Dadgum! IMO, Dirk's the best player in the YO.B.A...ahead of Nash, "Queen Lebrown" James & YObe Bryant.

Dirk leads Dallas to a decisive 83-77 win over potential 1st round opponent Portland. Dallas hasn't played well vs. Portland all season, and I've gotta bad feeling Portland might hand Dallas a 2007-like first round exit. Regardless, great win by Dallas, and a TITANIC performance by Nowitzki!!!

Don't ever count the Mavs out as long as Dirk can breath. The guy is an all time legend. Very close to Bird in my opinion. He just doesn't have the talent around him like McHale, Parrish and Ainge.

Dirk is incredible. I will have to frame his jersey someday and put it up on the wall. I will tell future generations how good he was. What a performance. Every time we think he has done it all, he goes and tops himself. Congrats to Dirk. Come on Mavs. Beat the LaLa Boys and make the finals. Kobe is old news! It's all about Dirk!

Instead of Captain Kirk, how about Captain Dirk?

Captain Dirk does it two nights in a row! Dirk Nowitzki scored 39 points on national tv tonight! The Mavs won going away from the Kings. Anyone who thinks Dirk isn't ready for the playoffs is badly mistaken. I can't wait. He is playing like a MVP at the moment and I like Dallas & their chances in the playoffs.

Long Live King Dirk!

39.5 ppg in his last 2 games!
smiley32.gif

After all these years, I'm honestly still amazed by all these monster games from Dirk. Truly a wonderful blessing to see a player like Dirk put show after show (especially for a white player). Along with Pau & Nash, I've never enjoyed watching NBA games this much (more so than my childhood idol, Jordan). A toast to Don Nelson, for helping Dirk & Nash become NBA superstars!

I was honestly sure Dirk won't reach 2,000 points this season. But, after scoring 39.5 ppg in his last 2 games (2 games to go), he's going to reach 2,000 points. This will be his FIFTH 2,000 point season!

It's a franchise record!

That's definitely "Bird-esque"!

He needs a championship ring to seal his legacy (to the DWFs). It's a shame the Mavs let Nash go...as I think they'd have already landed a title in the "Big D".

Byron Scott was saying yesterday that right now he views the Dirk-led Mavs as the best team in the West and not the slumping Lakers. We will find out soon as the playoffs start next Sunday.

Larry Bird wants to see a final with Kobe vs Lebron.  I'd like to see Dirk vs Lebron.

I am not so sure I would like to see that matchup. I live about a hour from Cleveland and everybody around here is a Lebron fan and so once again I would be outnumbered and going against the grain when most of my friends would be pulling for the Cavs and so unless I could be sure beforehand of the Mavs beating the Cavs, I would just as soon see a Mavs/Magic matchup.

Guest301, the only reason I would like to see that match up in the finals is so that Dirk can crush the Cavs. This way the media can't go on and on about "Queen" James.

Well that would be the dream scenario if it unfolded that way although I don't trust NBA refs and remember what they did to the Mavs in the Heat/Mavs finals a few years ago. The NBA wanted the Wade/Shaq combo to win and they made it happen and wouldn't be suprised if they wanted the same thing out of Lebron/Shaq. I have noticed that Lebron has been really slumping at the free throw line lately while Dirk has nailed his last 35 or so and so the thought of Lebron/Shaq costing his team a victory or two in the finals with a lousy free throw percentage while Dirk hits his would be a satisfying storyline.

I enjoyed watching this video. It's a thank you from the Dallas Mavericks and their fans to Dirk. it is fun to watch. They are so lucky to have him play his whole career there despite the fact that it might cost hima chance at a ring. Can't believe that just like the Suns, the Mavs did nothing in free agency. Oh well. Good luck to Dirk in 2011. He is still my favorite player.

Super Clutch performance by the one and only.. Dirk Nowitzki!
smiley20.gif

What looked to be an easy game for Dallas (11-0 1st quarter start) turned into a classic defensive game, and Dirk scored 42 (season-high) of his team's 88 points. Dallas was even down 58-48 at halftime, but they pulled a close 88-84 win over the Pistons. While it's nice to see Dirk display amazing individual scoring numbers, it's another alarming sign he's got little or no help on the team. If only Nowitzki had a reliable 2nd & 3rd option teammate, he'd been an NBA champion years ago. Regardless, Dirk continues to get better with age.

I still say that Mark Cuban should be indicted and prosecuted in DFW for letting Steve Nash go to the Suns......what a wonderful few years we would have had watching Nash and Dirk.....probably the reason Nash was allowed to move to the Suns...a white "dynamic duo" just doesn't fit the script now does it?

Dirk is 2nd in the NBA in scoring as of today. He is shooting an unbelievable 53% from the field. The only bad part for him is his free throw shooting has dipped into the 80's percentile. I'm sure he will get that straightened out shortly. What a player. He is a legend! Enjoy watching him guys.

As everyone has said a million times, it makes me sick that he doesn't have a ring. The lack of talent around him is disgusting. Even Michael Jordan never won anything until he had all stars playing with him. Why haven't they ever pulled off a major deal. They should have got David Lee. That would have been one hell of a combonation of scoring, passing and rebounding.

Caron Butler and Jason Terry need to step up or a mid season trade needs to be made to bolster the roster and give the Mavs a chance in the playoffs to make another run at it while Dirk is still in his prime. The Mavs have a deep roster but I think you need more than one guy averaging 20 points a night and it seems the Mavs are too balanced with a different #2 and #3 guy every night. I think consistency is more important and so Butler has to be that guy, he's a two time all star who should still be in his prime.

Just the other day, Dirk was seventh or eighth in scoring in the league. Right now he has several affletes right behind him. I'd love for him to be the NBA scoring leader by seasons end but he has his work cut out of him. Durant is over 2 points in front of him.

Dirk scored 42, and the Pistons actually played good defense on him.

This has to be one of the best back-to-back efforts ever from Dirk & the Mavs.
smiley20.gif

After a gut-wrenching win over the Pistons, the Mavs pull a decisive 111-103 road win over the young and rising Thunder. Dirk had a slow 1st half start, but heated up in the 2nd half. The game was quite close with the Thunder always ahead until Dirk completed an amazing 4-POINT PLAY over Great African Hope Serge Ibaka, which ignited a late Mavs rally which put them ahead for good. IMO, this also ranks among Nowitzki's best back-to-back efforts ever!

The guy just gets it done night after night and year after year! I agree as this was an incredible back to back performance. You could tell he was tired and that affected his rebounding but who cares when you shoot the lights out. He will move up his scoring average some more. Remember that he is the number 2 scorer in the nba right now! Way to go Dirk Diggler!!
