they mostly beat up bad
defenses. The most notable exception is Chad Johnson, who
had 99+ yards against Denver, Cleveland, and twice against
Baltimore, all ranked in the top 10 in pass defense according to
ESPN (also NY Jets, ranked 14th). So it may be unrealistic to
want him to overpower the best teams- when he actually gets
the chance to play them, which was a rarity for him this year.
He only played against two teams in the top 15!

The main thing is receptions. The six wide receivers who had
more receiving yards than Bennett averaged over 92
receptions (including Gonzalez, it's well over 93 receptions).
Bennett only had 80. Hypothetically (and it is purely
hypothetical), if Bennett had 12 more receptions, and only
averaged 15 yards per catch for those 12 receptions (on top of
his just under 15.6 average for his 80 receptions), Bennett
would've had 1427 yards, which would've put him number one
in the league. (Of course there are other receivers who had a
15.6 average or higher, like Terrell Owens, Reggie Wayne,
Jimmy Smith, etc.)

A lot of things have to fall in place for him to lead the league in
yards in the future, but weirder things have happened:

Good QB situation: whether McNair or Volek, somebody has to
deliver him the ball with intelligence and accuracy
Consistency: he has to catch a lot of balls, simple as that
Big plays: like this year, catch a lot of big passes
Favorable schedule: He had that this year
Health: Needs no explanation

A couple of interesting comparisons:

Terrell Owens: 77 receptions, 1200 yards, 15.6 average
Bennett: 80 receptions, 1247 yards, 15.6 average
(How similar is that?! Owens did have three more TDs
though.)

And Bennett's teammate, Mason, 96/ 1168, 12.2 average

I wasn't aware of that. That is incredible that he still
finished 2nd in the whole AFC even though he only
played in 14 games. He would have led the whole NFL
easily if not for the injury.Wow,what a season for Drew!
