This guy was a pass rushing beast with UCLA but injuries and being in the wrong schemes have derailed his NFL career. Now he's trying to make it with the Titans, similar to the position Kyle Vanden Bosch was in a few years ago. The Titans actually had 12 white defensive players on their roster a few years back, maybe Jeff Fisher will reverse his pro-Caste directionof late and give Ball a shot.

Ball hopes he can bounce back with Titans

Yeah I read this story on draft daddy. I actually have a positive feeling about
this Ball situation working out. I cannot believe I never heard of this man
before. I mean he had some sick stats at UCLA with over 10+ sacks his
junior and senior years. I usually hear about these players but for some
reason Ball slipped under my radar. I really think this could be another "Kyle
VanDenbosh" situation all over again, lets hope so.

Paul Kuharsky, of ESPN.com, reports Tennessee Titans defensive line coach Jim Washburn said if the season started now, DE Dave Ball would start at defensive end. "If we started the season today, everybody healthy, I'm not so sure if I'm being honest to myself and to this football team that Dave Ball wouldn't be starting at end," Washburn said.

i am very happy for Ball. he had a solid season with Titans last year, 4.5 sacks, 1 interception and 28 tackles and that was in 15 games, starting only 3 of them (Jevon Kearse started all 16 games and got 3.5 sacks and 34 tackles in comparison).

Kearse was a pathetic addition to the Philly defense for a couple seasons....and was then rewarded by being re-signed by the Titans (where he also did nothing last season).

I mean, I even saw jock-sniffing Philly fans with "Kearse" jerseys on. Can't they at least find an above average black player so that they may properly emasculate themselves?

I suppose they never took the time to check out his generic stats....all they were allowed to hear was that Kearse is "the freak." Legendary morons like Dan Deirdorf always mentioned how dominant Kearse was during his first couple seasons (you remember, almost ten years ago

). He was a first round pick in 1999, I think.

well, Kearse was a freak way back when but he's not much of a player anymore. faded quite quickly for such a gifted guy. oh well, better for KVDB and Ball.

Ball was inactive for the Titans-Steelers game on Thursday.

I noticed that Vandenbosch was played sparingly as well. Yup, good choice keeping Ball out, the team starts at 0-1.

Yeah, why was KVB only playing 1-2 snaps per series? Why was Ball a healthy scratch?

The miniscule amount of respect I once had for Jeff Fischer faded years ago. He used to field a nealry 50% white team....with 2 white WRs (Berlin and Bennet) starting. A couple years back, the Titans had the whitest defense in the NFL (mostly backups, though). Too bad Billy Volek wasnt run out of town in favor of the media-dubbed "warrior," Steve McNair.

Volek stayed in Tennessee even AFTER they got rid of McNair. the fact that they acquired Collins and drafted Young made him expendable in Fisher's eyes (there was some bad blood between them, can't recall what it was all about).
