Three time world champion Danny Green could be forced to retire â€" but
is happy to be alive after being "horrifically misdiagnosed"Â by a West
Australian doctor. Green is in Perth's St John of God hospital after
undergoing emergency surgery to remove an abscess "the size of a
softball,"Â which had gone undetected in his stomach for seven years.
"Could it all be over? Yeah, definitely,"Â Green conceded. "What's
happened to me, it's all pretty crazy and no one is sure what recovery
I'll make. But I'm just relieved to be here, to know that I can still
play a role in my kids' lives. What if I had been in the Sydney to
Hobart yacht race as planned? Or out in the bush? If a few things had
gone differently over the past couple of days "¦ yeah, right now I could
be brown bread."Â Green was impressive in defending the IBO cruiserweight
title against B.J Flores in a recent defense of the crown winning a
clear twelve round decision. Green is a former WBA light heavyweight
champion and a former WBC super middleweight interim champion.
