Schippers decline reminds me more of Wariner's decline.
Both were very successful, and then switched coaches, and then went downhill.
'If it's not broken, don't fix it' would have been the adage to heed.
With Lemaitre, it was broken and he didn't try to fix it.

Apparently Dafne has had a serious back issue for the past couple of seasons, but I don't know much about it.
She runs this weekend in a big meet in Holland. We'll get an idea of where she is for this season.
However, I believe her best days are behind her. She might make the final in the 200, but I can't see her on the podium - unfortunately.
But when she was at her peak, she was the most exciting white sprinter in recent memory.

I agree with the Wariners comparion as well. If she has a back injury then she/media dont talk much about it., Just as I say SFP is juicing she runs 10.63 in Jamaican Natioinals, cant believe that people especially Jamaicans believe she is authentic...

I have my doubts as to wether Schippers can make a 100 or 200m final at the Olympics unless she has a 100% dramatic turnaround...if she does then the drug/PED accusations will start. I am always rooting for her to succeed and I hope she does well in Tokyo.

How else can a tiny, poor island nation come to dominate the world of sprinting for the past 2 decades?!
These small, poor nations don't have the proper systems in place to oversee doping protocols. And it may be that some of these nations don't want to.
Meanwhile, the European countries are vigilant about these tests.

Yes S.F.P. is doping without a doubt. She had a new personal best in her older age. Her last personal best came 9 years ago and she is now the 2nd fastest women of all time after FloJo who did the same thing. The Americans, Jamaicans, and British
have been the worst offenders over the last 4 decades. Look who holds all the records yet WADA continues to act as if these records are legitimate. Kind of like Barry Bonds and all the other P.E.D. Baseball Players
that were caught yet most went unpunished. Track is rapant with ped abuse. It's really sad as many of this records should not exist.

Dafne ran 11.15 (0.8) at the Hengelo meet today for 4th place.
It's a good time, and a big improvement over her recent races. So that's encouraging.
She still has a ways to go, but at least it seems like she's moving in the right direction.

She is the unofficial world record holder as the Flo Jo time was disputed the day it happened.

The IAAF probably feels they are backed into a corner and still recognize the obvious faulty wind gauge. Also the 1000 pound pink elephant in the room on the obvious Flo Juice transformation and crazy times and the IAAF is caught between a rock and hard place when it comes to the world record.

Yes she is old and setting pb's things don't pass the sniff test.

I don't know when Schippers last went 23s for a 200 - but she did last night in Florence. Little Beth Dobbin of GB beat her.

I was just reading little snippets from articles about Schipper's injuries that started just as she was preparing an assault on the world record in Rio. She cites niggles and interrupted training for finishing 5th in the 100.
She recovered well enough and I was there to watch her 10.90 in Amsterdam 2016 where she blew away a lot of fairly mediocre international sprinters - but since then it's been her adductor and then her back that have given her trouble. Interestingly she liked giving up the heptathlon because of a knee issue which hasn't been a problem in her sprinting career.

That explains her "slowly,slowly" approach to competition these days. I guess repeat injuries take the confidence away - you just get sick of being hurt and having to replan goals.

I got a back injury in 1998 that started me on masters sprinting to strengthen my core and it hasn't been a problem since -although that injury has caused my left calf muscle to shrink significantly since. I guess there are some injuries that just can't be totally healed and they can pile one upon another

22.70 for a distant third place ?? She's more than a half second behind what I'd hoped.
If Dafne comes even close to winning in Tokyo then I would never have witnessed such a great job of "keeping one's powder dry". She may be done and dusted!
