Derek Carr

Carr retires from the NFL at 34 due to injuries. He was one of the better QBs in the league during his tenure. His ending with the Raiders seemed a bit odd and Saints fans never appreciated him. Let's hope Shough is able to come in and replace Carr.
I shudder to think what kind of pain killer routine he was on to suit up on game day.

This is probably a good thing for the long run of his life but this retirement leaves the Saints in a potential free fall and in position to draft the first pick in 26'.

Happy trails to the Carr clan...

PS I was thinking it over and Carr was most likely out for the rest of the year so the number 1 pick in 26' was in play regardless. Also if he were ready very late in the season I think the Saints would have sat him out and let Shough, Rattler or whatever veteran they trade for and sign play out the rest of the season as it would take a miracle for them to be in a playoff hunt.

Sad to see Carr go. He was tough so I’m sure the injuries were unbearable. A very good, not great QB, who unfortunately never played for any great teams with average talent around him at best.

The Saints also have Taysom Hill, who could be their best option, even at his advanced age but we know that they would never even consider it.

Kudos to Carr for a great career. He played with some truly atrocious black teammates but always rose above.

Saints have a weapon at QB in Hill but they won’t utilize him.

Derek Carr being on Black Jack's Raiders during the politically tumultuous 2017 season may have been the worst situation a white player has ever been in. Then there's the broken leg at the end of his peak season in 2016, the bizarre Gruden SJW cancellation, and then having his Raiders career ruined by the short lived McDaniels regime. And even being drafted by the putrid Raiders in the first place. The success he was able to have and the fortune he was able to make is an incredible story when you think about it.

Derek Carr's all-sumo offensive line refusing to block for him because he declined to kneel for the anthem was the NFL at its lowest. Yet Derek and his brother David (who got the rawest of raw deals and was falsely labeled a bust) always carried themselves with class.
